In October my wife and I returned to Dewar's Inn on the River. We stayed at the Sante Fe a western themed cottage. Although the Inn is under new ownership, the quality of the service is still high. So long as it is maintained we will continue to visit. The Inn is aimed at a more mature clientele. We love...

This place is a landmark facility of rooms and cabins set along the St Lawrence Seaway and 1000 Islands. We can certainly call it vintage. So don't expect slick, although the washroom fixtures in our room were clean and shiny. Expect to be treated like family by the staff and to have a fantastic view that neighbors pay millions for....

The place was charming and reasonably priced but the staff were not at all helpful. We had a simple request and even offered to pay extra for it, even though it wouldn't have cost them anything or taken any time, but they refused to even consider any options that might have helped us out. The bedroom, especially the bed, smelled...

Since I last reviewed this motel, we have revisited it several times, including 3 times in 2016. It is the best deal in our travels across eastern Canada. In early September 2016 , we stayed for 2 consecutive days and got a closer look at its operation, as well as the local birds. One can use superlatives at every aspect....

We stayed in one of the cabins on the river and it was immaculate. It was also well equipped. These brick cabins are right on the river and they have a nice view from their deck. Above all the owner and other workers there are exceptionally helpful and really nice people. You can tell that they have real ownership in...

When you drive up, you see the back of the hotel and wonder...why did this get great reviews on Tripadvisor? The building could use a fresh coat of paint and it makes it look a little warn. But then you walk around to the front and discover a beautiful gardens, dock and outstanding view of the St. Lawrence River! The...

Exceptionally clean and a very very friendly and helpful staff. Very Very quiet just as they described. No one under 12 years of age and it made it nice for a peaceful evening and morning. A very nice breakfast, not a full breakfast but it was nice. I had a great Muffin a Boiled Egg, fruit, coffee and a Bagel...

The accommodations are very plain but everything we needed. The breakfast is basic but good and fresh. The environment (grounds) are beautiful. The Manager, Judy was very helpful - a mistake was made with our reservation but she made it right.

Simple and enjoyable bit of peace and nature on the river. A great place to be after a long flight from the desert. Room a tad small with luggage we had but doable. Loved making use if the garden. Nice view. Will return next time in the area.

Was in town for a wedding this past weekend and stayed here. Well worth the cost and the views are amazing. The breakfast was a nice touch as well. We will be returning just so that we can sit out on the deck and admire the sights. Highly recommend staying here if you get the opportunity.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
DEWAR'S INN ON THE RIVER An adult-oriented property, (sorry no children under 12), known internationally for solitude, beauty and cleanliness, Our "no-noise" policy ensures a quiet stay for our guest - day or night. The Inn caters to an adult clientele and has been a true labour of love for Paul. Extensively renovated, the motel & cottages offer uniqueness in a peaceful setting. Situated on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, guests are treated to a beautiful view anytime of the year. Dewar's Inn offers a pleasant alternative to motel chains. Competitive rates and a complimentary continental breakfast in our sunny breakfast room over looking the grounds are just a couple of reasons you'll want to come back! The beautifully landscaped grounds feature a variety of fruit trees and feeding stations for the abundant bird and squirrel population. Strolling along the 300' boardwalk with the river on one side and extensive gardens on the other is a favourite past-time for guests. Many of the furnishings in the rooms and cottages are made on-site by the owner. Warm wood of pine, red oak, ash and maple create a comfortable and restful atmosphere. ... more   less
