Le Safran is run by Mahfoud who can share a great treasure of knowledge about Taliouine, its people, saffron cooperatives, hiking opportunities, and even the beetles and crickets of the region. Our room was simple, clean with the disadvantage of exhaust fumes (from the nearby gas station?), which forced us to keep the windows closed at night. We can recommend a trip to the agadir (storehouse built in mountain caves) at nearby Ifri (recommended and organized by the hotel) where its keeper Brahim opened it for us and explained its history.

I've stayed here twice, once in 2016 and again in 2019. The second time it felt expensive at 330dh per room so checked and it was about 170dh when I last stayed here. No obvious changes have been made and while 170dh might be a little low these days the town of Taliouine has little going for it to make this hotel anything other than a convienent stop after going over the high atlas. In general the hotel is OK to stay but had become a little too expensive now for the location and facilities.

Arriving at midday by bus into Taliouine is not ideal if you are staying here as the bus stops at the other end of town. When we arrived, all was well. The kids immediately wanted to swim in the pool. Our room was clean. We had a shower that could not be turned off due to plumbing problems. Dinner here was expensive and we were given small portions. We decided on the second night to eat elsewhere. This place is good if you are passing through town and ideally for one night.

Auberge Le Saran is a typical hotel by the highway. It is not particularly clean nor charming. There are a lot of insects around so upon walking up I realized that several bedbugs enjoyed my company more than I enjoyed their presence in my bed. The food is ok, but note that the room rate does not include breakfast. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that staff is very friendly.

Good hotel directly at the main road, our room was still quiet. However this is the first (and only) time we didn't feel very welcome in a hotel in Morocco. Rooms are ok, nothing exceptional, bathrooms are also ok, not running hot water for the shower. There's a nice salon on the 2nd floor, which was good, since it was rather windy the day we were there and quite cold outside. Dinner and breakfast both ok, but not outstanding.

We picked the auberge as it had good reviews on TripAdvisor and was recommended by the lonely planet. Considering the price, there is nothing wrong with the rooms. The one thing I disliked in the room is that the shower and toilet are in the same facility, meaning that once you had a shower you had to walk on wet floors to go the toilet. But these are small details which can be overlooked if the service is good. Unfortunately nothing about the service was good. The hotel front desk employee was dismissive to our queries and seemed uninterested in a problem we had (a blocked shower spout that led to water leaking out of our room) An older gentleman (maybe the owner?) was much more service oriented and gave us a key to a nearby room so we could use its shower. The food was nothing special. We were seated by the open door (in February) and ate with out jackets on. Overall our worse night in our three week holiday in Morocco. …

We did a hiking trip with Mahfoud for two day with one night at a home stay. The hiking was really nice and we visited famers and have been helping with the harvesting of safran. Mahfoud was a great guide, who was very much willing to explain everything. Before and after we've been sleeping here and that was all good as well. We can really recommend this place.

Nice hotel with very friendly people and a great place to discover mountains. Perfect guides to assist you to show you the most beautiful places in the area. Also the food is great with fresh products from their own garden.

I stayed here for one night in early January 2017 with about 10 other people as we were passing through. I had a single room on the rooftop. The room is separate from the access to the stairs and had no heat and no attached bathroom. The bathrooms were shared bathrooms that you walk outside to get to. The sink is also outside. This wouldn't normally be a problem, but it was very cold that evening. The rooftop room probably wouldn't be a problem during a temperate day. The bed was comfortable but I did sleep in my sleeping bag. The food in the restaurant was a bit bland and the portions weren't the size of what we saw in the bigger cities. Internet only worked in the lobby while I was there. I did have a pretty good view from right outside my room.
