My wife and I were looking for somewhere to spend a few days relaxing after a long camping trip, and after looking at various different places in North Yorkshire we settled on the BoxBnb in Malton. And how pleased we were!
The BoxBnb consists of three converted shipping containers on a working farm, each boasting a stunning view of the surrounding countryside. The tree 'boxes' are quite close together, but have been positioned so privacy is assured. We stayed in 'The Rabbit Box'. The decor is very tasteful and the huge windows allow natural light to pour in. It was the middle of summer when we were there, but opening the windows provided a cooling breeze so we were never too warm (there is a log burning stove for the winter). The kitchen was clean and had all the applicances one might need. We enjoyed the personal touch of two shortbread biscuits when we arrived! The shower in the bathroom was spotless and provided hot water for showers at anytime of the day. A real highlight of the BoxBnb is the view from the bedroom - what a stunning way to start the day!
We can't recommend the BoxBnb enough if you are staying in the area. Mike and Rachel at Moor Close Farm, and Peter at BoxBnb, couldn't have made us feel any more welcome. A real gem! 5 stars.

I don't think i have enough words to capture the beauty and serenity that is this place.

Let me start with the welcome email i received before our stay. It was the most detailed e-mail I've ever received from a vacation stay. It had details of how to get into the property, local amenities, phone numbers etc.

The cabin itself is so tastefully furnished, overlooking an open field so my kids and I got to watch the sunset. I was worried about it getting too cold at night; but there was extra heating and a lot burner which we ended up not using.

The floor to ceiling windows brings in so much light to the cabin and we got some stunning pictures.

My kids got to play football on the field and they spotted horses and sheep (every little Childs dream🤣)

I really could go on and on but this is hands-on the best staycation I've ever experience and I'm looking forward to coming back. 💕

This place is such a little hidden gem. It is pure luxury in a box! Had everything I needed to ensure a comfortable stay. The coffee machine, hot chocolate and tea provided were very welcome as I usually take my own! The sunrise was spectacular as the views are amazing, a definite highlight are the floor to ceiling windows. It's a great base for exploring York, Malton, North York Moors and the surrounding villages and coastline. Check in was super easy as the keys are left in a little postbox outside the cabin. I have already reccomended this place to family and friends who want to visit the area. A lovely stay, I'll be back 😃 thank you.

We booked a long weekend at the Duck Box as it looked fab. We weren't disappointed.

We had all sorts of grand plans to visit Scarborough and York etc but its so lovely there we just sat and took in the views and visited the local towns.

Malton - beloved of the Hairy Bikers for its food and Florian's macarons is very pretty. We also recommend the Brass Castle Taproom if you like beer and the Royal Oak pub in Old Malton which has a fab S Africa inspired (so unusual and fab) menu. If you are eating out you need to book (we got caught out the first night).

Thornton le Dale is Beautiful for a bit of a walk though I'm told it gets busy.

They recommend two farm shops which sell excellent produce - we can endorse the breakfast boxes from The Whole Hog and the meat from Horny Cow. The cabins have high quality charcoal BBQs and we cooked one of the best steaks ever from them on it (and I really can't cook steak usually)

You probably won't see your hosts Rachel and Mike unless you need to but they are lovely and I think they know how lucky they are to be living in such a beautiful spot.

Back to the 'cabin', unlike estate agents pictures, its bigger than it looks and perfect for a couple - maybe less so for more. The three cabins are very cleverly arranged for privacy but, should you need to use the (comfortable ) sofa bed in the lounge for a second bed be aware that there are no curtains in the lounge so it gets bright/hot and there is the possibility of being seen in your pyjamas. The fittings and fixtures are top class and frankly we could have stayed forever had our cat not expected us home (PS we saw hares and rabbits and loads of birds and more butterflies than I've seen since I was young and I'm told deer often pass through).

Its a dark site (Bortle 4 if you're into that stuff) so fabulous for sky watchers like me. Loads of people have posted pictures of the cabins so I've supplied some night time ones (it doesn't look quite that good with the naked eye of course) but its one of the darkest places I've been in the UK. Beautiful and peaceful.

We so will be back.

Hi Andy, thanks very much for the brilliant and detailed review! We love that this has become your new favourite second home. Noted on the blinds / curtains and we hope to have that rectified by the time you come back to visit. It looks like you got the most out of the cabins and the surrounding area, it truly is a fantastic place to live and visit with lots to do all year round. We're looking forward to having you back with us.

Spotless, great views, stunning countryside, saw Saturn through my telescope, BBQ on the deck, all the farmland birds you’d expect, fridge and small freezer too. I definitely will be staying there again. There is brilliant farm shops nearby and Thornton le Dale is a postcard village.

Lovely location and very comfy accommodation. Nice & central location for exploring local area. Also plenty of places to eat so we didn’t use the cooking facilities (no oven or microwave) just toast & cereal for breakfast. Comfy bed & lovely bathroom. Not warm enough to sit out for us but would imagine it would be really good during the warmer months. Quite pricey but is a little bit quirky for a different kind of experience A couple of minor things that would enhance the experience which we have fed back but overall a great choice.

This was our 3rd time to the BoxBNB, we just love the place. We booked for 3 nights this time and we were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary hamper, of tea, cakes and biscuits from a patisserie in Malton. The cabins have everything you could need for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed our walks in the Dalby Forest, lunch in Helmsley with its castle and walled garden. The local pubs are plentiful and the farm shops have everything you could want for that bbq on the decking overlooking a very special view of this part of N Yorkshire.

Helpful information before arrival from host.
Beautiful surroundings.
The accommodation itself I would say is more suited to couple. Our grandchildren used the bedroom as this had a blind at the window. There was also a much need fan to keep them cool.

Husband and I used the bed settee which was comfortable and was lovely to see the stars from. However we were awake at sunrise as no curtains or blinds fitted. So would suggest eye masks if wanting to stay asleep longer . It was also very hot and uncomfortable at night as no fan in main area.

The Pig box wasn’t as clean as expected as the furniture and kitchen utensils were dusty and had cobwebs. There were also lots of straw bits on the floor which I assumed was off the rug, this was an hazard for our toddler who had brought soft toys.

Bedding and towels were beautifully comfy and clean.
The complimentary tea and biscuits were very much welcomed on arrival.
We didn’t use the log burner or the barbecue as was outdoors exploring and was too tired to from our two long days thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We recently visited the Malton Food Festival and whilst searching for accommodation we came across the BOX BNB Malton - a novel idea converting shipping containers into holiday accommodation. The cabins are situated on a working farm with fabulous views over farmland and the Dales. We stayed in the Pig Box, the accommodation is surprisingly spacious with a bedroom, shower room, kitchenette and sitting area with outside deck. Perfect for couple or a family with small children. The kitchen is well equipped with Smeg appliances, along with a Nespresso coffee machine. The area has much to recommend it with walking and cycling tracks a plenty, it is also a Dark Sky recognised area for the star gazers. All in all a fantastic weekend. We would thoroughly recommend the BOX BNB Malton.

What a unique and fabulous place to stay this was. We stayed in the Duck Box which was very well appointed and finished to a very high standard. The view from the accommodation is simply stunning with uninterrupted views of the Yorkshire hills from every room. The only slight negative that I would mention is that not all of the windows in the lounge have blinds. This means if your little cherubs are sleeping on the sofa bed in this area they will be awake as soon as the suns up 👎🏻 Overall this is a fantastic place to stay, very peaceful and idyllic with lots of things to do nearby.
