Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

By far and away the worst of my Southeast Asia hotel experiences. Spartan accommodations---I understand that we were in the hinterlands. The bed was little more than a plywood plank with a sheet. Sheet was clean at least. Room was not. The roaches were having a great time. My room had electric which is more than some of our team members had. The bathroom had the wall shower spray which got everything wet including the toilet paper. To be expected perhaps. Breakfast consisted of a few scraps of bread and some sort of gruel. No coffee. Managed to find some edible food at the food stall across the street. We were on a medical mission and had to spend three nights here. I am a fairly seasoned Asia traveler. I don't expect the Ritz Carlton. But the roach motel is hard to take after 12 hours outdoors doing medical work.

I really hate writing negative reviews. But in this case, I believe it is best to be honest. The location of the hotel is ok and the rooms are ok. But when we arrived at 6pm the power was off, no one was in reception and foyer was full of drunk Vietnamese men. Eventually the lights came on and someone appeared, but they didn't have our booking. We know this only because we had a Vietnamese friend helping us. They finally found our booking and we made our way to the room.

It appears we may have arrived at the same time as a big group of Vietnamese people. They all leave their doors open and talk loudly late at night and early in the morning. So it was a very noisy hotel.

At night we stayed out with our friend, only to get back to the hotel and discover we had been locked out. I think we were supposed to leave the key on the reception desk. But I did not feel comfortable leaving the key for a drunk man to pick up, given they had all been staring at me earlier. We rang the phone number but no one answered. So we had to wait until 6am when the person behind the reception desk woke up.

We then changed to a different hotel. We did not receive a full refund.

I think this is a hotel for local people but not so great for tourists.
