We just love everything about coming to Ardtorna, starting from the very moment we arrive. Karen's the most lovely host and always makes our stay so comfy. Her breakfasts are superlative, the bed simply collosal and the view outstanding. We'll be back!

We stayed with Karen on Wednesday (3rd)May. I was just so impressed from the warm friendly greeting to the amazing look of the Room, everything had been carefully thought of. All the appliances were high spec, and the house and rooms were beautifully decorated. Karen was lovely and our breakfast was delicious with everything that we could have wished for. A really lovely stay in a 5* room; we can’t wait to return! Thankyou KarenX

A truly luxurious B&B hosted by Karen (owner) immaculate throughout and views to die for. When we arrived we found the rooms had been upgraded to include a private furnished deck area, perfect for enjoying the views with a nice glass or two. Another upgrade was the installation of a charging point. Choice at breakfast was amazing, beautifully cooked and served with a smile 😃 we will definitely return.

From the time I first contacted Karen the owner to book a stay it was apparent she really cared about her guests. The location is beautiful and very easy to access Oban. They even run a service to take guests to restaurants or you can have light bites on your terrace. Cheese or meat platters or a hot meal. We opted for the hot which was a lovely tasty prawn and noodle stir fry with a lovely chilled white wine The room is very well equipped. Super comfy bed nice quality bed linen. You can have a spritz of essential oil on your pillows Small fridge with complimentary nuts and chocolates. I did have a few of these. Karen brings warm home made scones when you check in. Tea and a coffee pod machine are available Bathroom was a wet room. Lovely fluffy towels bath robes and Molton Brown toiletries. Dyson hair dryer and in my room GHD crimpers Everything here is good quality. The breakfast room was beautifully laid out with a good selection of cereal, fruit, nuts, smoothie, juices etc. What makes the breakfast outstanding is the choice of hot freshly cooked food. My husband had the haggis on muffins with poached egg and Hollandaise. I had the special. Streaky bacon, halloumi and poached egg. All very well presented, tasty and cooked perfectly I can’t praise this place highly enough. Its also run on an environmentally basis Exceptionally clean and super comfortable

We have stayed at Ardtona before and on this occasion we were with our friends who had not been before. We can only praise Karen for her exceptional hospitality in providing a high quality accommodation and her attention to detail is outstanding. The breakfast choices were amazing with plenty of choice of teas, drinks, cereals and 12 main course options. We found the rooms very comfortable and we enjoyed scones on arrival on the newly added private decking terrace which were not there on our previous visit. This was overlooking the most beautiful view of Loch Etive. We have stayed in some accommodations over the past several years some good and some not so good but for the quality and comfort of Ardtona the price fairly reflects what is offered. We would definitely revisit perhaps for a longer period as there is now a guests lounge which was not there on previous visits. We would highly recommend this location and accommodation to anyone who is looking for a high quality accommodation in this area. Thankyou Karen for looking after us so well. Lyn & Alan Jackson

We visited the b & b early May on an overcast day. Due to the large window and top floor location it was already too hot. A floor standing fan was provided and we opened the window to cool the room. I would not advise taking this room during warmer sunny weather unless you really like to sweat. Sound from the kitchen carried and we were woken early in the morning. The TV didn't work and the host swapped it for one which did work from another room. Food was nice but breakfast was an additional £40 which she wanted in cash due to problems with the website. Cleanliness was first class, building was in very good condition, bed was very comfortable, room was well equipped if a little small, view was outstanding. Nibbles were provided FOC but these were in storage jars rather than sealed packets, the sweet jar contained empty wrappers which had been put back in by previous guests, we didn't bother trying the loose nuts etc.

Response from Karen Webster, Owner at Ardtorna B&B
Responded 2 weeks ago
Dear Mr Smith, Thank you for taking the time to review your overnight stay in the Deluxe Suite. I am sorry that you felt the need to express your thoughts on your stay further by reviewing via Trip Advisor. By posting reviews like this can be damaging to ones business, which I am sure you are aware of ... For this reason I shall address the situation for the benefit of anyone reading this review who may be concerned about the ventilation / temperature of the rooms at Ardtorna. On the day of your check in it had been a glorious sunny morning and afternoon. As all rooms have ceiling to floor windows overlooking the loch means the solar gain can contribute to the rooms being warm. Each room has a door either leading onto a private decking area or the outside ( as your suite ) Shortly after you arrived you asked me to look at the electric curtain control and the tv remote as you said neither worked. I did so, and showed you how to operate the electric curtains , however after realising the remote for the tv was faulty i replaced the tv taking one from another bedroom. !5 minutes later you came downstairs showing concerns about the warm bedroom. i assured you that the heating was off and suggested that you opened the full length door within the room. I did this for you as you did not know how to open it / know if it worked. In addition I also offered you an electronic freestanding fan which you accepted. I felt at this stage all issues had been addressed, although i was very aware you were not the happiest of guests, but I felt no more could be done from my side. I was most polite, patient and tolerant too of your attitude towards me. Something I feel no need to go into in any great depth, apart from the fact that used my hospitality skills of 35 plus years to stay professional to the core throughout your display of ' being aggrieved ' which leads me on to the next issue raised ... You made your booking via booking.com. The cheapest and easiest way to book a stay for Ardtorna is via my own website as I price all rooms cheaper that all other sites and include breakfast with a choice of 12 main courses, serve scones etc on the day of arrival and include all bedroom fridge goods with compliments. Any bookings via booking.com are on a room only basis, and do not include the gourmet breakfast, scones and fridge goods. I offered this facility to you for £20 per person, which you chose to add. For security purposes your card was blocked not allowing me to charge you further. This is common practice to protect the customer as I clearly explained to you. Booking via my site I have access but booking.com block customer cards. There was no choice but to ask you to settle by money or bank transfer as i do not have a card machine at the property. All payments are processed through my channel manager, I never deal with any form of credit or debit cards. I can only apologise that you found wrappers in the sweet jar. That was an oversight. You mentioned the other complimentary goods on offer... Each jar is cleaned and new products are popped in every time a new guest books in. My housekeeper was under the impression that all jars had not been touched from the previous guests as were all full. When you came in for breakfast I asked you if you had slept well and addressed the room temperature again. You said the room was still a little warm but opening the door helped. I highlighted the fan to which you said ... ' we did not use it' I chose to change the subject as you had clearly chosen not to accept my help! I, however am pleased to read that you noticed the property is well maintained and spotless. Many thanks for highlighting this, it is much appreciated. I am rather perplexed to the core regarding this review as you chose not to make the room a more ambient temperate and decided to criticise me on line. Had you accepted my help... you would not have to take the time to post this review , and I would not be wasting my valuable time replying to the unnecessary comments regarding the ' lovely room but too hot '
