Excellent facilities in the lodge - the dog even got a special welcome pack including a toy thats still in one piece after 2 weeks! The estate staff were very friendly. The only criticism is the lack of a good cafe/cakes within the estate, and all the local cafes were shut as out of season. Its a great location to explore this beautiful coastline - we even took the ferry to Islay and Jura during a flat calm and sunny day, in early March, can you imagine?

Myself, hubby and my cousin and his wife visited Melfort which once again didn’t disappoint from the moment we arrived.
We arrived early as we wished to watch the rugby which we had been advised was not a problem as we could use the Gunpowder Room where there was a TV,the staff advised that our unit was ready earlier which we appreciate d the quick work done to facilitate this.

We stayed in Farm Cottage 2 which was well presented, clean and warm with everything we would need for our relaxed week.
Staff went above when we were needing extra wood for the fantastic log fire just as the office was about to close I called ahead to say my husband was about to walk over to be pleasantly surprised to be advised that a member of the staff would pop it in on their way home.

Staff were attentive and knowledgable of the area and assisted with our request to book squash at the local village hall.

Once again we cannot stress how much we love visiting Melfort and look forward to seeing everyone in May if not sooner.

This was our first visit - everyone we chatted to was on their fourth or fifth visit, and it’s easy to understand why. This feels like a real village and not a custom built resort. All the cottages are different, being converted from original farm/industrial buildings, and dwellings. The cottages are exceptionally well equipped - even kitchen foil and clingfilm are supplied - comfortable and spotlessly clean. The wood burner and dining candles added to the coziness. Our dog was delighted with his welcome pack of dog treats, bowls, dog towel, blanket, new toy and doggie bags. The pool is small, but the booking system means you virtually have it to yourself, and the sauna and jacuzzi provide welcome relief after a hard day’s walking. There’s a first rate tennis court, a putting course and dog field, and many walks from the site. The staff team are exceptionally helpful and friendly, and the resort is dog and child friendly with a dog free children’s play area. The geography offers Scotland’s finest with a stunning coastline. Get your slot booked in time and Tesco will deliver. Worth planning your groceries and booking the restaurant ahead of your visit as it is a rural location accessed by a single track road. The only downsides were the icebox sized freezer compartment and lack of washer/dryer, but there are communal facilities available. Loved it!

What a fantastic gettaway for Christmas!! First time visitor and would love to visit again!! Stayed with puppy , two adults and two children. Stayed in walled gardens. Cottage was immaculate and way above anything i had expected. They had gone the extra mile for the Christmas season, and we were delighted to see a Christmas tree set up with lights and even a couple of presents wrapped up for the kids left under the tree!
The kitchen was fully furnished with even a roasting tray for the turkey.
There is a pool onsite along with a small gym. There is a games room on site at the Walled gardens with an X-box, pool table and TV. Perhaps and advisable to bring your own games for the X-box as not any on site. Another Games room nearer reception and another room for younger babies and toddlers. Beautiful walks and location. Location is quite remote, so definitely worth bringing a car.
Staff at reception were so lovely and welcoming and helpful. Loved the stay here and would definitely want to visit again!!

We recently returned after a very wet week in Melfort. The accommodation was excellent and we felt right at home. We arrived early evening and were greeted by Olwyn, who is an absolute star......she even gave us some milk as there was nothing in the fridge. This was our biggest disappointment as everywhere we have stayed recently have provided the basics and many provided some treats to get us through to the next day. Despite the atrocious weather we had a lovely time, Easdale was lovely as was Tayvallich. A whole load of places were dog friendly which was great for us on our searches for a dry spot for lunch! Oban was not far away and with Lidl, Aldi, Tesco and M&S...so plenty of choice. Would definitely go back, just can I order some dry weather please!? The utility charges were high and visitors should be aware of this but it was explained why so just a head's up! The on-site restaurant was understandably quiet in January but the food was excellent and the Monday music night was good too, bar prices were OK as well!!!

I cannot praise The Melfort Village highly enough, I have been coming since 1984 this is my happy place.
Staff are incredibly friendly, obliging and efficient, nothing is too much trouble. Cottages are beautifully furnished and equipped and, in these horrid Covid days, feel very safe.

Just back from a week's stay at Melfort Village, a gorgeous collection of well-equipped and comfy houses in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland. So much to do (pool, sauna, hot tub, gym, games room, pitch and putt, tennis) but a perfect place to relax with our 2 dogs (plenty of walks of varying lengths). Our accommodation was beautifully equipped with comfy beds and snuggly duvets. The kitchen was well equipped but if you find you need something additional the housekeeping staff are happy to provide. Oban is not far away with plenty of places to eat although The Room at the Top (onsite) and the Cuilfail Hotel (Kilmelfort) are both worth a visit as well. Good range of supermarkets in Oban including Tesco, M&S, Aldi and Lidl make eating in a good option too. We really look forward to our twice yearly visits because we always have a wonderful holiday.

A week break in Early September, We had both sunshine, rain and more rain, but this didn't;t diminish our enjoyment of the cottage (Stables West) or the services available. Take away Fish and Chips from the restaurant was a nice simple supper. when not eating out we used the well equipped kitchen to make evening meals for 6. All the tools and pans needed were there. We enjoyed the games room and playing on the full sized snooker table. something akin to Tennis was played on the court. Setting that aside, we had great walks up the local hills to Trig points. We saw wild deer, and caught fresh mackerel from the end of the pier. The office staff were lovely and helpful. The house was warm and snug. We'll definitely be visiting again. and we had no mozzie's - probably due to the bracing winds :-)

The only slight issue: We also booked the pool, under Covid this was assigned for an hour per booking to include changing at either end of the swim. Our hour was cut short as the lifeguard came in 20 minutes before the end to say we had to get out then and there in a less than welcoming way! As we planned to walk in costumes back to the cottage this did seem a little 'early' to bring the swim to an end! It was great while we were in the pool

I think we chose the worst week to visit in terms of the weather, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time staying in the Walled Garden cottage 5. Arrangements for our late arrival were straightforward and everything in the cottage was clean and comfortable making us feel immediately ‘at home’.
We had the advantage of being able to book slots in the pool, so enjoyed getting wet inside as well as outside!
The pool table, table tennis and air hockey were all popular and we even managed a game of the pitch and putt between showers. Living in Cambridge, it was a joy to see hills and the loch from our windows and although we didn’t venture too far on our walks, there was plenty to see in the immediate vicinity.
Thanks for a great visit

We go every year and enjoy it immensely. The facilities are wonderful. It rained so hard it flooded this year making it impossible to leave. The staff could not have been more helpful, providing fresh towels, bottled water and advice on the best route out when it was possible to leave. No extra charges for two days. We are so grateful to them all.
