Detailed Reviews
Had a 3 night stay and was suprised with how quiet the rooms were. That is except the first room we had where we had an air con unit that would not switch off and made a continuous dripping and hissing noise all night. Informed staff following morning and room was changed straight away with staff moving our cases while we were out enjoying the area. The second room was slightly bigger than first as family room and late evening we found there was no remote to operate TV informed staff and replacement remote delivered within 20 minutes. So both issues dealt with without any hassle! Room itself was clean and very comfortable with good bedding and pillows. Had meals in restaurant too and enjoyed each time.
Would suggest info on air con put in each roomas like other guests have mentioned although you turn on and set a temp room doesnt seem to change temp that much!! So control guide would be helpful.
Would have given Excellent if we had not have had the issues to start with!

Stayed just one night in a family room (Room #103) at 'The Gamston Lock Lodge' when visiting our son in Nottingham. The room was warm and comfortable and they were very accommodating in letting us check in a couple of hours early. The room was generally clean, although the sofa was a bit stained and the room was starting to show some signs of wear and tear. We did not eat at the adjoining Gamston Lock pub but it certainly looked like it would be a nice place to get a meal when we went into the pub to Check-in. There is ample space in the car park and the place in general felt very safe with key card entry into the area where the rooms are. Prices were also very reasonable with our large ensuite family room costing £55 In summary we would certainly stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking to stay on the outskirts of Nottingham.

Just back from a weekend in Nottingham having attended the Nottingham Arena for a concert.
Whilst the premises are a little out of the centre, the car parking on site is a big plus.
The staff are very helpful and sorted out taxis to get us to the concert on time as they have a link with a local company.
There are also very local bus links direct into the city from a nearby stop, single adult into the city being £2.30.
The pub does nice food with a good range and has the facility of a rotisserie on the premises for lovers of chicken.
We had good meals for our group of six prior to attending the concert and were able to get a drink at the bar on our return after the concert.
The rooms are as the Marstons group and are in a separate building which was only across the car park, the building and rooms were clean and had all the necessary items and plenty of hot water for the shower.
The beds are to die for and provided us with one of the most comfortable nights sleep we have had in a very long time.
Would consider using the Gamston Lock next time we are visiting Nottingham.
Thanks to all the staff at The Gamston Lock

Stayed here on previous occasions and it was perfect however this time not so. We had to ask for our bin to be emptied, more toilet rolls and towels which were then supplied on day 4, told that housekeeping should call every day but we only had one visit (day 6 of our 7 night stay) from them. Room was also very dusty, can only assume they have staff shortages as it's usually spotless

I have absolutely no complaints about this hotel. Rooms were absolutely spotless and quiet, beds comfortable and the staff couldn't have been nicer. We booked in just for a night not expecting much but we were really impressed. Breakfast in the pub was good. Thank you!

+1
We stayed here for 3 nights whilst watching the cricket at Trent Bridge.
We booked a double room (207), room was clean, bed very comfortable, probably one of the best beds we’ve had at a hotel for while. The room itself was small, although clean there was a lot of brown stains on the carpet which looked like make up. The bathroom was very small, overall it could’ve done with brightening up.
The only downside was the room wasn’t cleaned during our stay, towels and Toilet paper, coffee/tea were replenished daily .
The bin in the bathroom wasn’t emptied only the one in the room. Walls are quite thin and you can hear other guests stomping about.
The pub itself was great, again it just needed a bit if TLC and freshening up, all the seats are stained and lots of splash marks/ food on the fittings/walls.
The staff were great, really friendly. The food was overly generous portion wise, breakfast had a good choice as was the daily menu.
Parking is abundant.
If like us you are staying over for cricket or indeed football, there is a bus stop outside on the main road. We however opted to get an Uber, which ranged from £6-£8 each way. You can walk, but an stroll would take 35-40 minutes.
We will definitely use this hotel when we go to Trent Bridge in the future.

Overall, the restaurant, Gamston Lock, has some issues with service and food quality. The table was unstable, the food was average, and the drinks took too long to arrive. The portions were small, and the cocktails were not good value for money. The reviewer spends a considerable amount of money at the restaurant each week but is dissatisfied with the quality of food and service they received. The staff appears unorganized and more focused on socializing with each other than serving customers. However, the foreign waitress is attentive and tries to serve everyone, which is a positive aspect of the restaurant. The reviewer did not complain about the food quality on previous visits but felt compelled to write this review after a particularly disappointing experience.

Carl Thank you for your review If you don't let us know what the issues are they wont get resolved. I find it very strange that you feel cocktails and the portions are small when the Unicorn is the same brand. If you come here regularly and spend money each week you would know that you could speak to me and let me know what issues you are having and they would get sorted as i and my staff pride ourselves on great service and good quality food I found it very inappropriate that you refer to one of my staff as the foreign waitress. Please feel free to pop in and speak to me Terry and the Team

This is a review of the Restaurant not the hotel.
Popped in to the Lock on,Sunday, during the aftermath of storm Clara, was not too busy due to the weather.
just ordered two mains, mine was fine, but my wife's was cold in parts and just lukewarm in parts. sent back and returned a few minutes later , better, but the yorkshire was now soggy and still only just warm.
The service was OK ,but slow, had to go to Bar to pay bill as waited too long for waiter to bring bill.

Comfy bed, clean room, helpful staff, fast WiFi.
Full English breakfast was perfectly cooked with quality ingredients.
Only improvement needed would be umbrellas to go outside between pub and rooms when it's raining!

Absolutely lovely stay at Gamsden lock. They were so friendly and extremely helpful. Added bonus that we were allowed to park our campervan there all night without extra charge, they just ask you eat which everyone needs to do. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. Value for money, Andrew even checked in after witnessing a near choking episode from our table. I have absolute faith that If needed he would have intervened.
Premises were clean. It was friendly and inviting. I would like to thank Andrew for making us feel so welcome and Gary for helping me on the telephone previously!
We enjoyed an after dinner walk to Pierre point country park and a sunset walk to Grantham lock, both within a mile of the premises. We will definitely return.
