For Alnwick, Northumberland Coast & wedding venues. Birdsong Cottage is an intimate retreat nestled in a quiet beauty spot conveniently off the A1. Bedroom 1 ~ Swallows Rest is a boutique style ground floor room that combines luxury and comfort with a spacious ensuite shower room and private west facing patio. Bedroom 2, Haven is a sumptuous boutique first floor room with en-suite wet room. It has a sea view and large private west facing balcony where you can relax and unwind or stargaze under the Northumbrian dark sky. Birdsong Cottage is a perfect location for guests attending weddings and events at venues such as Ellingham Hall, Doxford Hall, Doxford Barns, Charlton Hall and Newton Hall. It is an ideal base for local exploration with, Craster, Holy Island, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle & Gardens & The Cheviots all being within easy reach. Stayed her last year and re-booked immediately. Lovely rooms with lots of nice touches. Complimentary chocolate bar and Pringles on arrival. Nespresso machine in room, good selection of tea and coffees, daily caramel shortbread in room and fresh milk replenished daily in the fridge. Breakfasts are excellent and slightly different from the usual standard fayre. Richard and Sandra are very friendly and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. In a great location for a base. Yards from the A1, though you wouldnt know it. Would definitely recommend

From Richard greeting us as we arrived, to his farewell as we left, nothing was too much trouble. Our room, Swallows Rest was beautifully clean, the bed was large and very comfortable, and the facilities second to none. Breakfast, brought to our room, was delicious, plentiful, and the choices were excellent. We spent three nights at Birdsong Cottage, and couldn’t have found anywhere better to stay.

What a wonderful place to stay. Stayed 2 nights and wished we'd booked more. A lovely cottage with friendly owners who were so attentive to our needs. They went over and above in providing everything that we might have needed during the stay in the room from a mini sewing kit to playing cards to even q shoehorn. There were little treats in the room too, chocolate and water in the fridge and caramel shortbread with a coffee making machine and fresh milk too. There were local maps for planning walks too. The breakfast was to order and brought to the room. On the first morning we had stotties; one with bacon and one with sausage and they were absolutely scrumptious. On the second morning we had fresh fruit and yoghurt with warm, fresh pastries. Scrummy. Richard, the owner was so helpful and interested in our plans to discover the local area. It was lovely to meet Sandra too. It was the little things that helped make this stay a wonderful one and the room was decorated so beautifully too. We hope to return.…

Everything was perfect from the minute we arrived. Lots of little extra touches which we loved. This accommodation is a little gem. Richard and Sandra were so welcoming. Breakfast fantastic! Very clean rooms, felt very covid safe here. If your looking for accommodation near here, definitely give here a try you will not be disappointed..

My wife and I had the most delightful stay for two nights. The location was ideal as a base for exploring Northumberland. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming as well as attentive to all our needs to make our stay pleasant and memorable. The accommodation was kept spotlessly clean and adhered to the Covid 19 cleanliness regulations. The breakfasts were served to our room and the locally sourced produce, choice and cooking were brilliant. The room had a balcony and a sea view at the other side. The bed was so comfortable and supportive. Overall everything was catered for and we would highly recommend this as a place to stay. We plan to return in due course.

From the moment we arrived our hosts Richard & Sandra were very friendly, helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble . The room was outstanding, as can be seen from the pictures. Lots of personal touches were a lovely surprise. Breakfast was extremely good, local produce and ample portions. Gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Well situated close to A1 yet very peaceful location. We will definitely be returning.

An extremely well ran B&B immaculately clean throughout. Amazing small touches make for a very relaxed stay away from home. Richard & Sandra are the perfect hosts, very helpful if you need any information about the area. Delicious breakfast left by your door at the time of your choice, we were in the downstairs room with a beautiful tropical type terrace to enjoy your breakfast listening to the birds sing. A highly recommended B & B which in our opinion could not be improved upon as every detail has been thought through.

My husband and I have just spent three nights at this lovely cottage. Our room was very comfortable and very clean - lovely pillows, duvet with clean towels each day. There are speciality teas and coffee, milk, water and toiletries in the bathroom. All very much appreciated. Our room had a private patio with views into a beautiful garden where we had breakfast each morning. Richard and Sandra are very friendly and welcoming hosts and provided us with local information and restaurant recommendations. We couldn't have found a nicer base for our trip to Northumberland.

We spent a week at this fantastic B&B in a lovely room with a balcony, well situated near the A1 but very peaceful. Richard and Sandra are really great hosts and their hospitality is amazing, nothing is too much trouble. There is ample parking. The only downside is having to drive everywhere to eat out but that's obvious before you book.
