What a find. Gaultier Lodge is a classic old structure that has been turned into a memorable accommodation. The rooms are spacious and the grounds provide wonderful views of the bay and direct access to the beach. The hostess, Sheila, takes good care of you, with area insights and recommendations on dining in nearby Dunmore East. Breakfast the next morning was cooked to order and satisfying. Put this B&B in your plans when visiting southeast Ireland.
We treated ourselves at this lovely guest house. It is about 11 km out of Waterford in Woodstown Strand and what a lovely discovery it was. Our room looked out over the incredible beach. It is quiet and peaceful. The house has an incredible quirky and old school charm (don't miss the fox with sunglasses) and Sheila the owner is warm and kind. She also gave us a great breakfast as well as welcoming us with excellent coffee and cake. What a pity we could only stay for a day! Highly recommended.
From the moment we arrived, Sheila, the owner, was so friendly and obliging and the place just oozed hosipitality. This beautiful old guest house is in a fantastic location on the beach and we had a wonderful stay, with great food, good company and a lovely, well equipped room. The house and its public rooms reflect the owners passion for horses and country living and provided for a warm and comfortable stay - even our dog was, by prior arrangement, accommodated in an old stable in the garden where he seemed to be very happy and content. I cannot recommend this place highly enough - 5 stars. Thankyou Sheila.
Serene, quiet and picturesque. In the AM jockeys work their Thoroughbreds on the broad mile long stretch of beach. The river Suir is about 3 miles wide at that point and about 3 miles north of the Atlantic and the quaint coastal village of Dunmore East.Home of the fishing fleet and many good restaurants and pleasent pubs.A great escape. Gaultier lodge warm and comfortable and the hostesses hospitality is unsurpassed.
Think relaxed country house, horses, dogs and hunting - add in some excellent paintings, many of which are the work of the very talented owner, and you have Gaultier Lodge. Only a stone's throw from a long sandy beach with views over the bay this really was a find for us. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast very good - with a charming helpful owner, who could ask for more? Can highly recommend.
