Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Would thoroughly recommend. We had a lovely welcoming message when we booked, with useful information. We had a great stay, everything we needed was provided - the Box BNB was clean, cosy and surrounded by Yorkshire countryside. We had some lovely days out but also enjoyed our evenings as we could sit and enjoy the view, peace and quiet. Thank you for a lovely couple of days.

Such a wonderful unique place to stay. We stayed toward the end of July when it was wet & rainy but it didn't in anyways tarnish the stay. It was lovely to sit & watch the rain over the fields with the radio playing. Honestly everything is thought of and you are lacking nothing in the cabin. We had a 2 year old with us and she absolutely loved it, seeing the farm animals and being able to go outside and not worry about cars etc.

Hi Natasha, thanks very much for taking the time to write a review. I'm not sure what's happened to summer this year but great to hear the weather didn't take away from your stay. The cabins have been designed to be used all year round and are cosy in the winter too! Hopefully see you all back at the farm soon.

We booked a long weekend at the Duck Box as it looked fab. We weren't disappointed. We had all sorts of grand plans to visit Scarborough and York etc but its so lovely there we just sat and took in the views and visited the local towns. Malton - beloved of the Hairy Bikers for its food and Florian's macarons is very pretty. We also recommend the Brass Castle Taproom if you like beer and the Royal Oak pub in Old Malton which has a fab S Africa inspired (so unusual and fab) menu. If you are eating out you need to book (we got caught out the first night). Thornton le Dale is Beautiful for a bit of a walk though I'm told it gets busy. They recommend two farm shops which sell excellent produce - we can endorse the breakfast boxes from The Whole Hog and the meat from Horny Cow. The cabins have high quality charcoal BBQs and we cooked one of the best steaks ever from them on it (and I really can't cook steak usually) You probably won't see your hosts Rachel and Mike unless you need to but they are lovely and I think they know how lucky they are to be living in such a beautiful spot. Back to the 'cabin', unlike estate agents pictures, its bigger than it looks and perfect for a couple - maybe less so for more. The three cabins are very cleverly arranged for privacy but, should you need to use the (comfortable ) sofa bed in the lounge for a second bed be aware that there are no curtains in the lounge so it gets bright/hot and there is the possibility of being seen in your pyjamas. The fittings and fixtures are top class and frankly we could have stayed forever had our cat not expected us home (PS we saw hares and rabbits and loads of birds and more butterflies than I've seen since I was young and I'm told deer often pass through). Its a dark site (Bortle 4 if you're into that stuff) so fabulous for sky watchers like me. Loads of people have posted pictures of the cabins so I've supplied some night time ones (it doesn't look quite that good with the naked eye of course) but its one of the darkest places I've been in the UK. Beautiful and peaceful. We so will be back.

Hi Andy, thanks very much for the brilliant and detailed review! We love that this has become your new favourite second home. Noted on the blinds / curtains and we hope to have that rectified by the time you come back to visit. It looks like you got the most out of the cabins and the surrounding area, it truly is a fantastic place to live and visit with lots to do all year round. We're looking forward to having you back with us.

Hi Sean, thanks for taking the time to write a review. I think we're often responsible for people being late with those views from bed! Glad you got to see the stars with this amazing weather we're having at the moment, but when they do come out it's certainly worth it! Hope to see you back with us again soon.

A truly magnificent spot over looking the hills. Complete silence and peace except for the wildlife 😍. The Boxes are beautifully designed and have everything you need for a short stay. We BBQ’d and sat on the porch. Lots to do in the area. We would love to come back.

Booked here as a surprise for my partner and it was the most relaxing night away we’ve ever had, we were both gutted that we weren’t able to stay longer this time, we will 100% be staying here again but for longer next time. I requested a little note and a ballon for my partner as the trip was a birthday treat and we were greeted with both plus a lovely bottle of rose for us! We were very lucky with the weather as we only had about 10 minutes of rain however I can see this being very cosy in the colder months and we definitely want to try and come back in the snow one year! The cabins are beautifully decorated and clean, and it was a nice surprise to have a couple of hot water bottles on the bed so that we could stay out on the decking once it had gotten dark so we could see the stars. Check in and out was stress free and we cannot recommend this place highly enough! Also for anyone who is into landscape and wildlife photography this is the perfect place for it (the beautiful white horse is definitely a poser 😄). The hosts were easily contactable and gave us all the information we needed but left us to our own devices to just relax. We would also highly recommend The Whole Hogg farm shop just round the corner for a cook your own breakfast for 2!
