Come and camp on the shores of the Moray Firth. Relax on the pebble beach with a BBQ whilst watching the sunset over the distant mountains. Fortrose is an historic village and only 20 mins drive north of Inverness. Happy Camping!

Fab shoreside campsite. Had all the facilities we needed, dog friendly, quite chilly on the east coast so wrap up warm.. Lovely walk from campsite up to Chanonry point to look for the dolphins (saw one leaping! just one but they are very common to sea there). Lovely friendly welcome when we arrived - would stay again :-)

Absolutely amazing and relaxing from start to finish
When we arrived we were surprised to find it was allocated pitches rather than a pitch anywhere but we were not disappointed. Regardless of the pitch you have, the views are out of this world, no matter of the weather.
Clean toilet/shower blocks and bin areas that didn’t stink. Even the seagulls were well behaved and I felt I could cook outside without them bothering us. 6am is a different matter 😂
Lovely hosts and great communication about the local area. Tidal times given so we knew the best times to see the dolphins 🐬
Will definitely recommend and will be back

Our first stop during NC 500. Lovely site with very friendly staff. Good level site with clean up to date facilities. Village is a short walk that has a Co-op should you need supplies and a bakery that produces lovely early morning croissants. Time it right and you'll see dolphins and seals.

We stayed at the Fortrose Bay campsite at the start of our NC500 adventure. It was our first night staying in a campervan and the hosts/owners made us feel welcome and explained everything. The views across the bay were fantastic. The facilities were fairly basic but ok.

A very warm welcome, the best campsite we experienced on the NC500. Extremely clean and a good variety of facilities. The owners provided a lot of information on arrival. The pitches were close to the water (great views). A lovely walk to Chanonary Point to go and spot dolphins and seals. Easy walking distance to the small village. We ate at IV10 cafe and Deli Bar but needs to be booked in advance (would recommend). We had a lovely take out breakfast from the local bakery and ate at Chanpnary Point. A great start to our NC500 holiday.

We turned up on spec and the owner Rachel was very friendly and accommodating, helping us find a pitch even though they were technically full. No toilets or showers due to COVID restrictions but nevertheless the site was spotlessly clean and ordered. South facing so expect wonderful views tempered with changeable weather. Hey, it’s Scotland, if you don’t like the weather, wait half an hour! A very well managed site, right on the sea front with a quiet road running through it, ideal for viewing the dolphins at Channonry Point or visiting Inverness and the Black Isle. Highly recommend.

We had a warm welcome from the lady who greeted us, and it was lovely she took us to our pitch on her bicycle. The site was right on the beach - but note it is a pebble beach. There is a road the runs through the campsite with pitches either side and at the end a golf course. We exercised our dog on the walk. The campsite is dog friendly. A 15 minute walk takes you to Chanory Lighthouse and point. Note you do not need to stay at the campsite to see the dolphins - there is a car park at Chanory Point and you will need to be there one hour after low tide.
In terms of the campsite we thought it was very dated and desperately in need of updating. The bright little pot of fresh flowers in the toilet block, turquoise coloured toilet seats and motivational quotes on the toilet cubical walls, whilst nice, did not make up for the rusty electric socket or isolation switch needed to be turned on or off so you can shower … under what I can only describe as a mist. There are two shower blocks and both need investment. We felt it was over priced based on these dated facilities. If however you want to chance your hand at seeing the dolphins and happy to pay over the odds vs. Quality of facilities at least you now know what to expect.

Room Tip:I’m not sure you’d want to take kids to the site due to the road that goes through it. T

Thanks for your review and your comments. You’re right, our quirky retro toilet blocks are not as new as other sites, but our shower shack does give our campers a modern, spacious option and our facilities are spotless and well looked after, as our reviews reflect. Most campers find we’re very good value for money, and we are continually seeking to improve. With best wishes from the Fortrose Bay Campsite crew.

Great dog friendly campsite in Fortrose Bay. We were greeted with a warm welcome and given useful information about the site and the surrounding area, including the best times to spot the dolphins at Channery point, which is about a 15 mins walk away along the beach or golf course. We had a lovely pitch with great views over the water. A fab start to our NC500 tour.👍🏻

We arrived late as arranged with the owners, which I cannot fault, nothing was an issue & we even borrowed their extension cable for the electric as it is advised you need 25m cable (we actually didn’t need the extension as our 20m cable was fine) We pitched up but due to very high speed winds (not the campsites fault) it was going to be too dangerous to camp. So we packed up & left and booked a hotel for the night. Do bear in mind if you have a RTT or tent that it is generally more windy as it’s on top of a cliff type hill and is above the sea.. the views are lovely!
We used the toilets when we arrived, overall clean, slightly dated.
Dog friendly & lovely walks for the dog. Very handy for Chanonry point too! Enjoy!

Sorry you weren't able to stay with us. Unfortunately, as with any coastal site, we're prone to strong Westerly winds. This is highlighted on our website's booking page. Please note, our site is quite level with the beach and we do have modern facility options available. Hope you still had a lovely holiday. Best wishes, the Fortrose Bay Campsite Crew.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay on Fortrose Bay Campsite. Unbeatable views, amazingly friendly and helpful staff and gloriously eco-friendly. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and helped in any way they could. A very laid-back site that enabled us to unwind and feel relaxed, our well-behaved dogs enjoyed sitting in the sunshine and walks along the beach. Would highly recommend and will 100% be returning again.
