Detailed Reviews
Opened in 2015, the Crowne Plaza Aberdeen Airport is around a five-minute walk from the terminal building, mostly under the cover of an awning, albeit one which is open at the sides at regular intervals and ends at the car rental area some way short of the hotel itself.
It was a pleasant summer’s day in June last year as we checked in for a two-night stay whilst visiting the city for Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, playing at P&J Live around a 20-minute walk from the hotel.
This Crowne Plaza occupies a typically bland modern building with a slight air of prefabrication about it.
Check-in on the ground floor adjacent to the Offshore Bar and Grill was quick, and we were soon in our Standard room on the fifth (top) floor – whilst the hotel does offer Premium rooms, none have two beds which we required on this trip.
The room, whilst modern and clean, was pretty dingy given the grey colour scheme and narrow window. Aside from the décor, there was very little to complain about however; plug sockets were in all the right places, there were both biscuits and hot chocolate to accompany the usual tea (Twinings) and coffee, and a couple of complimentary bottles of water in the otherwise empty fridge.
The bathroom continued the dark colour scheme (with lighting that did little to improve matters) and featured a large walk-in shower with slightly cheap-feeling shower tray. Amenities were by Antipodes – the usual Crowne Plaza brand – in large refillable bottles. There were no face cloths, robes or slippers.
Our room had a view over a couple of adjacent hotels and an empty plot of land that I assume is earmarked for another hotel at some point. The other side of the building offers airport views; if you looked hard enough, you could even spot Elton’s private jet parked over by the general aviation hanger.
Breakfast in the Offshore Grill was a standard Crowne Plaza affair with pretty much everything you could want at that room rate price point. We sampled in-room dining for a late lunch on one day; the fish and chips was very good.
The property has a fitness centre, Club lounge, business centre and meeting rooms, although I didn’t manage to take a look at any of these during my short stay.
Crowne Plaza Aberdeen Airport is a solid airport hotel; just bring an umbrella if rain is forecast for the walk from the terminal.

Hotel's Favourite
Second time staying here as a pre holiday stop over as the first stay was so good.
Initially there were issues locating our booking which was made through a 3rd party Holiday Extras. The staff could not find it at all which was frustrating. However a senior staff member Karen Day was there and stepped up to completely sort it out, even though she was not actually on duty! Her intervention, knowledge and kindness resolved the matter right away which is more important than the totally understandable initial problem. Owning a problem and putting it right says a lot about a business.
We were compensated for the delay which was also great and very much appreciated.
The hotel continues to have a welcome and professional atmosphere. Rooms are good and food was excellent. The burger was close to the best I've had.
Only problem we had was the club lounge area lacked cups and milk and the coffee machine was broken the entire time. Fresh coffee might be better and preferred.
Would certainly recommend a stay here as it easily stands out as the best in the area.

My employer arranges my stays at this hotel, and after several visits, I can confidently say I’m very pleased with the choice.
A special mention goes to Sharon at reception—she was professional, efficient, and an absolute pleasure to interact with. Her friendly and approachable demeanor brought a smile to my face after a long day. Thank you, Sharon!
The hotel itself is very clean with comfortable temperature and spacious rooms that offer plenty of storage. In your bathroom you can enjoy a proper hot shower with great water pressure and no temperature restrictions like in some other hotels. The beds are comfortable.
The restaurant also deserves praise—the food was delicious! I highly recommend the brownie for dessert.
Thank you for the great experience—I look forward to my next stay!

My wife and I stayed here for a night in one of the Club rooms. The room was very well appointed and despite being next to the airport was very quiet. The bed was incredibly comfortable.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening and had fantastic service from Daniella.
We would recommend a stay at the Aberdeen Airport Crowne Plaza.

Booked here thinking at the price they are charging, it must be the cream of crop, what a disappointment. You pay £140 plus for basic the room on a Wednesday night they then charge you £16 for a breakfast. Before they comment saying there are breakfast options on the rooms for £10, NO there was not, no options were given, £16 for a barely average breakfast is a total p*** take.
Air Con - Non existent (See other comments).
Pillows - full of air.
Doors slamming closed from 4:30am.
£10 for one nights car parking.
I have no reason to lie, shocking stay.

Last time we stay at this hotel, pre holiday stay night before flight and again on return, checking in lots of delay due to me paying in advance via booking.com but hotel still wanted me to pay as booking.com hadn't notified them, took a very nice lady to go check her own system to sort it in the end, I was advised in future to pay at the hotel, the next morning I asked if I could leave 1 small case with overnight wear and coats for our return, a very lovely lady said leave it with me and I will pop it in the room for you.
On our return 2 guys on reception, no welcome or friendliness it was 12.45am shattered and was a very cold reception from them, told them I had a room reserved, they asked my name several times and were talking to one another then said you need to pay for this room now before you check in, thought bit abrupt but got my card out whereupon one of them said give it to me and took it from me, he then said this card is not pre authourised, it was a visa debit card and I had been asked on holiday by booking.com to do that which I did so i showed him msg saying thanks for updating your card details from them and his colleague said no you didnt do it, one did something with my card then put it on counter as i went to take it the other man took it and he did something, they then gave my room card and that was that, i went with son and luggage to our room then came back down for our case we left a fortnight prior, asked them for it and one guy said i cant find you on system again said my name several times and after 5 mins he said just give me your ticket, I then said I dont have a ticket the lady put it in for me to which he said well you cant have it without a ticket, at this point what I presume was a manager came over got my case out of room and took it up for me.
The next morning I saw that the room costing £65 they had taken £117 off my debit card leaving me with no train fare to get us home, I went straight down where a foriegn lady was telling me it was a pre authourisation amount and I'd get it back in 3 weeks, I was crying and the manager who looked like she worked in the kitchen came over and just looked at me saying oh i know sorry, she let the lady on reception waffle on for about 15mins telling me to book direct next time etc as if we will ever stay again?
Have stayed in thd hotel before and after every holiday but never again.
Also didn't appreciate the nail clippings of another guest in our bathroom!

I stayed here for a few nights this week and I wasn't not let down. I arrived to a warm and friendly welcome from the front desk staff who seemed to really enjoy their job. Check in was efficient yet friendly and professional. I was informed of breakfast times and WiFi being free as well as the lady offering to book me a table in the restaurant for dinner which saved me a job!
The bedroom was comfy and extremely clean. The bed was one of the comfiest beds I've slept in within IHG and I've slept in a fair few over the years.
The room was facing the airport but I didn't hear a single thing on any night I was there.
Dinner was brilliant, notjist tye usual hotel stuff but the chef runs a special each evening to keep things fresh and interesting, the battered fish was light and the gammon melted in my mouth. Great price for the quality!!
Breakfast each morning was fantastic, everything was available for me to help myself to and the staff fetched my morning cuppa for me! Great idea! All items seemed fresh and the cooked breakfast was HOT! I encountered too many staff to name them all but ill definitely be back, well done to all the team! Keep up the good work!

We visited the Crowne Plaza for three nights as a family of three. We had a room on the fifth floor which overlooked the airport. I was apprehensive that there would be a lot of noise to contend with but that was absolutely not the case and we had undisturbed sleep on each night. I really enjoyed watching the planes and helicopters coming and going, especially knowing that my dad would have been among the offshore workers almost 50 years ago. Our room was very clean and fresh. We were very happy with the level of comfort provided. Normally on a long weekend we would seek out a variety of places to eat. However, we felt so at home and enjoyed the menu so much that we ate in the hotel for the three nights. All of the staff were very professional and incredibly good at their jobs. In particular, Sean in the restaurant gave a warm welcome and looked after us well. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. We were attending an event at the P&J Live and it is an easy 20 minutes walk from the hotel. Friends who stayed closer to the venue struggled to book for dinner, unlike the experience we had.

This hotel has gone rapidly downhill. The restaurant menu is small and expensive now.
Most frustrating is the air con situation. I came here with work and was among seven colleague’s. All of the air con units in our rooms are broken. I stayed here twice in the summer and had to change rooms 3 times on both occasions to get a room where it worked.
The staff are part of a charade where they sound surprised an try and reset your unit but ultimately the system is broken and has been for over a year.
At this price in a room without an opening window it is vital that these units work. But they don’t.

Staff at hotel were excellent. We stayed both incoming and outgoing from our flights from Aberdeen airport. Hotel is an easy walk from the airport just following the covered walkway and go through the car rental area to the next covered walkway. Breakfast at the hotel is good value when purchased in advance. Rooms were exceptionally quiet despite being located so close tot he airport. Beds very comfortable with ample pillows. Soap and shampoo provided by dispensers worked well. Would definitely stay here again.
