On arrival and phoning to find the best place to park, the barmaid came out and found us on the street and directed us to their large car park round the back, off the main road.

The landlord and lady were very cheery and helpful also.
We arrived to a very jolly atmosphere.
The landlord was also accommodating in finding a secure place for my bicycle.

Upstairs was very characteristic as the age of the building has not been hidden. Very clean and comfortable. Our room was nicely decorated, spacious and the bed was massive- definitely bigger than a kingside bed!
Tea and coffee facilities available and stored in the wardrobe were other possible essentials they hadn't not thought of; spare duvet, iron & ironing-board, fan heater and a cooling fan.

The en-suite again was adapted to the age of the building and had been turned into a walk-in wet room. Had both an extractor and a fitted wall heater (we arrived on a hot July day but this might be useful to someone arriving in winter)

We were told breakfast started at 7am, but the landlord agreed to do our breakfast a little earlier as we had an early start. Still at 6:45, he was still cheery and helpful. Breakfast had the option of fruit juice, cereals and a superbly cooked breakfast by the landlord himself, nothing was missed; toast, sausages, bacon, beans, eggs cooked perfectly to our request, hash browns, black pudding, mushrooms, tomatoes- the works! Extra toast available with jams and marmalades.

I would certainly say we got value for money and would happily stay here again.

Signed two happy customers.

I stop the night here when having nights out in Malton.
Although the room decors are a little dated, they are always clean and have everything you need.
Breakfast is highly recommended as the quality is excellent.
Price for bed and breakfast is great value and it's a good place to stop if you just need somewhere to get your head down for the night.
The only downside is that the windows are not double glazed, so be prepared for a bit of traffic noise if you get a room that faces the main street.

Very friendly staff, on the phone and in person. The locals were very friendly too. Booked a room for the nigh, very fair prices. Room three, upstairs, the walk to the room was good because the place is well decorated and adorned with interesting pictures etc. The room itself was a lot larger than I imagined, as I booked a single room. There were two single beds, loads of facilities, and the bathroom was immaculate. There was also no shortage of towels! Slept like a log.
The only thing I would slightly niggle at, was if I had a really late night and didn't want to be out by ten in the morning. But the cleaners and music make sure you don't lie in too long! HAHA!
Great place.

We stayed here last night and it was absolutely brilliant. It had been booked as a last minute thing and we would not stay anywhere else now we've discovered it. We had Room 4 (I've read another review for this room!) and the reviewer was right its a huge room and very good to stay in, the wet room was a surprise!! The breakfast was utterly superb and as there were only ourselves, another couple and one single person the attention was the best!! We've stayed in quite a few hotels in Malton and indeed in Scarborough and have never had a breakfast quite like it - fruit juice as standard on table, big choice of cereal, eggs cooked to your choice, bacon, sausages, hash browns, black pudding, mushrooms, beans and lots of toast, jam, marmalade. Simply the best!!!!

Where can you start with a place that charges £35 a night for B&B. My expectations were not high, and we left feeling that we probably have found the best value B&B in the country.
We were on our way to a car event and took a classic Rolls-Royce and needed somewhere with a good car park. It has a superb one at the rear. We were met and had our bags taken. The rooms were is excellent decor, bed linen immaculate and even a wet-room walk in shower in the en-suite. They pointed us to an indian (wil revire later) and after a beer at the bar we headed out. Had a last drink before retiring and was up with the larks. Locals and visitors mingle at the bar in the evenings and there is a quiet lounge too. Everyone simply wants you to have a good time.

I had seen reviews of the breakfast and really words do not do it justice. Free-range eggs (I must presume as the yolks were orange), thick bacon, sausages - the works . Also orange juice and coffee on tap - oh, and cereal if you can manage it. Again all served on immaculate crockery.

The peolpe were lovely and the food was astonishing. Yes £35.

Two of us booked single rooms for three nights, we found it perfect for our needs.
Rooms large enough, wet room, tv and plenty of tea coffee etc.
Paul doesn't do breakfast, he does a banquet served on a help yourself platter, all freshly cooked at your choice of time.(brilliant)
Nothing is too much trouble for Paul ,Debbie and Peter.
Everyone was so friendly, bar staff, cleaners and locals.
Would we stay at the Union again ? You bet we would.
Thanks to all at the Union.

We were up in Malton for a friends birthday party. We were fortunate to chance on the Union Inn. The staff were so friendly, we were made very welcome by all. The room was big and had the biggest bed we've ever slept in and it was very comfortable. Add the bonus of a b ig wet room shower and you had good spotless accommodation at a real value for money price. The icing on thecake was a superb full English breakfast. Many thanks to all at the Union Inn.

We often partake of a beer here and it is the friendliest pub in the UK! Wonderful staff, great well kept beer and perfect hosts.

We booked our babies Christening here and booked the rooms for family and friends. Although we often pop in, the spread put on ranging from homemade quiche, homemade sausage pie through to exquisite presentation of a range of cold meats simply blew us away. Our family and friends that stayed were happy with their rooms and everyone commented how wonderful the day was. Thank you to Paul and Debbie and all the team, you would say "just doing your job." We would say "Going the extra mile!"

I've stayed at The Union on numerous occasions when visiting elderly relatives nearby who are now unable to put me up. Finding this place was an absolute Godsend; It is just round the corner from the address I visit, the accommodation is excellent, Paul & Debbie are the perfect hosts, and Paul serves up an enormous, delicious breakfast. Whilst the pub doesn't serve meals (other than the aforementioned breakfast!), they do serve a mean pint of bitter!! I'll be back there later this year.
