Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've never given a five out of five but this comes close.
Throughout the staff were very welcoming, friendly and nothing was too much for them. Our arrival was quickly and efficiently dealt with by a very friendly receptionist.
The bedroom was one of the cleanest we have ever seen and for a 3* excellent, we even had a pleasant view of the surroundings. Tea/coffee, shortbread biscuits, shower gel/shampoo were available plus a long list free of anything you may have forgotten like toothbrushes/paste etc. Hairdryer and multi-station option on the room tv.
The evening meal menu was very varied and would cover all tastes. We had an allowance of £18.95 each which covered all the main meals. Having a starter (many and varied though they seemed expensive) or a dessert (limited to 5 at £6.85 {apart from the cheese tray coming in at £8.95} including a dessert of the day which remained the same both nights we ate) the remaining allowance had to be topped up.
The wine started at £16.95 though they had a weekly special at £14.95.
The waiting staff was excellent both nights and nothing was too much for them.
Breakfast - what a breakfast for choice, probably the best we've seen. Fresh and tinned fruit, choice of yoghurts, Danish pastries, croissants, seeds and a large selection of cereals. Each table had a plate containing an assortment of jams, marmalade and Nutella, extra were found above the fruit.
The hot breakfast offered fried/scrambled egg, bacon sausage, beans, tinned tomatoes, hash browns and mushrooms with accompanying sauces. Toast on request. Tea and coffee or help yourself fruit teas
The spa/gym facilities were excellent, though the pool was a bit small. The only negative here was all the showers poolside and in the changing rooms were very cold. There is a poolside cold water dispenser - cups can be obtained from the spa reception who as with all the staff very helpful. You'll need your room access card for a towel and a locker key.
We didn't use the bar so we cannot comment on that.
We intend to return though it'll probably be next year now because of the distance.
Very highly recommended.

I was attending a fan event (Llamedos Holiday Camp) at the hotel but didn't stay here as I was unable to get a room (Our event sold out the hotel) so review is confined to my experience attending the event.
It was a superb venue for the event. All staff were really helpful and friendly, They coped admirably with the legion of fans that descended upon them.
The event was also catered with an evening meal provided. There was always a number of choices available. I can be a picky eater but there was always at least one thing on the menu that I fancied. The mealtimes themselves ran really smoothly which was impressive as it can be hard to feed 150-200 people in about 90 mins to 2 hours, yet they managed to do it every night.
For lunch, a bar menu was available with a wide range of meals, light bites and sandwiches. Everything I was delicious and reasonable priced. The bar also stocked a wide range of drinks which were also competively priced
I've already heard that we're returning to this hotel to hold the evnet again and I would be more than happy to return.

As a treat for my birthday and after lockdown my boyfriend booked two nights in this nice looking hotel. The professional photos looked great, modern and clean but as always, don’t trust what you see on their website!
After a long 4 hour drive we were looking forward to relaxing for the evening, however we found our room was a twin and not a double like we’d booked. Not only that, it had a huge damp stain on the ceiling. We were offered a double room for an extra £200 and ended up being moved to another twin room in the extension.
Great, new room, you might think, but nope. This one was dingy and grubby. We put our bags down and immediately went to Tesco for antibacterial spray and wipes. On cleaning the room we found the tap in the bathtub was loose so we didn’t dare to touch it anymore than giving it a wipe.
We scraped rubber soled shoes across the carpet to find a human hairball forming, thoroughly cleaned the tv remote of all the grime between the buttons, wipes and disinfected all surfaces but the worst part was the leather bucket chairs. We both used about 6 wipes that came out BLACK on them and then gave up and decided we weren’t going to use them after that.
There were posters all over claiming the hotel was covid safe and had been declared that by an independent team. I have little faith that team exists, either that or perhaps the team deemed the place covid safe as it hadn’t had a deep clean since before the virus graced our shores?! Oh wait, I have a positive thing to say! There were plenty of hand sanitiser dispensers around, 2 metre floor markings and clear Perspex screens on reception desks.
I won’t say it ruined my birthday as I enjoyed the activities we travelled to Llanelli for but I certainly didn’t didn’t expect to have been cleaning to that extent.
Grim place, avoid.

No hot water for 3 day stay and maintenance work carried out all day Saturday in room beneath us leaving us unableto relax. Spoke to management, no apology just yeah we have work being done underneath you and they have turned off the water, as mentioned, no apology, no rate reduction no offer to move room. Waitress overstretched kept forgetting drinks orders at breakfast. All told we was charged full price for a third of the service, a RIP off

We booked in here very last minute after our wedding in England was cancelled due to lockdown. I rang up and was given a great last minute deal for bed and breakfast for five nights over the phone. I also explained we would be bringing our seven week old baby with us. The chap I spoke to put us in the biggest room so we'd have plenty of space.
The room was warm and very large. It had two large windows with blackout curtains. There was plenty of storage space, a decent TV and lovely huge and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was also large and had a lovely big walk in shower with good water pressure.
Most evenings we ate in the restaurant and the food was outstanding. We couldn't fault it at all. We tried a number of dishes including the steak deal which was cooked to perfection. We also missed Sunday lunch but the chef did us a carvery plate for Sunday evening. Breakfast was equally as tasty every morning with a full Welsh breakfast with a choice of eggs.
The service in the restaurant was also superb. The staff were friendly, polite and professional. They were extremely good at making us feel 'spoilt' and cared for which we very much needed with our newborn and cancelled wedding. We loved chatting to the staff each day and appreciated being pampered.
Again, the bar was a pleasant place to sit and relax with plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas to relax. The bar staff were polite and service excellent.
We visited the pool in the spa which is small but clean and well maintained. Treatments were cancelled due to covid-19 restrictions.
The decor of the hotel is dated but it is still clean and well maintained. Staff were very good at following social distancing, wearing masks and reminding guests to wear masks in public areas. (Except the owners to whom the rules apparently don't apply!) There was ample hand sanitiser and visible cleaners. We felt very safe during our visit.
The area around the hotel is a bit lame so unless you have a specific reason to visit, or are happy to drive to visit places, or like us, are happy to bunker down in the hotel for a few days, I'd suggest you stay elsewhere.
We would definitely stay here again for a pampering, relaxing break either as a couple or family and would highly recommend to others.

Arriving we were made to feel very safe and welcome. Nadia in the spa made sure that we had everything that we needed and all with a smile and a very warm welcome. The spa was spotlessly clean and was constantly being cleaned. The pool was lovely and warm and the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were all open with social distancing in full force. With our package we had two hours to enjoy the spa before heading up to have afternoon tea. Patrick made us feel like royalty. The tea was served with lovely pottery and a pot that poured without dribbling and a nice cup of tea it was too. Not only were there sandwich's but wraps too and all really lovely and fresh. The scones were light and fluffy with clotted cream and jam and I was even given more cream when asked for. There was also a selection of very tasty cakes. Patrick was attentive without intrusion. What a brilliant afternoon highly recommended can't wait to go back again.

I stayed here in January 2021 as a key worker. The building looks a little dated from the outside but the rooms are lovely and the staff are really helpful. During lockdown they were still offering full room service including breakfast - really rare these days!

We spent a weekend at the Diplomat hotel for an event where the entirehotel was booked for fans of Terry Pratchett's Discworld to gather and have a great deal of fun and entertainment. The hotel staff were amazing and accomodated all of our sometimes challenging requests with good humour and willingness to help. The food choices far exceeeded expectations, lots of choice and all very tasy . I am vegatarian and also following a low carb diet nd still had choices. The rooms were lovely, bed comfy, lots of hot water etc. Excellent value for money and altogether a really enjoyable stay. The swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were an added bonus and all at no additional charge. Fantastic, well done Diplomat- thank you to all the staff and management forhelping to make our stay so memorable. We will be back.

This hotel is about a mile from the town centre, so it's walkable, but a taxi will only set you back about £6, unless you drive of course. In any case, the hotel has a range of facilities (including the spa, which I didn't use) if you want to relax on-site. The hotel is clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
