The Fox & Goose in Barrow Gurney is a pretty country pub and hotel. Visit us and be charmed by our Georgian-style windows, hanging baskets, and a Victorian-inspired lantern at the front door. In the garden, you'll find a stylish covered decking area with amazing panoramic views of Bristol and Barrow Reservoir. Stay in one of our modern and comfortable ensuite guest rooms. These are simply and tastefully decorated, and have flatscreen televisions. The pub is the heart of the building. Real ales, craft beers, ciders, wines, spirits, and soft drinks are all available at the bar. Relax with your favourite drink or try something new while we prepare hot, fresh, and delicious food. Our steaks and grills are beautifully tender. Roast chicken is moist and comforting, and our Classic British mains will give you a welcome taste of nostalgia. We also do contemporary vegetarian plates.

Detailed Reviews
We visited the Fox & Goose whilst touring around Somerset and enjoyed our overnight stay at this Marston Inn. We were greeted on arrival by the friendly manageress who explained everything for us and the Covid-19 social distancing procedures in the pub. Our bedroom and en suite was clean and comfortable, although a bit dated. The bar area and restaurant areas were very clean and "the one way system" was well signposted. The dinner menu offered a good choice at reasonable prices and our pre-ordered hot breakfast was excellent, with again a good choice. This would be an ideal place to stay if using nearby Bristol Airport.

We came here, as we have done over the past few years, when staying nearby ready to catch an early holiday flight from Bristol Airport.
This used to be a cosy venue with a friendly atmosphere. It now seems to be a canteen catering for solely passing trade, pack em in, serve low cost food (at a good mark up) then ship em out. They’re not coming back so why bother being good.
We were in, ordered food and drink, all consumed and out again in less than an hour!
Not impressed with the food, the prices or the customer service, will have to start looking for a different place where we can start our holidays in a relaxed environment, this place seems to have lost that.
Shame, we used to enjoy chilling on the sofa by the fire after a nice meal.

We stayed here 1 night before an early flight next morning . Rooms are clean & cosy hot everything you need great shower our only complaint is how much noise there is from traffic outside it’s relentless so we didn’t actually sleep a wink not the hotels fault . Food & service downstairs in restaurant was great can’t fault it 👍

We stayed there as a family for one night and the person at reception was so rude, unfriendly and Very unaccommodating…
When I booked (plenty of time in advance) I requested a cot for our 6 month old. But when we got there, she informed us that she had no cots and looked at me as if it’s my fault for not knowing this fact! They had enough time to have seen the booking and the request! And they should have let me know before we drove for 2 hours to get there as I could have brought our travel cot with us and then left it in the car while we were away or I could have found somewhere else way way before.
She then said that we could go and find somewhere else if we wanted! What sort of thing is that to say?!?! Obviously everywhere is going to be fully booked or cost a fortune!! I booked in advance to avoid high costs, OBVIOUSLY!
I asked if we could please have some extra pillows in order to do a make shift bed for our baby, to which she pulled a face, as if I was asking for solid gold flying pigs or something. I mean, who on earth asks for extra pillows?!?! In a hotel?! Crazy…
She agreed to give us some extra pillows in the end which we actually never received!! Even after having to go back twice to ask for them.
Add to all this the fact that our room was right outside the decking where everyone goes for fags and very loud beery chats! And also the fact that there’s a floodlight right outside our window and needless to say, we had a very crap night sleep!!!
She asked us about breakfast, to which we informed her that we had to leave at 5am to get our flight and she just said, oh well! No breakfast for you! (with a smirk on her face)
I obviously didn’t expect to be able to have breakfast at 4am but I also didn’t expect them to have that attitude about it. We have been to lots of other hotels before where we had to leave very early and they have ALWAYS offered us a croissant and biscuits or a sandwich of some sort, as a “packed breakfast” type thing or they have at least offered us a free drink at the bar as a kind of replacement.
This place was just a joke from the start. The room was dirty and cold. The shower gel was empty and we washed our hands twice and that was the hand wash gone!!
We travel a lot as a family and I can honestly say we will avoid this place at all cost from now on. Manners and friendliness cost nothing at all. And when people are choosing to spend their money with you, when times are so hard, the least you could do is be a bit accommodating and understanding, or maybe even just a bit friendly would do!
Cant comment on the food at the pub as I purposely drove to pick food and drinks up somewhere else just so I didn’t waste any more of my money on being treated like a mug.
So yeah, if she had been a bit nicer then we would have all eaten there and had quite a few drinks! So in the end, you are losing money; and times are hard enough, so maybe pick your staff better when they are customer facing…

This is a fantastic restaurant, staff are great, food is splendid, and not expensive either. Good menu with loads on offer, friendly and fast service. Ambience is very good with old worldly with loads of character.
If travelling to the airport, really recommend stopping here for some food before the airports own prices. Wont be disappointed.
Parking is good, limited space out in front of the restaurant, and a large car park at the rear.

What a find, what accommodation and what friendly staff and owners... We were on a short two centre stay over 4 days in Bath and here, near Bristol... Great location, first floor attic en suited comfortable room in a purposely adapted building (parallel to the pub) overlooking the car spaces, scenery beyond and watching aircraft movements to and fro Bristol Airport for a moment or two!! Pub food excellent with a varied choice well presented and served with again, friendly staff... Oh, and the cutlery was first class!!

My wife and I had to take my daughter back to university at the weekend. After searching through various hotels, we came across the Fox and Goose. On arrival we were greeted with a smile and a friendly greeting. We booked two double rooms which ended up being like a small flat. The rooms were clean warm and inviting.
We had dinner that evening which was good standard pub grub and a very reasonable price. The dining area was spacious and the staff were very efficient with both the service as well as the social distancing procedures.
After a very peaceful night we were greeted with a hearty breakfast and great coffee. I spend a great deal of my time in hotels whilst working away, I’d became sick and tired of Panini breakfast and meals in my room.
This was a very different experience, leading me to the thought of why others cannot seem to be able to make this effort? Very close to Bristol Airport, I fully recommend this place for a stay.

Stayed here on Monday night, very handy location for access to Bristol airport and staff very welcoming upon arrival.
Had a couple of pints of Pedigree on Monday evening for £2.80 (special offer night). Excellent.
Rachel had me fill in my breakfast order on the evening and book a time slot, works really well for both parties.
I stayed in room 12, I read previous posts about road noise, no such problem for me, can hardly hear anything, the windows are insulated with another layer of slide windows.
Breakfast was great, piping hot, good quality and bang on time.
Would definitely recommend and return.
Thanks Rachel and Richard.

Stayed here just for a little break away and wished I hadn't. The only positive I found was the young lady that checked us in and then served our breakfast was amaizing. The breakfast was cold and the eggs
weren't cooked (see pics). The whole place was very dusty and we both now have a slight cough. The bathroom was
freezing cold with a horrid drain away in the shower. We had a slug on the floor in
the bathroom. The outside area just out from our door was filthy, fag butts everywhere and generally ran down.blinds were filthy, air conditioning unit revealing wires, cobwebs everywhere. Please see pics to verify. We wont recommend this place to anyone except a team of cleaners to put it right

Booked for night before morning flight and phoned to book a table in the restaurant for dinner. Easy to find on A38 five mins from Bristol airport. On entering the restaurant was shown to a table and chose our meals from the menu. When i tried to order our meals was told because of delivery problems there was no gammon or any steak so i ordered hunter chicken,my wife the fish which turned up curled and rubbery,my chicken i think came from a box with some cheese on top that was hard to cut. We then went to bed in room 9. My wife sat on the bed and fell through a hole in the mattress that i found to be a slat missing and i repaired it with a slat from the end.The mattress was old and the springs stuck out, a very uncomfortable night.

Hi,
As far as I am aware, they do lunch on Sunday and evenings, though with so many pubs and restaurants closing, I would have to suggest giving them a phone call, they are very helpful and friendly.
I hope the closing doesn't affect them, because we did really enjoy the food and the atmosphere there.
No sorry. I would recommend you contact them directly to see what they can offer you
There is 3 in 1 Dove shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the rooms.
I hope this helps
We serve from 7am Monday to Friday and from 8am on Saturday and Sunday.
