I stayed 7 nights with La Mezzaluna for a cooking vacation with Cook and Dine with Rita Tuscan Style. We had four hands on cooking lessons that included fresh pasta, pizza, veggie dishes, seafood, and desserts. We took day trips to Pisa, Lucca, Barga, Castlenuovo di Garfagnana, and Sommocolonia. We had tastings at wineries in Montecarlo and Gallicano. Our group of seven participants included other solos, a couple, and some friends traveling. We were so very well cared for during our visit. Classically styled Italian rooms, with daily cleaning. Airport transfers and transportation for all excursions. All meals included. Daily free time to unwind and reset. Cookbooks to take home our new skills. And wine- so much wine!

I’ve just returned after spending a week at La Mezzaluna, learning to cook traditional Italian dishes with our host Rita. As a solo traveller I was quickly immersed into the ‘group’ and felt at home very quickly. From the airport pick-up on arrival at Pisa to the return journey, Rita ensured we felt comfortable and relaxed with the accommodation and cookery classes, plus various trips out to local towns, villages and vineyards for wine tasting. If you are looking for a fun, flexible and varied week in Tuscany then this would be an ideal trip!

I have booked a cooking class with Rita as a present for my sister‘s birthday. Both of us cooked 4 hours with Rita and then the rest of the family joined us for the celebratory dinner. We made bruschetta, zupa di farro, three types of pasta and tiramisu. We had a lot of fun in the kitchen, learned some wonderful recipes and had a joyful dinner with excellent wine. Rita‘s partner made music and we even got to dance. Everybody enjoyed the evening very much and it will stay a happy memory of our last night in Tuscany. Since coming back home we both bought a pasta maker and tried out the recipes. I highly recommend the class. Rita and Alex are warm, good hearted people. Other guests we talked to confirmed that Rita’s food is always very good. I hope we will come back some time and try different recipes. Thank you Rita and Alex!

Two weeks ago myself and 15 family members joined Rita online for a 2 hour session making Ravioli & biscotti. It was a massive success. We learned new skills, laughed, chatted, worked together and immersed ourselves in Rita’s lovely calming and reassuring style. She had a wonderful way of making any panic or problem seem manageable. “You don’t have that - no problem we’ll just do this” or “That has happened - no problem just do this to fix it”. All of us were delighted with our achievements and it is a recurring topic of conversation in our family online chats.. We are really looking forward to the time when we can all head to Barga and join Rita & Alex for a week of more cooking and laughter. Until then, online cooking is a great substitute, I’ve signed up for another session tomorrow evening. Thank you so much Rita & cameraman Alex for a great experience.

Rita and Alex hosted the cooking school and my daughter and I had the absolute best time ever. We cooked, we drink wonderful wine (constantly) and we were taken on local tours and saw places tourists never get to see. Would do it again in a heart beat!

Our group of seven had a wonderful time during our week with Rita and Alex! We booked the 7 night/8 day all-inclusive vacation package, and it was great to just relax and not have to worry about a thing. The cooking classes were fun and informative, and all the food was delicious. Alex's wine was also incredible, and it was a treat to be able to sample so many different varieties. We really enjoyed the opportunity to explore Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Lucca, Barga, Sommocolonia and Pisa - particularly since Rita gave us the flexibility to explore a bit on our own and meet back at a specific time and location, so we weren't committed to sticking with the group the whole time. The B&B itself was nice and comfortable - not fancy, but a clean, nice space. There was also a small laundromat just a very short walk down the road, so we were able to wash clothes while we were there as well. The included breakfast was lovely - coffee, tea, meats and cheeses, yogurt, croissants, fruit, cereal, etc. - and the doors were open throughout the day if we wanted to come downstairs for a snack or another glass of wine. It was all just very comfortable and relaxed, and Rita and Alex were so warm and welcoming!

I have to say that this was to be a sisterly trip for us and it turned out to be sooo much more... We loved every aspect of our week, touring, cooking, drinking, meeting locals, eating, and relaxing.. What a great mix.. Rita and Alex gave us a place to call home. I learned a lot and now I have Rita (a new sister from another mother.) You do not have to be a seasoned chef to enjoy the lessons you learn from Rita. Mixed with Alex's Wine Shop and hospitality with the two of them, our week was memorable on so many levels... Looking forward to making my family most of the dishes I learned.

All-inclusive rustic Tuscan nirvana. Measured in terms of hospitality, quality/quantity of recipe preparation, value, and excursions, when rated from 0-5, this goes to 11! Took 7-day course. Obligatory pasta, pizza, and tiramisu instructions were simple and glorious. La Mezza Luna offered the opportunity to craft other menus to personal tastes. We chose more rustic variations. All exceeded expectations. Whether going to market, off-the-beaten-path journeys, or to the vinery for a drink, we always felt part of Tuscany. Anxiously awaiting Chef Ritas's 2017 cookbook. Brilliant/wonderful/awesome experience!

My week at La Mezza Luna I recently spent 7 days at La Mezza Luna with Rita and Alex. I went for a culinary vacation to learn about Italian cooking. I came away with so much more. I came away with new friends in Rita and Alex. My experience was beyond my expectations. Rita is a fabulous host and tour guide not to mention a fabulous cook. Alex is charming and provides the BEST wines. IF you are lucky Rita and Alex will entertain you with music and song. I cannot say enough good things about my culinary vacation at La Mezza Luna with Rita and Alex. Rita was very accommodating to individual tastes and recommended we try some dishes we had not expected. The food is beyond fabulous! Rita is also a very knowledgeable tour guide for the area around Lucca and Barga. I hope to visit again someday. If you are thinking about a culinary vacation you will not go wrong with La Mezza Luna! Thank you for a wonderful time Rita and Alex!
