We stayed at the Teesdale Hotel for two nights. We had mixed views because the restaurant is excellent, very well run, great food and modern decor. We chose to eat in the Hotel on both nights because we were so impressed. A very varied menu and nicely presented. Breakfast was also great - made even more enjoyable by the friendly female member of staff on duty on both mornings. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.
Unfortunately, there had been a mix up with our booking when we arrived and our room hadn't been prepared. On returning later, we were shown to our room and were very disappointed. It was a very small double (only one bedside table - not even a shelf) which we didn't feel was worth the £78 cost. It was situated at the top of the stairs away from the other rooms which were accessed through double doors and into a separate corridor. A dreadful view of a wall/roof from the window and a water tank in the cupboard which disturbed us during the night because it was noisy. We did complain on seeing the room and the hotel staff did agree that we could move to another room for our second night. This room was much improved - a reasonable sized double room and a view of the town. We did have to pay £10 more but it would have been awful to have stayed another night in the previous room (No. 9).
The Hotel is obviously in the process of decorating which is badly needed as the old fashioned rooms do not match the modern, attractive bar and dining area.
There is parking at the rear of the property. All social distancing and Covid safety rules were observed at all times.

We manage to stay here a couple of times a year usually, it's run by a small friendly team who make every visit special.
The restuarant has been changed almost beyond recognition into a stylish bar/eaterie which is much in demand, booking is highly recommended. There is a good selection of beers, well-kept with frequently changing guest ales.
The food has always been good here, thanks to Chef Mark and his team, but the steak pie has recently been escalated to a legendary status, vegetarian options are imaginative and taste amazing - breakfasts are good too.
The Teesdale is well worth visiting for drinks and food, and is a great base for walking in Teesdale if you have the chance to stay a few nights.

Just returned from a 3 night stay with friends at this fantastic hotel. I have to say that I was a little worried beforehand having read some really unpleasant reviews but my fears thankfully were allayed. The rooms were warm, comfortable and clean, the breakfasts were absolutely brilliant (one of my party said that she'd had some full English breakfasts in her time but these were the best ever) and we ate a variety of 3 course evening meals, all of which were extremely tasty, well presented and served by friendly and very capable staff.
It's in a really convenient location for visiting local sights and there are extensive walking opportunities in the locality . All in all an excellent, reasonably priced and extremely enjoyable stay was had by all of us and we shall be back again next year.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and were not disappointed. the staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Our room was number 13 which we did do a double take on but it turned out to possibly have one of the best views of the hotel overlooking the Pennine Mountains. Breakfast was fabulous and served by a very nice young lady who was both attentive and professional.

SDo thanks Teesdale for making our stay great we enjoyed being in North and so appreciated the beautiful landscape. All the best Sarah

This hotel is surrounded in beautiful countryside and is smack bang in the centre of the quaint village of Middleton In Teasdale. The exterior is adorned with stunning floral displays and as you walk in the bar has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The rest of the hotel is a little tired but once you look past the outdated decor this place really is a gem. The staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble, the food is delicious with a huge varied menu and everything is cooked to perfection. The bedrooms are spotlessly clean with super comfy beds and powerful showers. We hope to return in the not too distant future as our little night away has been good for the soul! Thank you to all of the staff for making us (and Lily the dog) feel extremely well looked after. X

The hotel is in the centre of this attractive village and is in the process of gradually being upgraded and updated. Our room was fairly basic but perfectly acceptable at the price, though setting the shower temperature required patience.
The biggest surprise was that the whole area has been without TV since a transmitter fire in mid August yet this was not mentioned in advance of our stay. This would have enabled us to ensure we had suitable devices and longer books! The hotel wifi did not reach the top floor either, yet that from Barclays next door did! I don't think revisiting the mid 20th Century did us lasting harm! Yes, I would stay there again.

Booked a stay here whilst exploring Teesdale.
What made our stay special was the staff, everyone made us welcome and did everything to make our stay special.
Our room was spotless and extremely good value, the building is old and in the process of being updated - the bar area is really good - very cosy and welcoming.
We had a brilliant breakfast every morning and ate in the bar/restaurant every night. The food was exceptional, great value for money could not fault it.
A great base to stay whilst exploring this most beautiful part of the country - hope to return

This place is a little gem, beautiful Georgian apartment , the host Peter was so friendly and knowledgeable, very helpful too, he carried our bags upstairs to the first floor.
The place is spotless, beautifully furnished and so very cosy! Lots of little touches you wouldn't find in a self catering, coffee ,tea etc. Washing up liquid , wash powder etc
Location is perfect., Just a few minutes walk to the centre of Whitby , with all its shops and restaurants! There is free allocated parking, and it's tight, but good power steering and lots of 3 point turns lol!!
Very impressed. Will be back

Had a one night stay. First impressions were that it was a bit spartan and stripped back but on closer inspection that was the style for the restaurant/bar and breakfast area. Room was a fair size, clean and comfortable. Bath and shower were adequate although I find shower curtains frustrating when they can't prevent water dripping on the floor! Our room was front facing but there was little traffic noise. Could hear the bar below occasionally, but it didn't prevent a good night's sleep. Ate in the restaurant for evening meal and can commend the food as good value. Good menu choices. Similarly, the choices for breakfast were as one would expect. Good bread and the bacon and sausages came from the butcher across the road, always a good sign

Stayed at the Teesdale Hotel for a night early August, check in was straight forward, had a great room (Number 12) on the top floor and had a great view of the main street and the hills in the background.

Found all the staff we encountered to be really friendly and helpful, there was an issue with our reservation as apparently breakfast wasn't included but our voucher said it was but this was sorted quickly and efficiently by a gentleman who i think was the manager.

Lovely bar area with good choice of drinks

In summary an absolute brilliant hotel, well run and great staff and i wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and hopefully will do soon.
