Artha hotel could be the best hotel in town if they had a shower and hot water. I know this is the standard in Waikabubak but having a bath with a bucket... please note that a rating 2 is for Sumba. In Bali this would be a very low one.

I stayed at Hotel Artha last fall. It's located in a quiet residential neighborhood, which was a nice place to walk around in the evenings. It is within walking distance to pretty much everything you will need(a few small shops, a place that has coffee and wifi, places to eat). The staff was great and very accommodating. The experience of sumba as tourist destination is good. The hotels are cheap but the cleanliness could be better. This hotel is nice to stay for a couple of days and discover the surroundings of waikabubak. The staff is friendly and helpful but the across street 'general' is annoying as he try's to sell his stuff. The staff should decline...

“Get a room around the little courtyard/garden. There is one larger room behind these rooms(by the Jesus picture), but it was quite dark and I heard cats fighting all night long! I moved to the front when they had an opening.”
