The visit to this hotel was our Christmas present to one another and arranged to coincide with Valentine's Day which was the day we arrived. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and we were quickly shown to our room. We were on the second floor so had to negotiate two flights of stairs which, although not a problem...

The Talbot hotel in Malton has the look, style, comfort and feel of an old coaching inn. You wouldn't be surprised if a coach with a team of horses pulled up to the front entrance. Easy to find on the right of the main road as you come into Malton. Ample parking with spaces for disabled drivers and an extensive...

We have visited the Talbot many times both to stay and just to have lunch. These visits have been very good with us thinking we must come back, not this time. When we booked the nights stay we were told the Wentworth restaurant was only serving a taster menu at £69 a person so we booked a table in the...

Stopped overnight using one of the hotel's offers. As the title suggests, the reason for the "average" rating isn't for the really important stuff that you cannot do without, it's because of staff/service. First of all I must say that the 9 course tasting menu (aside from the mackerel for me) was really good. Really good. The disappointment was in...

Lovely appointed rooms, ace location and good parking. Restaurant food didn't live up to expectation. Staff seemed a little chaotic. Town is lovely, with some grand local pubs off the Main Street. Great place for a weekend getaway or even a weeknight

Just a one night get away. Lovely staff. We arrived early with the intention of having lunch in Malton. The staff let us leave our case and put it in the room for our return. The room was lovely and spacious. Pillows could have been better and the room very hot. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board provided as well as tea...

Although it was noisey and difficult to get near the place as new gas mains were being laid and parts of the high street were closed the actual place stands beautifully and once inside the gate you are transported to wonderful countryside despite being just off the Main Street in Malton. We were shown to a beautifully decorated very large...

My dad booked this place for a family lunch for my mum's birthday, as I had suggested it as being a 'nice' place (not through experience, just grapevine). Being a Sunday, it was the specific Sunday lunch menu that was available, and it looked very good. We had 3 children in the party and at one point the waitress said...

My wife and I have just returned from another fantastic 3 night stay at The Talbot and we can't praise it highly enough. It really is our favourite place to stay, what makes it so special is the staff they can't do enough to make your stay special and are always willing and available to help with anything. We dined...
