We stayed for 2 nights in a superior room on the Travel Zoo deal which included breakfast each morning and a cream tea on arrival. The hotel itself is lovely, very peaceful and staff couldn't have been more friendly. The room was an excellent size and included a big balcony and a massive roll top bath. The room included lovely extras such as apple juice and fresh fruit. The breakfast was tasty and the staff were attentive and friendly. We would definitely stay again if we were back in the area.

Stayed at Wroxton House Hotel on a Travelzoo deal for 3 nights in August.
Staff were excellent, room very clean and comfortable.
Although like most hospitality at the moment, there were obvious staff shortages. The staff were courteous and hard working. Margot in the restaurant front of house should have a special mention for being so polite even when some guests were giving her a hard time.
Our room 17 on the top floor of the old building was small but very comfortable. It had a great powerful shower and there were two fans provided for the hot weather.
Again I should mention the excellent service of the room staff. Each day the room was left spotless by the room service staff and bottles of quality water provided.
Thank you.

Fantastic one night stay. I booked via Travel Zoo for £99 for one night and this included £30pp towards dinner and breakfast.

Prior to arrival, I called the hotel to request a travel cot for my baby. They also kindly gave us a ground floor room.

Check in was easy and they knew my name due to calling beforehand which was very personal.

Room 18 was just off reception and nice size. Shower over bath and ample room for the three of us. I was worried people could view into the room from outside but we did check and it was fine.

Dinner was fantastic. The quality and presentation of food was outstanding but the service was the best part. They are short staffed but each member took the time to interact with us which was lovely.

Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.

I honestly cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

We stayed 2 nights for a wedding nearby. Not informed that there would be no servicing of our room. A request for clean towels was met with a surly response from night staff who were not wearing face masks. The noise on the first night kept us awake for all but 2 hours - bins being put out; furniture moved; vacuuming etc. at 3.00 and 4.00 in the morning. Breakfast was served by stressed staff who did their best. This is a beautiful location, and we are in a pandemic, but the hotel charged us a very full price for service that was sub-optimal. That said, the day staff were pleasant and helpful, and clearly under pressure for reasons beyond their control. Another time this might have been a good experience. Quiet nights, good food and service, and a fair price would make this a different place to stay altogether!

We stayed in Room 24, it was damp and smelled really bad. When I say damp, I mean the bed felt damp, the carpet was damp (I had to keep my shoes on walking around) and the smell was like a musty, dank, mouldy smell. We complained to the staff on reception (who were very polite) but couldn't move us as the hotel was full. They did however comment that they would no longer be letting people stay in this room! Which suggests it's not the first time they've had the complaint. Bathroom was also very old fashioned.

The breakfast was very poor and they let the hot food sit out all morning, so you're safer having an early breakfast slot or sticking to cereal. The coffee was horrible. The layout of the hotel is quite pokey with lots of small rooms and corridors, plus the hotel felt very cold as they kept lots of doors and windows open.

It's expensive for what it is and if going mid level I'd rather stay in a chain hotel (Premier Inn or Travel Lodge) where you're sure of the standard you're getting and you know it's going to be clean.

Dear Ais90, Please accept my sincere apologies regarding your stay at Wroxton. Following on from your feedback we have removed room 24 from service whilst we investigate and rectify the issues. Our property was originally 4 cottages which have been married together over the years. This is the reason for layout as where possible we have kept to as close to the original features as possible. Kind regards

This place has so much potential but it’s just like an A road motel. Poor reception to rooms that need a clean. To start with the reception staff will do with customer service training; please make people feel welcome and don’t treat us as if we’re unwanted. Housekeeping staff should also follow suit because the place needs a vacuum cleaner and the walls just a scrubb nothing much and the place will be looking nice. Our bedroom i had to wipe the dirty stains with a towel because I didn’t see the need to go to reception because there was no welcome. The stairs and landing were dirty with cups and glasses left on the tables. I had to move cups to somewhere else when we needed to use the table, mind you we are still in the middle of a pandemic.
It appears the cleaning of the landing and vacuum of other areas has not happened for some time. There’s staff shortages and everything is just short and chaotic. Breakfast time the staff worked tirelessly and they tried their best but it was evident that they were overstretched unlike the housekeeping staff who appeared to enjoy a chat while stood on a dirty carpet.
Food was nice well presented but cold. Breakfast was chaotic but staff tried thier best and the most basic menu (just 3 items; yoghurt, fruit salad & full English breakfast ) left on the tables.

Firstly, they should warn customers that the wifi is down , and has been for weeks apparently. When I asked for the wifi code I was told I might have trouble connecting ! Evidently true because there is no wifi ! Also a rubbish phone signal so forget using your phone.
The room stank really badly of either sweat, cats or some god awful cleaning fluid, which, if
this is the case, they they need to stop using immediately. The shower ran out of water pressure and became a dribble mid shower.
Someone down thread mentioned the sausages which were too dried up and hard to cut into. The chocolate moose should be served with an ice pick to get through the hardened chocolate layer.
We left owing them an unspecified amount of money ( which we will pay as and when they contact us ) as they were unable to take our payment due to no wifi. I could feel sorry for them but a mobile phone booster could be bought and fitted in a day and sort out some of their internet problems. I have stayed at Wroxton house before but this was definitely the last time !
Shambles !

Dear Hendy I, Thank you for your comments and please accept my apologies regarding the issues you faced. I will be sure to discuss with the team to resolve the above issues. Sadly, our Wi-Fi has been down for a significant time and are purely reliant on BT resolving this. We have purchased an EE network phone to use as a hot spot. However, mobile signal is hit and miss and this does not always work. Kind regards

This hotel is advertised as part of the Best Western Signature Collection, we therefore expected a level of overall presentation a cut above the usual Best Western experience, sadly this was not the case.

Be warned the main car parking area is not tarmac, consequently if it has been raining or is raining your foot wear and luggage will suffer. This along with the paint peeling and wood rotten windows that are very evident, does portray a hotel that is in need of a external appearance uplift.

Entrance into the hotel is very attractive and welcoming with ample seating and tables leading down to the bar area.

We were very warmly welcomed, and during our stay we found all the Hotel staff to be very friendly and obliging. We were always made to feel very welcome. The friendly and helpful staff is this hotels` best asset.

Our standard room was adequate in size, was very clean and well presented as was the en-suite bathroom, though we did not find the large spring bed mattresses very comfortable. Thought the very old poor picture standard definition ( SD ) television somewhat out of date. The wooden windows were difficult to shut due to warping.

The restaurant, spread over several room was attractive and well laid out. There was unfortunately some inconsistencies in table presentation ( particularly at breakfast ) with regard to facilities available. We also noted that no time were we offered a wine list at dinner. The Breakfast menu was OK, but the dinner menu was very limiting and certainly did not stand up to the Hotel`s advertised dining experience.

I would not recommend.

Stayed here for 3 nights on an Off-Peak Luxury deal but is was hardly a great deal in retrospect. The hotel looks forlorn & unkempt & drastically needs upgrading. I had booked a superior double room & apparently it is also used as the bridal suite. It was very outdated but the bed - that looked ancient - was in fact comfortable. Windows were thick with grime & the balcony was inaccessible. No cleaning was carried out in the 3 days but understandable. The sparkling wine in the room on arrival (part of deal) was lukewarm but the manageress kindly allowed us to have it chilled to accompany our dinner. The manageress was friendly & helpful throughout our stay as were the rest of the staff. Meals were rather lacking in choice but were all nicely presented & cooked.

We stayed in a double standard room on a Travelzoo deal which included three nights B&B, and £30 pp towards dinner on the first night. The opportunity to check in remotely beforehand made our arrival seamless and although the room was on the small side, it had ample storage space & all the amenities for a short break, and parking was included on site.
Dinner on the first night was delicious - main courses of rolled beef brisket & mushroom & asparagus risotto were especially delicious. Breakfasts were good & cooked to order & a real plus was that the toast arrived each morning still warm, unlike in a good many hotels. Yes, we accept that there may have been delays, but chill folks - you're on holiday & probably not having to meet too many deadlines!
We accepted that the hotel had not been open to guests for very long this year, and that the majority of the staff were young and inexperienced. But they were all friendly and courteous and tried very hard to please. We also accepted that the hospitality industry has been dealt a blow in the last 16 months & does not have sufficient funds yet to do all the necessary renovations that might have been achieved in normal times. We had a slight issue with our door lock & phoned reception and the problem was rectified within five minutes.
The Wroxton House Hotel is in a picturesque village & within very easy striking distance of many lovely Cotswold locations. It was a pleasure to be out & about again and to experience a hotel break.
