Our room was very clean and done in a theme of white. Located just outside of town by the golf course. We enjoyed the wild turkeys. Shower was fine and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was minimal but more than adequate with hard boiled eggs fresh fruit and croissants. Franz our host met us there showed us around and came...

We recently stayed at La Petite Maison and were extremely disappointed by our stay. Although Franz is a nice man, his wife Jeanne is the complete opposite, is extremely rude and treated us terribly. The property description notes that bicycles are available- as we were going to ride & stop around the island we called Jeanne for bicycle locks as...

We're sorry that your stay not meet your expectations. I'd like to take this opportunity to respond to your review, and correct any misconceptions you may have had. We have no bicycle locks at the hotel any more because they all have been lost or inadvertently taken home by the hotel guests this past year. The only lock I have...

My friend and I stayed at La Petite for a wedding weekend, and it was beyond expectation. Jeanne met us upon arrival and showed us around the beautiful little property, replete with a garden, bikes for our use, and a new breakfast nook--where you will find the most delicious pastries waiting for you in the morning! We were on the...

We recently stayed at La Petite Maison as I proposed to my girlfriend in Shelter Island, and Jeanne and Franz could not have made the weekend more special. From communicating prior to our arrival, to driving us around the island, to offering us another room as the jets in our bath tub were not working, they went above and beyond...

"La Petite" is a private home which has had most of its rooms converted to guest accommodation. It is located on a busy corner with a 4 way stop. This property is not truly a B&B or Inn. There is no common area, lobby, lounge or breakfast room. All rooms have individual outside entrances. The innkeeper is contacted via cell...

We are so sorry that you did not have a wonderful stay at La Petite Maison last October, and took your comments quite seriously. In response to needing a common area, we're so happy to report that we have converted the room you had (which is closest to the traffic noise) to an adorable breakfast/gathering room with a "kitchenette" in...

Pros: This is the most reasonably priced lodging on the island. The rooms are clean and quaint. The breakfast pastries are delightful. The outdoor sitting areas are very pleasant. The owners are cordial. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to Sunset Beach. Cons: This inn is located on a busy intersection. It was not a quiet stay.

The couple that own this B&B truly care about their visitors. They picked us up at the Ferry terminal and when we wanted to eat they picked up our food for us. They greeted us with a bottle of wine when we arrived and croissants & pastries and tea & coffee in the morning. The rooms are all white and...

Four of us (2 couples) came - we stayed in rooms 3 & 4. The other couple has stayed here the past 3 summers and loved it - we can't agree more! The inn keepers are very friendly. The accommodations themselves are awesome - interior is extremely clean and updated. Our room had a balcony, which was cool. I would...

We were at this B & B with 3 other couples for a wedding. Rooms were clean but small. Our room didn't even have a closet. The continental breakfast was 3 small Danish per person. There was no common area at all to gather and the rooms barely held 2 people. This B & B is well over rated.

My fiance and I have been coming to Shelter Island for last several years and by now La Petite Maison is like our second home! The rooms are impeccably furnished and clean (so important for us!), and everything is close to the top hotel calibre, especially the mattress, lines, pillow and towels. Yet the price is the most reasonable compared...
