We stayed at the Mukaitaky Inn for two nights at the end of our two-weeks trip to Japan. The place is a bit difficult to reach, but it is certainly worth it for anyone who desires a full Japanese onsen experience away from the hustle-and-bustle of the traditional tourist paths. We were the only non-Asian tourists at that time. All...

Aizuwakamatsu is a little off the beaten path for tourists in Japan but it is a very worthy destination as it is a significant historical site with a great museum on the grounds of a traditional/reconstructed shogun's castle which is definitely a highlight. The city is working hard to make tourism enjoyable and it starts with arrival at the train...

This is absolutely the most amazing place and a must-visit for anyone who wants to experience the true Japan, the excellence, the hospitality, the craftsmanship that goes into every little detail of a true ryokan in a rural, mountain setting. The garden in the middle of the ryokan is a gem for the eye which you can watch all day....

From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable. Koshiba attended to our luggages and along the way to our room showed us the facilities available. He is such an attentive staff. Another staff, Yuki Saito was always on hand to translate our needs to the other non speaking English staff. To our surprise she also prepared a handful of...

Our stay here was wonderful, and it was a very relaxing break during the middle of a busy travel in Japan. We stayed 3 different onsen (hot springs) this time, and this is far away the best-one of the best onsen ryokans in my life. The rooms are very clean and big enough, the staffs are very polite and nice....

I wanted to visit Aizu Wakamatsu and decided to splurge on this very classy, traditional ryokan with an english website. I had asked if it would be possible to accommodate a vegetarian as they serve 2 kaiseki meals in your room. They said they would try but to my surprise both my meals were meat and fishless with the exception...

The building is beautiful and well-maintained. We stayed in "Hagi" room and we had a nice view of the beautiful Japanese garden. The room is not huge but it is very comfortable. By the window, there are also arm chairs so you can also relax there if your legs get tired from sitting on the tatami mattress floor. My room...
