Enjoy your stay in Stonehaven!
Very friendly host couple. Best breakfast! All things made fresh and there was a huge choice between local specialities. Good recommendations for dinner. Nothing negative to say, we would come back immediately. Very quiet location but close to stonehaven. We loved the place, the food and the hosts!
The ideal B&B? Could well be. Furnished to a high standard, the accommodation was clean and well-maintained, and especially comfortable. Unfortunately, we could only stay for two nights, but that was long enough to appreciate all the effort that has gone into making this an excellent place to stay. The breakfasts are simply outstanding, and Michelle and David’s recommendations for evening meals are equally as good. We dined exceptionally well at the Creel Inn (Catterline) and the Quayside, Gourdon. Walks in and around the local area offer hours of relaxation with much more being available if you’re willing to drive a short distance. For example, the steep cliffs of Fowlsheugh (RSPB) are a few minutes away by car where, depending on the time of the year, you can see the spectacular sight of tens of thousands of sea birds, including kittiwakes, guillemots, razorbill and puffins. Looking forward to a future visit.…
Practically perfect b&b. Hosts are incredibly welcoming, and have great knowledge of local area. The property is beautiful! Secluded but close to local amenities and attractions. Rooms were spacious and well put together - home made fudge was a treat!
This a working farm just a few miles off the main road. B&B guests stay in a separate, modern part of the farm house. The rooms are spacious, beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and just perfect. Add in Michelle as an extremely welcome host and what's not to love? And I've not even mentioned the most fantastic breakfast with fresh, home-made breads. We stayed here at the end of a North Coast 500 tour and it was actually one of our best stays of the whole trip.
I had a wonderful restful stay. Lovely big bedroom with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was a delight - freshly made scotch pancakes every morning - just like my granny made. Michelle and David were great hosts. Looking forward to my next visit.
Stayed here for a week while i worked in the area. Couldn’t fault it one little bit. beautiful setting. immaculate rooms and fantastic breakfast but most of all very friendly and attentive owners. thank you
Had a super overnight stay here whilst visiting friends . The room was absolutely spotless with all amenities required . Breakfast Wow, everything freshly home made and locally produced . Hosts David and Michelle couldn’t do enough for us . Very relaxing in a beautiful peaceful setting . Highly recommend a stay here if in the area . Home made tablet was the best I have tasted as were the home made chocolates , pancakes and breads . Very reasonably priced .
Yet again Michelle & David exceeded all expectations. Rooms are spotless and a great size. We were met by Michelle, who had put us in the same room we were in last time we visited, which we were pleased with, there was already fresh milk and homemade shortbread for us, ginger cake the next day, then rocky road slices. Michelle makes most of her breakfast food from scratch, pancakes, jam, 3 types of bread, granola, even the bacon is cured on site. It’s a great experience and I can’t stress how welcomed you are made to feel. We stayed from Friday until Monday, when Monday came we both really didn’t want to leave. I highly recommend Chapel of Barra B&B, thanks again for making our stay unforgettable, we’ll be back again. Take care thinking of you both. Keep well until we come back again x Julie & Steven x…
The location is peaceful and quiet. A few miles from Catterline. (See photos). I was greeted at the door by Michelle., who showed me my en-suite room, which was beautiful, in which everything had a luxurious quality. There was a walk-in wardrobe / dressing room, with a full-length mirror. A spacious bathroom with a fabulous shower, (which was easy to use and with a steady temperature / strong steady flow of water). It was like walking into a luxury hotel room. No detail was overlooked. Tea / coffee - making facilities were perfect. Real milk was in a little silver flask. A bottle of water with glasses was provided too. Michelle bakes and each day there was a new treat to have with the tea! Everything was spotless and gorgeous to look at. Breakfast was first class, in a lovely dining room with a view. Food was locally sourced where possible. We guests were treated like family, and the food, as well as the atmosphere was top notch! I cannot recommend this B&B enough. Michelle and David made us feel totally at home. I know I'll be back again.…
This is the 2nd time we spent the weekend at Chapel of Barras and we absolutely love it! Rooms are very good in size, spotlessly clean and have everything you need. We were travelling with our 1year old and Michelle provided the travel cot for our wee one and even got her 2 lovely books which Antonia just loves! It's such a great place to stay. You're feeling so welcomed from the very first moment! Breakfast is also so delicious because everything is all home made with love! Michelle and David are such great hosts too. They will welcome you as a family member to their guest house. They were so kind and took care of our daughter and played with her so we could have our breakfast in piece! This is not something you see very often in the guesthouses! We will be definitely coming again! And if you come to Chappel of Barras make sure to get Michelle's home made jam- it's soon delicious 😇😇…
