What a fantastic stay at Hill Top Huts and the Moorcock Inn. Excellent location, fantastic food and drink and best of all, excellent staff and company! The huts are brand new, have that new feel to them, and have everything you need and more. The best thing about Hill Top Huts and the Moorcok Inn is the people who work there - very nice lady who served in the bar, Mich and the others who work there are lovely, and the people who come in for a drink in the evening are also all great people. In terms of things to do, you can walk to Middleton in Teesdale, you can visit the Weardale Railway or you can head up to the waterfall, Highforce. 100% recommend and we will be back shortly!

We booked for the four course New Year’s Eve meal and one nights stay. The meal was amazing the food was cooked to perfection. The bread and butter pudding was the best I’ve tasted in a while. The room was lovely very large, clean and had a very comfortable bed. We had a brilliant nights sleep and a fantastic breakfast the following morning the bacon is wonderful! The staff are very welcoming and will go out their way to help and make you feel comfortable. All in all a wonderful stay we will be visiting again! Thank you

Sadly we were disappointed with our stay here despite having read good reviews. We arrived Sunday evening and the food appeared to be the reheated leftovers from Sunday lunch. If you like massive portions then this ones for you. Breakfast was very disappointing- no fruit choices- small selection of cereal, no porridge and very greasy full breakfast. It seemed that the pub was doing too many things and b&b was just an add on. The room we had was tiny and no hair dryer with a view over the back of the farm area/ corrugated roof. Positive- it has been recently refurbished so nice shower room and new carpets etc.

Dear Rapster, I am very sorry you did not enjoy your stay at The Moorcock. We have just recently started doing B&B, we have refurbished all the rooms making them en-suite some are smaller than others. A larger room can be requested when booking with a view of the beautiful dale off Teesdale. Hair dryers are not left in the rooms but are available upon request. I am sorry we had no porridge or fruit for breakfast and these will be added to the breakfast selection. Our full English breakfast is made with our own home cured bacon, homemade sausage using our own pork and free range eggs, thus reducing the food miles, which we are very keen on with our farmgate to dinner plate logo. Thank you for your feed back. Kind Regards Joanne

This is the best Sunday lunch I have had in a very long time. Excellent quality, fresh veg and a jug of extra gravy. Service is always good. If you don’t want to be disappointed book but they will try and find room for you if you prefer to just turn up. They also do starter and main or even 3 courses. We always go for they starter and main for £14.95 I love my food but would not be able to manage a dessert. I would definitely recommend.

Literally just finished one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve ever had. We go out every Sunday but this was def the best. The roast lamb and mint gravy was to die for and the thick slabs of beef were beautifully cooked. The Yorkshire puds were light, fluffy and huge!! Will be back next week!!
