My family enjoyed a lovely two weeks at Les Hiboux with lots on site for the kids to do including a nice pool. Very reasonably priced spacious and well maintained accommodation in wonderful gardens. Highly recommend.

We visited Les Hiboux for 2 weeks (2 adults, a 16 year old and 12 year old) at the beginning of August and had a lovely relaxing time. The gite was spacious and comfortable and the grounds are lovely. We decided against getting out and about too much this year due to the pandemic but we were happy to just spend our time chilling out in such lovely surroundings. Bear the Dog had a lovely time too!

Both my husband, two Bernese Mountain dogs and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Les Hiboux. The house was well set out, homely, spacious, clean and tidy. We stayed in a very comfortable three bedroomed cottage with two bathrooms, a large open plan dinning/living room with a very spacious, well equipped kitchen, there is even a washing machine, in the roomy hallway, should you need. This is all set within a traditional French farmhouse alongside adjoining cottages. Les Hiboux is located within a small, traditional local community. Much of the surroundings are vast open acres of farmland. However local towns are only a short drive away for any provisions required. The expansive external grounds are beautifully set out with something for every age. Again, everything was very well thought out with a playground area for children, boules lawn, a good-sized swimming pool and sunbathing area, a badminton area, lots of space to just wander around looking at the beautiful gardens. There is also an indoor games room which includes a pool table. Numerous bicycles of all sizes are available with safety helmets, all of which are free to use. Ellen and Tim are very welcoming and very knowledgeable of local areas of interest. I cannot recommend Les Hiboux highly enough to anyone who wants room to breathe, away from the hustle and bustle. We would absolutely love to return to Les Hiboux. Thank you so much Ellen and Tim for making our time with you so very special and memorable.

We stayed here for 10 nights at Les Hiboux. We had a wonderful time. We loved the peace and quiet. The only sound to be heard was the donkey a few fields away! We spent a few days enjoying our surroundings at the gites and enjoying the lovely weather by the pool. One of our highlights was swimming and Paddleboarding on the river at Ruffec about 40 minutes away. Chef Boutonne and the chateau was just lovely. The kids (and adults) enjoyed the games room and we used the bicycles a few times and were delighted to find 'the bread machine'. Tim and Ellen were so welcoming and we can't wait to return. Thank you for a great holiday.

Memories are of a great family holiday at “Les Hiboux”. Highlights were children playing in the lovely garden, cycling and strolling around the country roads and cycling to the nearby village to the bread machine was a great hit! The weather was amazing and the pool was great to have - enjoyed by all. Thanks Tim and Ellen for great holiday 😊

We have just spent a wonderful family week at Les Hiboux. Fifteen of us (various age groups) to celebrate Granddad's 70th birthday. Perfect place for a relaxing family holiday .plenty of space in this rural setting and the children loved feeding the sheep. The Gites are spacious and spotlessly clean. Ellen and Tim who own the place really couldn't be more helpful.. Lovely grounds and stunning countryside, amazing Sunflower fields. Also lovely clean pool as it was very hot during our stay and we all enjoyed the pool. We can fully recommend this holiday to families or couples. Plenty to see and do for all ages. Thanks again Ellen and Tim.

Surrounded by sunflower fields, Les Hiboux is the perfect place for a relaxing family holiday. The self catering gites are clean and kept in excellent working order. We had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen / living room. Perfect for our family of 5. The kids (6 and 8yrs) adored the pool, which was very well maintained. There was also a safe and beatiful garden to roam around, a trampoline, games room and boules pitch. The owners were around for help and advice but never intrusive. The great number of bikes including baby seats and pull alongs meant that we had our first ever family bike ride - which we all loved. The quiet roads are perfect for youngsters. The "bread machine" was such fun in the local town too! Kids happy and grown ups relaxing, couldn't ask for more from a family holiday. Thank you Tim and Ellen, we were all impressed with the gites and so pleased to meet you both. I hope we can make a return visit one day.

We spent 2 lovely and relaxing weeks at Les Hiboux which is set in a very tranquil and rural area. Our gite was spacious and spotlessly clean with all the usual kitchen mod cons. There was a fabulous pool to cool-off in, which the kids used pretty much every day. We used the bicycles provided along the quiet country roads to visit neighbouring villages. The kids enjoyed feeding the sheep with apples from the orchard and playing boules in the evening on the 2 courses available. We spent a fabulous afternoon canoeing with the kids in Saint-Jean-d'Angély, which was a real holiday highlight for us (organised for us by Tim & Ellen, the owners) and would definitely recommend. Being very much in the countryside, a car is a must, especially if you wish to visit places like Cognac or the Château de Verteuil, which is simply beautiful. Tim & Ellen were so helpful regarding local knowledge/places to visit. At their suggestion, we even managed to see the film 'Wonder Woman' in English at the local cinema, which was a treat with a very different French feel. I would definitely recommend this holiday to families.

Lovely place in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The couple who own the place couldn't be more helpful and friendly. There is plenty of places to visit in the surrounding countryside. The grounds here are stunning and a lovely clean pool to swim in when it gets too warm. Fully recommended to everyone whether a family break or couples.
