Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a great find. The pub is in the perfect location, being just outside of Haworth but closest to the Bronte waterfall and N0.4 stop on the Peninne way walk. The location is perfect as it is a lovely 1/2 hour (or less) walk to Haworth (via some other lovely local pubs). The main things to note about the Old Silent inn is the friendly staff, Mark and Donna (owners), Sean and Lexie at the bar and Jason the cook. All came out to speak to me and my friend and gave some really great advice on places to go and see and try - of which we did all of them! The food cooked by Jason was really lovely and can recommend the pies and the excellent full breakfast. People all seem to know about the ghosts but it was the fact that Bing Crosby used to stay there with his friends which interested me more as there was definitely no ghosts around for us on our stay. This is our second trip there and we have already spoken to Mark and Donna about coming back. By the way the beer is also some of the best as they really know how to look after it but we will definitely try some of there other interesting drinks next time such as the Calvados!!

We booked a family meal for Easter. We were the only customers in the pub when we arrived. The food took over an hour to serve and came in shifts. My wife had finished her meal before mine arrived. Several dishes were over or undercooked. Four meals were sent back. From ordering to receipt of the final meal was 1 hour 25 minutes. The serving staff were very apologetic but seemed to have been abandoned by management. A very unsatisfactory experience. The cost of the food was refunded but the event was ruined. Very poor.

Stopped in here after a hike for a cheeky bite to eat and drink. The young bar lady was really welcoming, attentive and friendly. The food was really good and lots of options too! It's a quirky old style pub with the low ceilings and wood beams, haunted too so lots of great stories! The only downside was we found it a bit nippy and the toilets had a really weird smell but otherwise what a gem hidden near Bronte.

Only 1 star as i had to give something to leave a review!...Booked a table to celebtate mothers day and daughters birthday. What a dissapointment..freezing cold place, sat with coat on even though 1 fire was lit no heat!. Ladies toilets smelt of urine..told 4 times of going to bar someone would come over to take our drinks order,no one ever did. After 20 min we stood at bar and refused to sit down until we got drinks!. 2hr later our food came..roast beef dinner, cold, i sent it back, the other members if the party were that hungry they ate theirs cold..mine came back nuked in the micro and innediable..i.left it.. During our meal 2 other parties left without food after over 2hr wait. Went out to car to hear a lady appologising to her friend for the awful experience, same issue cold food & they never took their coats off. Such a shame,so many nice places to eat around haworth but the old silent is not one we would recommend!

Went for lunch yesterday. We were sat at a cold, droughts table. Waitress informed us that they had no ham or mushrooms. I ordered the salmon only to be told that they had no salmon so opted for the chicken. Waited for nearly an hour, could hear other customers complaining and sending food back. Decided to pay for our drinks, went to the bar and there were six other customers paying for drinks only and walking out of the place, complaining about the place being cold, and poor food. No sign of management.

Room was cold. Staying in a pub you expect some noise but I eventually had to go down to the bar to ask for the Music to be turned off at 01:30. Less than ideal when you choose to stay somewhere to prevent having to take an early trip (we had to be up at 06:00 for a local run race) but might as well as we got very little sleep anyway.

Worst meal I have had in a long time. Waiting 1/2 hour for starters and the soup was only lukewarm. Tuna smelt and tasted funny. New potatoes dried up. Ham cut as thick as gammon (didn’t want the gammon). Both fried eggs broken. Chips tasted as if cooked in old oil. Pub also very cold - fires needed to be lit. Lovely old fashioned pub but won’t be going back or recommending!

A fantastic stay at a beautiful location. Traditional, slightly haunted (although I didn’t experience any ghosts, shame really!) and beautiful place to stay. Traditional home cooked food, fantastic service and a great manager. Sean really knows customer service, great rapport building and very knowledgeable on rum. If you are planning a trip to Brontë country, stay here!

Booked a table for 3 at 12.45 on a Sunday. Food was reasonably priced and quite a good sunday roast. Great desserts. Just let down by the temperature of the place. Had to keep our coats on throughout. The bar staff let the fire go out and couldn't get it lit again...

The Old Silent is a really lovely , welcoming old pub with roaring fire and very friendly staff. Myself and my husband regularly come to the area as we are keen walkers. We stopped by today for lunch on the off chance. We were so impressed by the wide tea he of vegan options, we generally struggle. The vegan sausage & mash were delicious and the vegan caramel apple pie was to die for. We visit Haworth often, we will definitely be back to the Old Silent.
