Detailed Reviews
Idyllic location with wonderful broad landscape views but not remote with the pubs and shops of Hope itself not too far away. This is an immaculate personally run establishment with very high standards. The breakfast is the best ever with all sorts of choices freshly prepared. Remarkable bacon, sausage and black pudding from the local butcher, lots of home made elements including a wonderful bread for toast. State of the art walk in showers and the rooms have lots of generous touches in peppermints, biscuits, ground coffee and pods for a coffee maker. Overall, a feeling of relaxation and care.

We've just returned from a wonderful weekend at Underleigh House. My husband and I had a lovely time. When we arrived, Vivienne greeted us warmly, showed us around, and then to our suite. After dropping our bags, Vivienne made us a lovely pot of tea with some homemade banana bread, delicious! We went out for dinner at the cheshire cheese just down the road, which was lovely. The bed was very comfy, and we both had a restful sleep. Breakfast was gorgeous, and there was lots to choose from. We both had a full English. The sausages and bacon were fantastic quality from the local butchers. The weather wasn't too pleasant on the Saturday but after a break in the rain we ventured out and walked lose hill. However, we got caught in the awful rain and were drenched! On returning back to Underleigh House, Vivienne took our wet waterproofs and dried them off in her kitchen. Thank you! After drying off, we ventured back out into the village of Castleton for a bite to eat.
Breakfast on Sunday morning was as equally delicious. My hubby had the English breakfast, and I had eggs Royal, beautiful. After breakfast, we packed up, left, and went for a lovely walk around ladybower reservoir.
Vivienne was a wonderful host and has a fantastic bed and breakfast! We would definitely recommend 👌

We had a great weekend break with friends at Underleigh House. It is a perfect location for walking, without the need to drive anywhere. There was plenty of off-road parking for our cars. The accommodation is of a high standard, with many of the rooms having their own lounge area, and also a communal lounge where we could meet. Breakfast was delicious with cereals, muesli, fruit and cooked options. We ate at the next door Lose Hill hotel one evening, which was fabulous, and at the Cheshire Cheese Inn on the other night, which was also good. Thanks Vivienne for a lovely weekend.

We have been coming to Underleigh House for a number of years now and it never disappoints. We generally like to stay in different places when travelling in the UK but once we found this place it has become our go to B&B in the Peak District, it doesn't even compare to anywhere else we have stayed previously.
If you are looking for for high end luxury, beautiful surroundings, great hospitality and a break to totally unwind and relax look no further. Vivienne is fantastic and will help you with any questions you might have about the local area, walks and places to visit. Some of the little touches make this place amazing, such as coming in from a long walk or day out and being offered tea/coffee/cake in the lounge.
We have always stayed in the Derwent room because it has a fantastic walk in shower and a separate lounge area which we have always liked. The breakfasts ..... wow where to start. You will not find a better range or quality of breakfasts anywhere in the Peaks, the only problem is choosing what to have each morning, i recommend the full english (locally sourced) and the homemade preserves.
We will surely be returning in 2024
Top tip:
If you have had a long drive book dinner at the local pub, Cheshire Cheese, just down the road, its a 0.6 mile walk and the food and drinks are great, always have had a good meal there

We have been coming to Underleigh House for over ten years now because the whole experience is outstanding. Vivienne is an excellent host and ensures our stay is just perfect. As walkers we love the opportunity to leave our car at the b&b and walk straight out the door onto footpaths going in all directions. The views are stunning and the sound of wildlife is lovely especially now with the lambs in the field either side of the property. The suites are really clean, comfortable and have everything you need. WiFi is good and reliable. Breakfast is first class with a brilliant range of options, served to a high standard. Within a short walk there is a local pub (Cheshire Cheese) which serves good pub food everyday except a Monday. The b&b has a large lounge for guests to use and has a wide array of books and information to help guests plan their excursions. We would highly recommend Underleigh House.

Great location for walks from the doorstep. Parking on driveway of property. Thornhill suite and property a little dated but functions well. Warm at night, need a fan.
Noisy pipes wake you early (6.30am) as other users run showers/baths in adjacent rooms.
Breakfast very good apart from Eggs benedict sauce. One table for 6 and a second for 2, not sure why the very spacious lounge is not used at breakfast?
Property full of family memorabilia if you like that sort of thing.

We came across this lovely B&B because of the quality reviews ,and we were not disappointed ; if ever anyone is thinking of going into the hospitality business they should stay here first and learn to see how it is done properly. Apart from the wonderful location ,the immaculately clean rooms ,the varied and well cooked breakfast served in the large farmhouse dining room , what makes this place special is the proprietor and host Vivienne who is so welcoming , engaging and knowledgeable about so many of subjects.
We will definitely be returning.

This is a really lovely B&B. The owner Vivienne is so welcoming and goes out of her way to make sure you’ve everything you need throughout your stay. We stayed in Thornhill which was absolutely spotless with a comfy bed, lounge/tv area along with a large bathroom with shower. The views out of the windows are stunning. There’s fresh milk and lots of options to make hot drinks. Downstairs there’s a beautiful communal lounge with a large fireplace and sofas/chairs to sit and relax after a long walk. On our first afternoon Vivienne brought us tea, coffee and cake while we sat and went through the breakfast menu to make our choices for the next morning. The breakfast is really delicious and there’s so much choice, you can select as much or as little as you wish from cereals, fruit, fish, full English, yoghurts, muesli, as well as fresh juices and hot drinks. The B&B is a 15 minute walk to the local pub, The Cheshire Cheese Inn, which serves nice food and is very cosy. It’s a longer walk into the main area of Hope but only about 30-40 mins, and the B&B is perfectly located for walking Lose Hill, Great Ridge and Mam Tor etc. We loved it here, we were made to feel so welcome and will definitely return.

Having decided where we wanted to spend a long weekend in the Peak District, we came across Underleigh House whilst scouring the web, what a find ! First impressions on speaking with the owner, Vivienne was that she was incredibly helpful and this was borne out during our stay. The B&B is tucked away down a quiet country lane next to a well known Spa hotel. It is truly "home from home" destination, warm, cosy and 4 unique, spacious en-suite bedrooms. Parking is ample and for those that like walking, there are several walks direct from the door, so a case of park up and enjoy the countryside by foot. The village of Hope is only a 10-15 minute walk (downhill) with shops and a couple of excellent pubs and Castleton just over a further mile away, within easy walking distance of approx. 30 minutes. The owner Vivienne is a mine of information about the area, its history and plenty of advice for those walks. In preparation for the day, Vivienne offers a wide choice of breakfast, ample and of excellent quality and although she doesn't offer evening meals there is a guest discount for dinner at the Hotel next door, but she will also recommend several other pubs and restaurants close by.
Overall, an excellent and welcoming stay and cannot wait to return. Highly recommended.

Underleigh house is tucked away in a quiet and beautiful part of Hope Valley and the views are exceptional. Hope village is a 25min walk away with lovely cafes and pubs and great walks on the doorstep.
We stayed in the garden room as were travelling with dogs, and it was a brilliant space. Cosy, warm, with great facilities and very clean. We didn’t make use of the shared lounge but can imagine it would be lovely with a fire going in winter!
Breakfast was amazing, there was so much choice and everything cooked and prepared fresh. Delicious!
Vivienne is one of the best hosts we’ve ever experienced, gave us great recommendations and was lovely to chat to in the mornings. We’ll definitely stay again if we’re in the area, would highly recommend if you’re looking for an authentic stay.

Underleigh House is about 2 miles from Hope station (and about 1 mile from Hope village centre). We are quite happy to collect guests from the station if they advise us of their train arrival time. (We will also return gusts to the station on their final day.)
