Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were most impressed with our wonderful stay at Underleigh House B&B. The accommodation was immaculately clean and we were welcomed by Vivienne immediately. The room was spacious and comfortable. Tea and Coffee making facilities were available with delicious cookies. Breakfast was fantastic and plentiful. We were asked to fill in our menu choices the evening before. The options were generous. Toiletries were provided, shower gel, hair shampoo and moisturising cream ( All ‘ White Company’) The views were amazing.. lots of sheep!

We have been coming to Underleigh House for a number of years now and it never disappoints. We generally like to stay in different places when travelling in the UK but once we found this place it has become our go to B&B in the Peak District, it doesn't even compare to anywhere else we have stayed previously. If you are looking for for high end luxury, beautiful surroundings, great hospitality and a break to totally unwind and relax look no further. Vivienne is fantastic and will help you with any questions you might have about the local area, walks and places to visit. Some of the little touches make this place amazing, such as coming in from a long walk or day out and being offered tea/coffee/cake in the lounge. We have always stayed in the Derwent room because it has a fantastic walk in shower and a separate lounge area which we have always liked. The breakfasts ..... wow where to start. You will not find a better range or quality of breakfasts anywhere in the Peaks, the only problem is choosing what to have each morning, i recommend the full english (locally sourced) and the homemade preserves. We will surely be returning in 2024 Top tip: If you have had a long drive book dinner at the local pub, Cheshire Cheese, just down the road, its a 0.6 mile walk and the food and drinks are great, always have had a good meal there

Our third time staying at Underleigh House - and if anything it just gets better! Wonderful comfort, wonderful breakfasts, wonderful hospitality from Vivienne. And oh the views, the quiet and the peace! Brilliantly good shower and a luxuriously comfortable bed too. This is now our regular go-to place for a short, relaxing and incredibly enjoyable get-away-from-it-all break

Lovely location down a single track lane north of Hope village. We received a warm welcome from Vivienne who owns/runs the B&B. Our room was very clean, very comfortable bed, good shower/WC and attached lounge with sofa, tea/coffee making facilities (coffee machine, kettle and cafetière. Doors opened out onto the garden with plenty of quiet space to sit. We were offered tea and very tasty ginger cake on arrival. There is an adjacent Spa hotel that hosts weddings - the view of it is hidden by trees/shrubs and at night we could hear outside gatherings though with windows and thick curtains we could barely hear a thing - and I have good hearing. Breakfast is selected the night before from an extensive list of offers - we'd thoroughly recommend the fruit compotes and the Derbyshire oatcakes - like a lovely pancake - you should not feel hungry after breakfast - healthy and one of the best we've ever had. Vivienne is a great host, very informative/knowledgeable, helpful and approachable - all you'd hope for, really. Good range of walks nearby, the Cheshire Cheese pub north of Hope - about half a mile walk back down the lane - has a good range of evening meals - a good standard for pub food though try to book in advance if you can - including a decent range of veg/vegan options. A good location for accessing easy and more challenging walks - a walk up to the top of Loosehill - about half an hour if you are fit/quick - the views are excellent. We stayed for three nights and this is definitely on our return to list - great value for money in our humble opinion. We visited the David Mellor museum in Hathersage and Chatsworth - though our main stay reason was a family meet-up/landmark birthday event a few miles away. Thank you Vivienne for creating a welcoming haven for us

Beautiful place, in a gorgeous setting. Vivienne is a wonderful and attentive host. The breakfasts were very filling and very tasty. We stayed for 2 nights. Our room, the Thornhill, was a very clean and comfortable suite, and had everything you could need. Hoping to be back in the very near future

Our 3rd visit to the wonderful Underleigh House. We stay in Derwent a very spacious Twin room with a separate lounge to relax in. Views from our room overlook Win Hill and Hope valley just amazing even on a cloudy day! Breakfast is sublime. Vivienne offers everything and more all wonderfully cooked and presented. On your return you may be lucky enough to enjoy tea and homemade cake. We are already looking forward to our next stay

This is quite simply one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in. Vivienne has thought of everything to provide a luxurious experience and she is a most solicitous and delightful host. The breakfast choice is impressive with many home-made treats - expect to be spoilt! The house is charming and the setting is superb.

We just spent 3 nights at the wonderful Underleigh House and once again were bowled over by the charm and beauty of the place. Vivienne couldn't be a better hostess - and the comfort of Underleigh combined with the amazing setting and views all make this an experience to be relished from start to finish. From fresh milk in your fridge, to the best breakfasts ever (try the Derbyshire Oatcake with smashed avocado and lime - beyond delicious!) a stay at Underleigh is sheer pampering and pleasure. And as if that weren't enough, you're staying right slap bang in the middle of some of the loveliest parts of the Peak District. The views are just heavenly and the deep country quiet is so, so restful Our only conundrum now is not whether to go back to Underleigh House - but when!

We last stayed with Vivienne 13 years ago, believe it or not she remembered us and welcomed us with open arms. Every review says the same UH is the best and the reviews are not exaggerated. If your looking for somewhere to stay in the Peak District don’t bother looking anywhere else. The rooms are spotless and well appointed, breakfasts are superb. But what makes this B&B special is Vivienne. We will definitely return. I would like to say a special thank you Vivienne for your generous hospitality, you deserve all your awards and accolades.

I stayed for 2 nights at the end of April 2023. The location is very nice, in the shadows of Lose Hill and Back Tor (the walking path up Lose Hill is just down the road). The host, Vivienne, is very gracious and helpful, with excellent recommendations given. The room is impeccable, with fully stocked tea tray. Breakfasts are perfect. I really hope to visit again someday, and would definitely recommend you to stay here when visiting Peak District.
