We spent a fantastic few days here, and loved every minute. Set in the hills above Brisighella, this agriturismo is small but perfectly formed, and friendly, with host Vincenzo going out of his way to make you feel at home. Good breakfasts and optional delicious lunches. Great pool, nicely-appointed rooms. A first visit, but definitely not the last!

Well what can I say.
The property is located in the Hills of the beautiful Medieval Town of Brisghella in Italy.
The service was amazing & we even had the Pleasure of meeting the owner Vincent, he could not of been nicer.
The place was beautiful & the views were stunning. No noise pollution, fresh air, birds singing & amazing landscape to hike.
Will be going back for sure.

We stayed for 3 nights whilst attending a family wedding. The hotel was very comfortable and clean, with great views from the bedroom windows and a lovely peaceful setting. Breakfast was delicious and the owner was welcoming and attentive. If you do need to contact him using an English phone use WhatsApp as otherwise you will struggle. Brilliant walks from the door of the hotel into magnificent countryside, where apparently there are Porcupines ( not seen!). Hope to return one day.

Relais Varnello has it all: a nice country house with large and comfortable rooms. When you open your window you look upon the magnificent hills and woods of this part of Emilia Romagna. The B&B is run by friendly owner Vincenzo with the guidance of signora Germana, a woman who obviousy has seen both the good as well as the bad sides of life, and came out the stronger. Together they provide everything necessary for a nice stay. Ideal for short stays, but even better for longer.

This place was very nice but the owner seemed very busy and uninterested when we arrived and checked in and gave us no information. The room was very nice but even though the hotel claims to have air conditioning, there was none in our room and the heat was unbearable. The breakfast in the morning was very nice.

Ogni camera e' dotata di aria condizionata che si gestisce da apposito pannello dietro la porta di ingresso di ciascuna camera, se non eravate in grado di farla partire potevate contattare il reception, essendo perfettamente funzionante. In un attivita' stagionale come si pretende di trovare il gestore di una struttura agrituristica? Necessita di una critica negativa che stia lavorando perche' tutto sia accogliente per la propria clientela?

Relais Varnello sits in the Apennine foothills about an hour by car from Bologna airport. It is a perfect location for touring the area, it's also the perfect location for sitting still and enjoying the views and the pool. Brisighella is just down the hill and has a large range of restaurants. Even closer (almost next door) is an excellent family run restaurant (I sadly have forgotten its name - sorry).

My husband and I spent only 2 nights here and enjoyed every minute. From the moment we arrived, Vincenzo (the owner) took great care of us and spoiled us with homemade treats and delicious local products. Some highlights were an improvised dinner he kindly made for us when we arrived at 10.30PM after a long flight, and a quick lunch (served by the pool!) the following day. We greatly enjoyed the surroundings too: imagine having breakfast with a view of hills and olive trees, taking a walk to the nearby ruins and seeing archeologists at work, sleeping at the sound of crickets... In summary, this was the quintessential italian countryside experience and we would go back in a heartbeat!

Stunning views, amazing guest house in the heart of wine country. We wanted a couple days to relax and this property was absolutely perfect. The view from our windows is an picture perfect postcard and the amazing restaurant next door (Mario e Manicomi) was unforgettable. Great pool, excellent service and free bikes to use. There is also an incredible Nordic walking trail at the top of the street that puts you into a nature lovers paradise. Walking among grape vines and olive trees is a great way to start the day.

In 2003 and 2004 we visited Varnello for a couple of days with our young kids. The relais was then more or less just started by Liane and her husband Giovani.
Again in the region we decided to visit Varnello again. Liane and Giovani handed over their relais in the meantime to their son Vincenzo.
It was one sentimental journey for us. The hospitality was inherited. The quiet surrounding, the beautiful garden, the comfortable, luxury room and the unsurpassed swimming pool brought us back in time. unfortunately we have to leave after one night. but we certainly will come back tot this relaxing relais.
Again in the region we decided to visit Varnello again. Liane and Giovani handed over their relais in the meantime to their son Vincenzo.
