This was a surprise break for my 60th birthday. We were greeted by Gill and John who are so friendly, Gill's breckies unreal. Our room was very comfortable, everything just spot on, the attention to detail brilliant! The garden was lovely, we sat by the river late afternoons reading. John told us of a 6 mile walk from the B+B...

This is arguably better than a 5 star hotel. Stay here for a wedding nearby. The BB is the best homely place I have ever stayed- and I have travelled the world. The couple who run it are very friendly and very accommodating. I would high recommend this place. Hope to visit you in the future

Stayed 3 nights to enjoy the fantastic walks from the doorstep. Completely agree with previous reviews - our room was beautiful, spotless with a comfy bed. Nothing is too much trouble for Gilly and her breakfast is great.

You will not be disappointed! I read all the reviews on Tripadvisor and I can honestly say this was the best stay we have ever had. John and Jilly are so warm and friendly, breakfast choice is wonderful, the room was decorated and furnished to a very high standard and in a great location. The garden is beautiful with nice...

We stayed at River Cottage for two nights while we explored Chatsworth and the surrounding area in early Sep. The room was lovely, as was the bathroom. The latter was across a corridor rather than being en-suite but this was not a problem. The place was spotless throughout and everything one could wish for was provided in the room. The...

I can only agree with past comments on this establishment. River Cottage is lovely, the hosts John & Jilly are charming, the trout attentive! I'm an Aussie & my partner is from Yorkshire so he was acquainting me with his past. We made River Cottage our base for day trips to Chatwsorth House, Bakewell Market which were only a short...

We stayed for our anniversary weekend and had a great time. The room, in the old part of the house, was lovely. Lots of attention to detail, even found ear plugs in the bedside drawers. The house and garden are fantastic. We enjoyed a glass of wine, sitting in the sun by the river, feeding some of the wild trout...

We have just spent 2 lovely nights at this pretty place. To call it a B&B doesn't do it justice. We booked the best room which had a wonderful bathroom. The garden is a delight with the river running along the bottom. Trout appear from nowhere. Breakfast is a feast sourced from local suppliers. Towels and linen are of the...

Fabulous accommodation in a beautiful house. John and Gilly have thought of everything to ensure you enjoy your stay. The garden is gorgeous and if they see you sitting by the river will deliver bread so that you can feed the trout and a glass of wine for you. Breakfast is delicious, cooked to order. First class accommodation with first...
