We stayed in a chalet, as a couple, no children at the end of April. We were given an allotted arrival time (4-5pm) which was slightly later than i would have expected, however the check in was extremely organised and quick (like a drive-thru) and the chalet was immaculately clean when we entered. it's situated close to the park entrance and we were able to see the lighthouse (and its light at night!).

The kitchen was well equipped (crockery/cutlery/utensil wise) with a fridge, oven and hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. This was convenient, as with covid restrictions we cooked in most nights (bar a couple of take aways). Nice spacious living/dining area with comfy settees and freesat TV, and clean bedrooms and bathroom.

the bathroom is very small (it might work better as a wetroom!) with an even smaller shower unit. however it was spotlessly clean.

I cant say for the single beds in the twin room but the bed in main bedroom was ok (but then i can get to sleep just about anywhere). there is electric heating in the living room and bedrooms, however it puts out the light of a thousand suns when all other lights are off! I think the curtains were blackout material as they were rather good at blocking out light from outside.

We had decking and chairs and table (accessed by a sliding door) from the living room, it was lovely to sit out when the weather was dry to listen to the birds and see the ducks that regularly came to say hello.

from this location there are lots of places to walk to like Flamborough village and all the bays nearby. its also a short drive to Bridlington/Bempton cliffs/Filey. there is a pub nearby called the viking that does friendly outdoor table service (as of April 2021)

All the staff we encountered were friendly, including check-in, security, reception, shop, restaurant (table service) and chip shop take away

we are definitely returning!!

advisable to bring:
washing towels
dish towels
bathroom mat
extension/cable
wooden spoon
tongs
oven gloves
coffee press

We stayed in a 2 bed sleeps 4 Chalet with decking for a long weekend, much needed get away after staying in most of the year.
Didn’t specifically search to book a chalet but searched all the havens sites, on the north east coast, and most caravans had sold out or ones that were left were too expensive for the weekend. This chalet was just under £400 for 3 nights and 4 days which I thought was reasonable.
I also added the welcome pack to my booking which was £30 just to cover all the basics to save bringing. I’ve attached a picture of what’s included in the welcome pack because I couldn’t find anywhere before that showed this. I mean you could probably get most of the things in the welcome pack for under £10 in a pound shop so value for money on that is debatable. One thing I thought could of been added is toothpaste but thankfully I brought my own. But hand soap and rest of the basics are included in the welcome pack, even PG tips which in Yorkshire I did expect Yorkshire tea but I’m not picky.
The chalet itself was a lot bigger then we thought. Very clean and spacious, the sofa was massive and could of definitely slept as extra bed if needed. The only thing we found a bit small was the shower mainly getting in and out of the shower is a squeeze as the doors didn’t open wide and almost have to breathe in to get into through the doors. But I think changing the doors on the shower would fix that.
However the main worry in the chalet is the water is extremely hot, I know there is warning caution signs on the taps and showers saying water is hot. But I think the water is dangerously boiling hot and I’m sure there is some thermometer that can be put on boiler so they don’t reach a certain temperature. Kitchen tap does have a mixer tap but in the bathroom is just separate hot or cold taps. I think it’s dangerous temperature as a child may go to the bathroom alone and not read or see the caution sign and seriously burn themselves even more so now as we are encouraged to our wash hands for a longer amount of time.
Other then that only positive things to say about the chalet and would book over a caravan next time. Felt very private and could see the lighthouse from the kitchen.
The site is well organised with checking in and checking out, I wished my checking in slot was earlier but couldn’t be change so I accepted things as they are. Nice walks to the beach or driving to the beach parking is cheap at £2 all day.
Last thing to note is the chips from the chippy on site is one of the worse chips I’ve seen. I’ve included a picture but definitely not chippy chips they are more like frozen mccain oven chips and very expensive. We hadn’t opened the food until we got back to the chalet otherwise might have said something. But rest of the food was nice just chips weren’t what we thought we’d get and the chippy overall is very expensive! So I’d definitely recommend going to a chippy off site.
But overall we had a really good weekend, definitely recommend.

Booked this lace earlier in 2021 during the lockdown in the hope that by April we would be in some kind of normality, thankfully that payed off to some degree. Despite the restaurants and show bar not being open, takeaway services and outdoor eating/drinking was still available.

Upon arrival we were told what to do pick up keys etc, (the Haven app helps you sort it out before arival) no issues at all staff were polite and helpful.

I booked a prestige caravan and having stayed at caravan parks most summers growing up I can say with much honesty that this was one of if not the best one I've stayed in, it was immaculate everything that we needed i.e. bowls plates cutlery pots pans all included very nice layout two bedroom caravan, so clean and tidy felt brand new (which it might well be but I wouldnt know)

Relating to covid, everything was cleaned and labeled as such with dates and times of cleaning, (admittedly im not that strict on covid cleanliness, however its comforting to know the level of care the staff have been too)

The site itself is fantastic plenty to do round here and having been here many years ago before Haven took ownership I can guarantee that their management has vastly improved the facilities, they're modern and well maintained.

There's a handy bus service too and from the park to Sewerby and Bridlington (i think every hour) handy if you don't drive which i didn't at the time of writing, if you're arriving by train we stopped in Bridlington ti get a bit of shopping before arriving and the taxi was only £10 from the station to the site.

All in all I've booked another 10 days in June and cannot wait to visit again (hopefully with no covid restrictions) simply canot fault this place. Probably the best park on the east Yorkshire coast

We have visited many Haven sites over the past 20 years and have always had a great time.

However we had a bad experience in Craig Tara last year due to the lack of anything to do and left after 3 days of a 2 week break. After assurance from Customer Service saying everything was back to normal now we booked 4 nights at Thornwick Bay including ‘Stay & Play’. However even prior to arrival I knew things were not back to normal as we had to book swimming, dinner tables and entertainment. On booking you were only allowed to reserve one hour and a half slot for your entire break. As the night has been split into 3 slots, for a 4 night break that is only 1 out of 12 slots. The rest of the time is probably spent in your caravan or tent/tourer. The site did say that subject to availability you can book more slots. However this was not possible and you had to queue up and wait for 15 minutes after the start of the session to see if any tables are left. For most families with small children or members that have some kind of physical or mental impairment this is not possible. After the end of these everyone has to leave the venue and any drinks are poured into a plastic / cardboard cup and the venue is quickly tidied (I wouldn’t say cleaned) ready for the next slot.

As well as booking for entertainment you also need to book a table for dinner and book swimming slots. All of these slots go very quickly.

Although Thornwick Bay is a lovely site in a amazing location due to over crowding and issuing to many entertainment passes it can result in your group literally having nothing to do.

We managed to secure swimming everyday but the night time was boring as we had nothing to do. In previous years it was possible to stay in the Showbar from early evening until after midnight! Due to boredom we left 1 day earlier

After looking at Twitter and other reviews I can see that Haven has this policy across all of it’s parks. I certainly won’t be returning to a Haven site until things return to normal. We have a 7 day break in Perran Sands next August for £1800 and unless things return to normal I will cancel this trip. X

We visited from the 9-12th.

Firstly the food is the park it’s self and the surroundings are lovely.
All staff we met were polite and nice.

The not so good...

The caravan wasn’t as clean as I would of expected, I wiped the sides down on arrival and the dirt that came onto the wipes was bad considering they use Covid as a reason to check in so late ( between 4/5 pm)

The floor also wasn’t as clean as expected I mopped myself and again the dirt wasn’t great in the mop bucket.

The spare duvet in the wardrobe had grass and dirt on it when I got it out, I was going to use it to make the travel cot more padded for our 11 month old but couldn’t.

Everything else seemed fine and had all the things you would need I.e utensils , pans etc..

The biggest disappointment of all, is, the whole stay and play claim.. I don’t think what you are selling is true and needs a better explanation of what this actually means.

I booked this nearly a year ago, especially because of the email I received about booking early for stay and play, been able to use all entertainment venues , restaurants , activities and swimming facilities.

We are a family of 5 and got 8 slots for 4 days for swimming, 1 slot = 1 person , so we would of been able to have one full family experience and one with two of us missing. Disappointed.

Secondly I wanted to book the show bar, so I chose Friday night, then tried to book another one for Saturday and one for Sunday, to my shock it flagged up saying only one slot allowed for your stay so in four days you are only allowed one 1hr45 min slot, which when the 1hr 45 is over you have to leave for the next slot to start, We decided to move ours to the Saturday night, on entry we were told to make sure the children stayed seated at all times, we have a 9 year old a 5 year old and an 11 month old, (pretty hard to keep them seated all night , even with Covid safety this is beyond a joke).

We left after 45 mins the atmosphere was as flat as a pancake.

Then the next day my husband went to the main area and got told by one of the staff that if we had booked the Sunday night at the show bar, we could of stayed in there no matter what time our slot was, till closing time just because the England match was on? Are you actually serious? So Covid safety apparently goes out of the window for an England game. Completely contradictory and clearly picking and choosing going on and bending of rules to suit.

We were going to book another haven but after this experience we won’t book again until everything goes completely back to normal. What a waste of money, if we had wanted to stay in a room for 4 days we would of stayed at home with no extra costs!

Visited last weekend and had to come on to commend the staff. Although the park had just reopened and inside facilities were restricted we had a lovely time. All the staff members we came across from security to bar staff were super helpful and everything felt well organised.

The park itself is quite picturesque, well equipped and is located on the cliffs where the coastal scenery is extraordinary. The water is so clear you could be mistaken for thinking you were in Greece.

Look forward to returning when things are less restricted.

Only gripe is the beds weren’t the most comfortable!

P.s if you are not paying for the hearing upgrade (£70 ish) take a heater with you for the bedroom.

We booked a Deluxe 2 bed newer caravan, it was Merlin Mead 1.
Firstly the caravan did look new and was spotless, everything worked.
We booked last min as our European holiday was cancelled, having booked a Haven Hideaway break we were told facilities were closed. When we arrived we were surprised to find ALL facilities were open, so we downloaded the app to book. There was no slots for the swimming pool but we were able to book the show bar at 8:15, we also able to book the restaurant, there was half items missing off the menu and food was luke warm and poor! Thankfully due to gov eat out scheme we didn't pay full price!
We arrived at 8:15 and were asked for our pass, we were not given any we assumed they were missing and we were turned away. Turns out you had to buy a day pass £30 for a family or a weeks pass £120! This was not explained upon booking or check in! Therefore we left early we can make our own entertainment in our own home and not be ripped off to do so.

We have recently returned from a lovely break at Thornwick, even the weather was good to us - no rain. The caravan we had was on the lakeside so we had a great view and could sit on the decking watching the ducks. The fountains in the lake looked really spectacular at light when they are illuminated. The caravan was a nice surprise it was very new, clean and tidy and we even had a washer and a bath, shame they don't stock bubble bath in the mini market, we had to nip to Tesco for some. I agree with a previous comment, they really should supply coasters and place mats so as not to spoil the surfaces. We ate in The Lighthouse restaurant a number of times and found the food good but a bit expensive the service was great until it came to wanting the bill when it could be difficult to catch someones attention. All in all we had a wonderful relaxing holiday and have booked for the same time and type of caravan for next year.

Very disappointing - we understand Covid restrictions are complicated BUT there was nothing to do! We had a family of toddlers and to be told they had to remain seated at all time is just impossible!

The food was basic - and not worth the hour wait, the kids had to que for the arcade (half hour) = very stressful holiday.

Had we been advised just how little facilities we could use we would NOT have booked.

You are better off booking a hotel near the sea front that way you have far more options for food and can entertain the kids.

We are day two and thinking of leaving early, screaming kids confined to a caravan is not ideal!

If they can not operate to accommodate the number guests they have staying due to Covid they they should NOT OPEN!

Worst experience of a holiday camp I’ve ever had!

caravan park is located in a beautiful location with good access to the surrounding areas including Bridlington and Scarborough. The site itself was in immaculate condition with polite and friendly staff, although due to covid restrictions most of the ammenities were temporary closed the site shop and the reception were accessible and helpful with the shop having everything you would need. Overall would not hesitate to book another holiday at this location.
