Hotel Rustico Lugar Do Cotarino is located in the Municipality of Camarinas, one kilometer from the village, in a small valley between the Atlantic Ocean and the Ria de Camarinas. It occupies three restored stone houses of the eighteenth century with a modern rustic decor offers its customers maximum comfort in spacious rooms with calided stone walls and wooden ceilings.
You have ocean and golf, as well as activities for you to enjoy big; boat trips, fishing trips, canoe rentals, bike rentals, photographic ATV routes, sailing in summer courses, etc .... Also ideal to relax and unwind.
The property was originally a rustic farmhouse and is at the end of a secondary road flanked by corn fields. It is charming, well maintained, the proprietors are hospitable and helpful. They don't speak much English but this did not interfere with our experience. My husband and I were traveling in Northern Spain at end of August along with another couple and were delighted to be accommodated in adjoining rooms in the 2nd building with our own private garden space. The rooms were large with stone floors and heavy wood doors. Windows could be opened and we enjoyed the cross ventilation during mornings and evenings when the temps were cool. The main farmhouse is beautifully restored, very comfortable sitting and reception area and has a beautiful dining room where we were offered plentiful country breakfasts as well as delicious dinners which we arranged for separately. Enjoyed our 3 nights in the Camarinas region very much; it is well located a couple of kms from the Costa da Morte and easy drive to Cape Vilan. The coastline which is extremely dramatic and excellent for hiking & photography! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.…
If you read all the other reviews here you will see that there is a LOT to like about this hotel (so I won't repeat the positives here), however, my wife and I were slightly disappointed with our stay here. We stayed in the attic room in the main building. Yes, it is charming and nicely decorated, but the fact that the ceiling is really very low makes it, basically, an impractical and uncomfortable place to be and move around in. This is especially true for the bathroom. Showering is possible, but a battle! My other criticism concerns the location. Yes, the IMMEDIATE surroundings are pretty, but the nearest town/village to the hotel is less than charming. There are many more, far more attractive, places by the water in Galicia.
A truly beautiful beginning to our tour of Galicia. This was our first stop. The room we stayed in was beautiful. The hosts were wonderful and served a lovely hearty breakfast with the best coffee in Galicia served here in my opinion - what was it? ( we also visited Pontefedra, Ourense, Sober, Santiago de Compostela, Cervo and Lugo during our stay) - Thank you and we definitely would recommend.
We had a wonderful visit to Lugar Do Cotarino and were able to hike to the Cabo Vilan lighthouse directly from the casa. The rooms are superb and the sheets were air dried and very cozy. Alberto and his staff are quite friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the breakfast, with a choice of egg dishes and such. It's a short walk to town and many of the townspeople were out walking their dogs and such so that was also sweet. We also loved the common room and even had a simple dinner there one evening of wine, cheese, salami, bread, olives, and fruit. The town is also about a 25-minute drive from Muxia and the Lady of the Boat. Peaceful and restful locaton!
What a wonderful place! Beautiful, lovely breakfasts, such helpful hosts and great walking out to the coast! Loved this place! Alberto is so helpful, speaks English (since I don't speak Spanish that is helpful) and gave us all sorts of information about where to go! Do yoursef a favor and stay here!
