Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We are just home from an awesome family camping trip to mull. We stayed at Salen bay for 7 nights and couldn't fault a thing. The staff are so friendly and will help in any way they can. The shower/toilet blocks are immaculate and get deep cleaned twice a day. An excellent rolling stone system is in place to avoid family cross over using the toilets at the same time. An excellent idea. There are washers and driers that are reasonably priced cost us £6 to wash and dry a full load. The campsite is in an excellent location with a beautiful seafront walk right alongside the campsite. I honestly could not pick fault with the campsite or mull. We just had the best time. We will be back.

Just home from 10 days on this stunning campsite and loved it so much we got genuinely emotional leaving.
The pitches are huge with power and water, as well as stunning views of the Sound or the Bay (we literally watched an otter from our pitch) and the mountains behind, the site is clean and the welcome genuine and warm.
The washroom solution made us feel very safe with only occasional queues.
The location is wonderful within a short walk of a shop, pub and cafes, a longer walk to watch wildlife and a 90 minute walk from a regular sea eagle roost. For driving it is very central and convenient.
We also rented kayaks for a morning from reception and spent three hours in the company of inquisitive seals and sea birds.
If you get chance make sure you sample the delicious takeaway from the chutney company when they visit.
Cannot praise this site enough. We can’t wait to return for further adventures and relaxation

We spent a while deciding which campsite to stay at whilst camping on Mull for 8 days, and we’re so glad that we chose Salen Bay. The facilities are the best we’ve ever had whilst camping and the whole site was totally covid safe with easy and effective one way systems and use of the toilet blocks in bubbles. The toilets, showers and washing up were always clean and hot water when you needed it after a long day exploring mull. There is a bothy to seek refuge in bad weather. There is also laundry and sockets for hairdryers so it had everything.
The owners were very friendly and easy to find on the site at all times, we got some great recommendations from the owner for a bike ride towards Gruline and Glen More which we extended towards Carsaig and it was a fantastic day out. The sunsets on the campsite are beautiful.
The pitches are generously sized and all grass from what we saw, they had either views of the mountains or seas. The site was quiet at night. As expected you get the sea breezes so bring lots of pegs. You can park the car next to the pitch which was a bonus for us.
The location of the campsite is perfect because it’s only 15 minutes from the ferry but you feel far away from port, near a spar shop selling everything you need, near to two excellent bakeries especially the coffee pot and it’s right near to a fuel station that is mainland prices. You can access all the island by car without it taking hours to drive so I would recommend staying in the middle of Mull on Salen if you want to do activities all over the isle of Mull, like we did.
Thanks to Salen Bay for a fantastic holiday, I would recommend this campsite to everyone and felt it was the best on Mull from speaking to other campers we met on days out, as well as it’s location with everything you need right there. I would definitely go back here if I ever visited Mull again. Thank you!

We stay at Salen Bay for 2 nights in early June 2021. Centrally located on the island of Mull it’s a brilliant stop for seeing what the island has to offer. Our pitch for our wee tent was lovely and flat with the added bonus of not too many midges as the location of the campsite is higher up catching more wind and terrific views. The amenities were very clean and good to use. The wardens of the campsite were very nice sound folk and helpful. Best of all was a wee Bothy neuk were we could get out of the weather when it’s was pouring and dry off! All in all great perfect.

Also we had a cool wee cat help us pack.

Lovely little campsite in the area of Salen.

Well organised and friendly owner, greeted and showed us around on arrival. Pitches were even and big enough for large tent + car to be parked right next to it - made unpacking the car very swift and easy.

Lovely views over the bay.

Facilities immaculate. Great system in place for COVID-19. Everything felt safe.

WiFi a bit variable usually worse at times when the campsite was busy however this did not inconvenience us.

Walking distance to Salen which has a spar, amazing cafe (called the bespoke bakery) and petrol station. And lots of cats to pet!!!

Would highly recommend this campsite to anyone visiting Mull.

Given we are still in a period of social distancing, this campsite has got it sussed. The showers and toilets were the cleanest I've seen and their social distancing measures are great. They use a rolling stone method. Each of the 3 shower/toilet cabins have a stone outside. When you go in you roll the stone to red and lock yourself in. Hand sanitiser is readily available outside the blocks. Great position for exploring Mull. High recommend.

Enjoyed our recent stay at this lovely site. All pitches have a view of the sea. The owners are very attentive and keep the site in excellent condition. The shower blocks are cleaned regularly to comply with Covid advice and an entry system is in place. Kayaks and paddle boards are available for hire. Mull is very scenic and we enjoyed our cycling and walking. Plan to return.

I stayed at Salen Bay Campsite with my husband, our 4 yo daughter and our 3 dogs for 3 nights.
On arrival we were greeted by a really friendly man who told me exactly where everything on the site was and where our pitch was.
All the pitches are really well prepared, our grass camping pitch was really flat and the grass well maintained. It was also a really good size, we had our large 2-bedroomed tent, our van, and enough room to set out table, chairs, bbq etc. There is a stunning view from every single pitch on the site, it’s lovely to wake up to.
All the facilities (taps, bins, showers, washing up, etc) are really close by which makes life easier.
The showers and toilets are fairly new and are cleaned very regularly, they are also heated and always warm!
There is a lovely coastal footpath around the site where we walked our dogs and they were free to go off-lead.
They also had a food vendor visit the site every Wednesday selling proper pizzas which we didn’t try but they smelt amazing.
The location is also great, a short drive from the ferry, not far to Tobermory, and close to lochs and other spots where my husband spotted lots of eagles and other wildlife.
Almost definitely will be returning.

This was a great campsite to stay at when we visited Mull. Its location is great with easy access to the Tobermory, the ferry at Craignure and access to the south of the island.
Staff were very friendly and happy to help if required. The campsite itself is beautifully located near the bay of Salen with some great views. The campsite is well maintained, spacious, with plenty of water points and the shower/toilet blocks were well policed, clean and had good management post covid.
The Campsite is also not far from some great cafes and shops in Salen.
Overall a great little spot I'd recommend if your camping in Mull a few days.

Stayed at this beautiful campsite for 3 nights in a tent with my partner over the September weekend.
We arrived early due to our ferry and the host could not have been more accommodating, such a warm and friendly welcome.
The place was spotless and they had strict Covid measures in place which meant you felt totally safe.
The host sorted us out with an appropriate pitch for the winds and our tent survived the weekend! The views all around the campsite we re stunning and we loved the little spots you could walk to that made you feel like you were hundreds of miles from everything.
Lastly this campsite is really well placed. We found it a fantastic base for exploring the Isle of Mull and would recommend it thoroughly.
