A group of us had booked in for weekend as we were going to the Malton Cookery School (which is excellent). The check in process was very good with the receptionist being very helpful. The decor is in need of a bit more than a lick of paint as the hotel is looking very tired. However, on returning to the...

We went to the Talbot 2 years ago and enjoyed their afternoon tea so decided to try it again and met 5 friends here for a catch up- Jan 2017. We decided to book afternoon tea over the phone a few days before we arrived. Well how disappointed we were . The sandwiches were made from very dry bread ,...

Spent one night here with a friend. No elevator, but the woman who greeted and signed us in, walked us all the way up to our room. Then she came all the way back up to help fix our TV (the cable got messed up - probably our fault). The room was spacious, and they were able to provide two...

Had two nights here and the setting is superb and the location also makes it nice and easy to for the shops. Our room was on the first floor and the first landing so it did get a bit noisy, there was a wedding on with quite a few young children that were allowed to roam without much parental control, not the...

We decided to dine out for Christmas Lunch this year for a change, and are so pleased we did at The Talbot Hotel, Malton. We found the cuisine superb; the canapes, mushroom veloute, and the liquorice ice cream were particular highlights for us. The brasserie was decorated beautifully whilst keeping the atmosphere light, the staff were all so warm and...

We have just returned from a "Prosecco lunch" at the Talbot - a Christmas present, and other diners were obviously prolonging the festive season in the same way... It was absolutely faultless! Three courses offering just enough variety, and the back of the menu shows how many of the brasserie's ingredients come from very local sources. I would particularly recommend...

Dear BinksyNr_York_UK, What a wonderful Christmas gift you received, and a lovely idea to carry on the festivities! We are extremely lucky to be able to source all of the produce we use in our kitchen so locally, some of it even comes from our own gardens. We hope to see you again for definite at least this time next...

Booked ourselves in for three nights over Christmas and were promised a lovely programme of Christmas treats, which were mostly delivered. Our initial room was rather disappointing, dingy and very noisy as it overlooked the road. We persevered, but after a sleepless night we requested (and were given) a change of room that was nearer the back of the hotel....

Dear Marilyn D, Thank you for taking your time to review your recent stay at the Talbot Hotel. Following your disappointment of not being pleased with the original room allocated for you it is great to hear the receptionists went out of their way to give you a complimentary upgrade in to a larger room, towards the rear of the...

well we were recommended by friend who also has a labrador also from Yorkshire, so...word of mouth being the best recommendation we came for a between Xmas/New year break. Was delightful, friendly staff, comfortable and quiet bedrooms. Very excellent and massive kitchen garden site of Wembley stadium for dogs to run about in. Top tip to hotel: a "doggie" waste...

Dear goodpike, We are so pleased that your friends recommendation of us to you was welcomed with open arms, and that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us during the festive period, and so did your dog! We visited the Talbot for a couples night away over Christmas. Warm welcome from receptionist. Good sized room with all necessary amenities, however, my husband and I found the mattress very soft. The bathroom was also not as clean as we would have hoped (toilet was stained and marked inside). However, the bar was warm, cosy and relaxing with a...

Dear csmith92829, Thank you for reviewing your recent festive stay at the Talbot Hotel. Our mattresses are all classed as ‘medium’ – in the hope that they would be suitable for everyone, I am sorry that on this occasion it was not the case for yourselves. The bar is certainly very cosy over winter – especially when we have the...
