Travellers' Choice
The Millstream nestles in the heart of Old Bosham, an historic village on the shores of Chichester Harbour, combining the elegance of a small English country house with the character and charm of an eighteenth century malthouse cottage. The Bar offers a cosy fireside setting in which to relax. On warm days a door opens onto the lawns where you can sit beneath a sunshade and listen to the chatter of the ducks. The charming sitting room, with its deep cushioned armchairs, grand piano, bowls of freshly cut flowers and tranquil atmosphere, is the ideal place to meet up with friends over a afternoon tea or an aperitif, to play a quiet game of cards or just settle down and while away the hours with a good novel. The 2 AA Rosette Sea School Restaurant, overlooking the pretty gardens, offers a varied selection of modern British dishes, prepared with the best available fresh, seasonal, local produce, which are complemented by a list of fine wines from an established cellar. Each enchanting bedroom has been attractively styled to enhance its individual character and outlook. All have en-suite facilities, flat screen television, wi-fi internet access, radio/CD alarm clock, tea & coffee making facilities, mini-fridge with complimentary mineral water & fresh milk, direct dial telephone, wall safe, trouser press and hairdryer. The gardens that surround the hotel are carefully tended and provide a wonderful place to relax in the warmer weather. Overlooking the stream in the side garden is an oak Gazebo which was built for a Wild family wedding and which now provides shelter from the rain or sun. In the summer months there are tables and chairs at which you can enjoy morning coffee, a light lunch, afternoon tea, a cocktail before dinner or an al fresco meal as the sun comes down.

We have always loved this hotel, but when we walked in this weekend, the aroma was very reminiscent of a nursing home, which was off putting. It never used to be that way. Bosham now has such a diverse community of all ages, who appreciate quality and ambience, but I’m not sure this hotel is catering for that? The staff remain professional and friendly. It was good to see the Ladies washroom had been updated. A great improvement, it’s lovely.

Dear LoriBar, Thanks for the review and feedback. There have been several enhancements over the hotel in the past 12 months or so with the ladies washroom being refurbished, a new lift installed, new bedroom suite created and new ground floor carpeting, to name a few. Your feedback on the aroma has ben shared with the team to ensure this can be explored further. Best wishes, Millstream Hotel

Hotel's Favourite
We have just spent 2 nights here and very much enjoyed it. Our bedroom was very smart and clean with a beautiful view of the garden and the sound of the stream running through it. We were greeted by the very friendly, helpful receptionist when we arrived. We ate in the Sea School restaurant both nights and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. There are thoughtful touches everywhere from fresh orange juice, chocolate and water in your fridge along with the normal tea & coffee plus biscuits and savoury snacks, to water and fruit to help yourself to in the reception area. What stood out for us was how delightful all the staff are. All are very courteous, friendly and efficient. It was a pleasure to stay here.

Excellent hotel The experience from checking in to leaving was superb and led to a much needed relaxing break. Our room was clean with pleasing decor. I can highly recommend the restaurants having tried both over our stay. Will definitely be returning. Thanks.

The suite we stayed in was spacious with its own sitting room and fridge and a lovely selection of treats like juice chocolates and nuts. The views of the garden felt like a country Manor and huge bed and peace and quiet meant we slept well at night .The meals were very special served in a pretty restaurant with gentle background music and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. We spent time in the hotel longue enjoying the comfortable arm chairs and sofas. Bosham is a very beautiful place and the hotel location made it easy to go for walking around Chichester Harbour. It is excellent value for money with all the extras like dressing gowns slippers and quality toiletries in the room. Will definitely stay there again.

Dear M831800charlotteb, Many thanks for the lovely feedback and rating. The Millstream is well situated in a peaceful location with easy access to Bosham and Chichester area. You must come back in the summer and venture to the beaches atThe Witterings or perhaps a boat trip in Chichester Harbour. All dinner, bed and breakfast guests enjoy dining in our 2 AA Rosette Sea School restaurant with the menu updated to reflect the seasons. In addition to enjoying the lounge, our gardens have several seated areas and make for a great spot on a sunny afternoon or for a pre-dinner drink. First visited this hotel restaurant many years with my now wife on our first date. Have been meaning to return but never got around to it. However, we were in the area between Christmas and New Year so thought it a great idea to return to the restaurant and to stay over for the night. We had a lovely time, the food was very good in the restaurant both dinner and breakfast, accommodation was okay, we had one of the two cottages in the grounds, was very cosy and warm, quite dated in it's decor but set in the pretty grounds that in the spring and summer months would be beautiful. All the staff in the hotel and the restaurant were very friendly and accommodating and our 'trip down memory lane' was most enjoyable.

Dear skinsid, Many thanks for your rating and feedback. Bosham is a beautiful and peaceful village with the Millstream well situated for a walk to the shoreside or venture into nearby Chichester. The Sea School restaurant holds 2 AA Rosettes and head chef Neil and his team take immense pride in the quality of food, with our inclusive breakfast being no exception. Do try and stay with us in the summer and enjoy Bosham at its finest, relax in our gardens and sample our summer menu at the Sea School restaurant or alternatively at our brasserie, Marwick's. We booked half of Wayside cottage in the garden at this hotel as we had a small dog. It had everything we needed for ourselves and our small dog. It was exceptional clean and cosy for a January trip. We enjoyed the full English breakfast and a kipper and smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Room service was welcome after a day's walking. Friendly staff and attention to detail made our 2 day visit very pleasant. A small additional fee for the dog was acceptable. We will visit again. Thank you to all the team at The Millstream especially Gail for attending to our room.

Dear 60pippac, Many thanks for your rating and review of your recent stay. The Waterside Cottage Suite is cosy in the winter and particularly nice in the warmer months when the adjacent private garden area can be enjoyed on a sunny day. Our cooked to order breakfast is included with all stays and offers additional items such as kippers on the menu. Do try and return with a stay in the summer to enjoy our gardens and the surrounding area in full bloom. Best wishes, Millstream Hotel

I’ve just had a lovely Christmas at the Millstream. Very comfortable, wonderful staff, excellent food, very nice friendly fellow guests. I really enjoyed myself and I’m planning to go there in 2024. My only negative was the fact that my room had a bath with a shower over it, not a walk-in shower, which I find difficult to use as I’m disabled.

The place smelt of mustiness and not very clean - we didn’t want to eat there. Really disappointing for all of the family as it seemed as though the management had lost touch with the wider clientele. Needs a really good makeover as the setting deserves much better

I know the area & wanted to stay near Chichester for my birthday weekend. The Millstream is perfectly located for beautiful Bosham & Chichester. The main part of the hotel is pretty & traditionally furnished but there's a not very attractive 'extension' at the rear (bedrooms). We booked a premium double which was large with a comfortable bed. The room had some nice touches & was very clean but the decor was a bit old fashioned. The bathroom really was disappointing. It was small & dated. (I had flashbacks to the 80's). It was however very clean. Parking at weekends (when restaurant busy with non-residents), is clearly an issue. We arrived Saturday & nowhere to park, went out for the day Sunday & returned with nowhere to park. All that aside, dinner & breakfast were 1st class. Dinner (a la carte) in the Sea School Restaurant was excellent. Beautifully cooked & presented. Staff very friendly & attentive.

Dear H3726HFelizabethg, Thank you for you taking the time to write a review. It's wonderful that you enjoyed your dining experience, we have a great team in the kitchen and the restaurant who take a lot of pride in what they do. We are in the process of upgrading the bathrooms in the premium bedrooms, this is happening in the quieter, winter months so by spring our premium rooms will have modern bathrooms so no more 80's flashbacks. I am sorry that parking was an issue, as small hotel with a busy restaurant the car park does sometimes get full up. If it happens on your next visit please let us know and we will do our best to find you a space. Best wishes, The Millstream Hotel
