When you stand outside Loch Gruinart House, the only sounds are made by the beasts in the nearby fields, or the wild animals, probably birds, in the vicinity---oh, I almost forgot Jack and Catherine's cockerel, who is trained not to crow until all the guests are at the breakfast table, so a long lie is on the cards if desired. The hosts...

Situated on a beautiful nature reserve run by the Royal Society for Protection of Birds, this B&B was the perfect base for me to explore the island on my bike. The first day I went to the beautiful Ardnave Point to the north; the next day to the beach at Saligo Bay on the west coast with the remains of...

We've been on the road for 3 weeks now, and the welcome we received at Loch Gruinart House was wonderful. Comfortable rooms, wide selection self-serve breakfast, and most of all extraordinarily friendly hosts! I would definitely recommend staying here if you're traveling Islay.

From the moment we arrived at Loch Gruinart House, we knew we would enjoy our stay. We were given a hearty greeting by our host, Jack, then shown to our very attractive, comfortable rooms. We especially liked the common room which had a space for lounging and meeting other guests as well as dining. The house is located on the...

We spend 3 nights at this B&B and it was amazing. The host was more than hospitable. He told us a lot about the region, activities, restaurants etc. He even made time for us during rugby matches of national importance ;-). We really felt like pampered guests. Everyday the room was cleaned when we got back. Maybe this is considered...

There is something about this place ..... totally welcoming, we loved it. I think it has a subtle style, smart yet cosy. It was as if you were staying in a friend's house. Big bedroom, comfortable lounge, amazing value. We enjoyed fruit/cereal/fresh bread breakfast rather than cooked, and self-service made it relaxed. Top recommendations from Jack for walks and bird...
