Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very strong perfume smell on entrance to the hotel, trouble receiving my room booking on arrival with booking records that weren't up to date, a bit disorganised on the outlook relative to other Mercure hotels I have stayed at. Room was ok, breakfast was ok. Nothing particularly positive about my stay.

The location to visit friends was brilliant, the size of the room was great and the bed was comfortable. Negatives - Very unwelcoming check-in staff he made us feel a nuisance and zero pleasantries. Had been excited to get a courtyard upgrade but it was to see the hotel gas tanks. The bathroom was grubby, the shower gel and conditioner were empty, a floor tile was sticking up and hurt my toe, number written on the quilt like a prison (also in wrong room) and filthy dirty mugs inside and out. Definitely not worth the money, £159 is far too expensive.

This hotel does not have a housekeeping department or a management team. If you are used to your room being serviced, fresh towels, bin emptied etc., avoid this property as these services are not provided. There is no management team in place to fix things either!

I used the conference rooms at the Lambert Arms for my husbands wake. Admiral Abbey the Sales and Marketing Manager helped me to organise the event. He was absolutely brilliant and nothing was too much trouble, he made what was a very emotional experience so much easier for me . The venue was perfect for our requirements and food provided was excellent. Because family and friends were travelling long distances to attend we also booked rooms at the hotel, another plus point. These were really comfortable and we had a lovely breakfast in the morning too. A huge thank you goes to the Lambert Arms and it's staff, they were all lovely. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Great stay overall, comfortable, quiet rooms, well supplied. Just a couple of suggestions: Vegetarina sausages at breakfast would be appreciated, at least on offer if not out all the time. Talent Night, definitely a telented singer but misleading artist title, much less than 50% as George Michael. Seems wrong to call it a George Michael evening. Did enjoy though.

Didn't stay here but had a family meal in Sept 2023. Staff very friendly but the food was a little hit and miss in truth. 3 things we ordered off the menu came back as unavailable and we received 4 separate apologies from the waiting staff. No amendments to the bill and no gratis offered. To be clear the meal was a 5 out of 10.

I stayed at this hotel for two days on a solos walking break. The staff were so kind and helpful, especially Shivi, Aga and Philip. They went above and beyond to give my group the best experience possible. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary at The Lambert Arms and had a lunch with friends and family. We had a most enjoyable time there, complimented by good food, good service and friendly staff. Our thanks go to Admiral and his Staff for their attentive service with particular thanks to Sujoy for being so helpful.
