Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a beautiful & picturesque Hotel. All the best views are so close by and accessible, if like us, that's your thing. The bar always had a great atmosphere too, but we don't drink so didn't spend a lot of time there. We did enjoy some lovely coffee & a catch up with Relatives, who enjoyed the Whiskey & the many different options of drinks available. The staff were so friendly and helpful, even going above and beyond to help us out after our stay. Fantastic level of service all round. The room was perfect, super comfy, perfectly clean & the view was everything we had hoped for. We enjoyed a Vegetarian Breakfast in the Restuarant after heading out early to watch the sunrise. The food was amazing, so much choice available and a large selection of fruit juices, fruit, cereals, croissants & cooked food. Whatever you would fancy for breakfast, they pretty much have it all covered. Service was once again amazing & the view from the Restuarant over the harbour just made it perfect. Will most definetely be back for a stay here, hopefully a longer one next time.

Very enjoyable stay at the Ship Inn. Good room with harbour view and great bar which served very good food. Friendly and accommodating staff. The hotel is located immediately in front of the harbour and we enjoyed watching some unbelievable waves during the most recent storm. Great location.

Had a wonderful stay here. Friendly, hard working staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Checked in at the bar, stairs to rooms are in a locked hall on the side of the building. Rooms are a bit small if you have a lot of luggage.

From our arrival to our departure the staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room had a beautiful view of the harbour. Watching the waves crashing over the sea wall from our cosy, comfortable room was perfect.

Was looking for a small inn with character in a cute coastal town and this met all the expectations. The pub was the 'check in' (which I loved) and very active restaurant, bar, outside seating area. Very lively (but not too noisy) - seemed both locals and tourists alike enjoying the place. Seemed very "Scottish" and all the staff/team were very plesant. We had a nice view of the harbour to see/smell/hear the sounds. Very 'boutique' feel and unique (which is what we were aiming for). Breakfast choices were nice and food was good.

First European experience where as a couple we had 2 twin beds. I was not feeling well, so it was fine by me. To be honest, I expected more of this, so it felt true to my expectations and quaint. Very tiny room, but comfortable.

Room Tip: You check into the Inn via the Pub, which isn't clear. So in nasty weather you have to go back...

My husband and I stayed one night at this charming seaside inn. We had a beautiful view of the harbour. We opened the windows and had a lovely breeze. The room is nothing fancy, but was clean and the beds were comfy. We slept extremely well here. The shower door was a bit rickety but worked fine. We'd definitely stay here again. The restaurant is also very good, especially the salmon dinner.

The food never arrived today , I checked up on it and the kitchen had closed , yes the order was not put through by the lady who took the order but was then offered soup , we ordered scampi , haggis, and mussels, it was 22 degrees. I had waited for 40 minutes for the food , I was told the chefs were cleaning and the grills were off , I said turn them back on then , no was the answer, very poor and a complete waste of my time , this was not resolved, perhaps an invite to dinner might have helped?

Another lovely stay. Pristine clean bedrooms with stunning harbour view. Perfect sunny weather made it all the better. We had an excellent dinner and cooked breakfast at The Captain's Table Restaurant - compliments to the chefs! The only wish we would have is to have better coffee in the morning.
