Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

I booked the lodge for a hen do and it was the perfect place! John and Paula were both incredibly helpful and quick at solving any issues raised. All the rooms were very clean on arrival and there was lots of kitchen utensils which made making food easy. The large kitchen/dining area meant that everyone was able to gather and chat easily especially at meal times and with the tables moved out of the way, there was a large space for us to do a yoga session and have a dance in the evening! The location is gorgeous, with lambs grazing upon arrival and gorgeous scenery. Unfortunately it was too cold and wet to enjoy the outdoor seating area but it would have been lovely to have a few breakfasts out there! However, that still didn't stop us from using the brilliant hot tub! It's also only 30mins from city centre Bristol so no problem with getting in and out as long as there's a few cars to cart people around.

Just returned from a fabulous weekend with my family, all 16 of us. With 9 beautiful bedrooms, all en suite everyone was comfortable & happy. My teenage grandchildren enjoyed the pool table & loved the games room space. We all loved the hot tub and the delightful views and walks. Best of all we could all fit around the dining table and sit together inthe cosy lounge with the log fire. John & Paula are unobtrusive and very welcoming. We would definitely love to visit again

There was 12 adults 2 children and 1 baby in our group. We stayed from 4 - 6th feb . The hotel is in a lovely location. There was plenty of room for us all. The kitchen is well equipped. The host had left us bread etc. There was lots of logs for the burner and the host brought us more when we asked. Hot tub was a bonus. Lovely stay.

Thank you Paula and Jon for an amazing family weekend in a place that means so much to my family. The self catering facilities are amazing and the hosts couldn't be more welcoming if they tried. They have everything you need to be able to make good tasty meals in your own accommodation and you are really well situated for trips into Bristol, Bath, Wells and several national trust sites. The rooms are cosy and quiet and really comfortable- we had people staying with us who were over 6ft5 and they slept well (we did put them in the king sized beds- not ALL rooms have these so plan where you put your tall people!) The kitchen was really well equipped and the little "bar area" off of the kitchen was amazing (even had its own fridge too!) If you follow the rules of showering before entering the hot tub it keeps it nice and clean for the rest of your stay. Would recommend!

We had a wonderful high tea celebration for our 80th anniversary. The food was very good, all diets handled with great care, nothing was too awkward for the lovely staff. Thank you so much for making an excellent afternoon.

Can’t praise Paula and John enough. 18 adults and 3 babies went for a surprise weekend away. The lodge is exceptional, all the facilities you can think of. A lovely little garden, kitchen was amazing. Everything we needed to cook for 18 people and also keep bottles on the go for 3 babies. The rooms were well equipped, clean and comfortable. John and Paula bent over backwards to help us out at every occasion. Highly recommend and will definitely be back, especially with the addition of the hot tub!!

If I could give more stars I would. John and Paula were the nicest and most helpful people. We booked 3 rooms for 3 nights. Arrived late due to weather, we were glad we had pre booked an evening meal. It was a delicious home cooked meal, perfect after the long drive. Breakfast was also delicious, with great service. On the Sunday we asked for a simple off menu meal when we returned from a day site seeing, which was produced as requested. The most yummy home made chips and sandwiches. 😁 The rooms were clean and our room had the most amazing view out over pond. We highly recommend this hotel, will be more than happy to use again. Thank you John and Paula. 😊

Just come back from a lovely bank holiday break. Location is brilliant very close to lots of attractions near Somerset and Bristol. Hotel was very warm and inviting and traditional. We had twin room as was last room left but was a good size, very clean and comfortable with everything you need. Paula and John were fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome and were very chatty. We had breakfast and a meal at the restaurant. Food was excellent and pizzas were particularly good and homemade. They went above and beyond also to check that certain foods were ok fir me to eat as I am pregnant. Would definitely recommend and come again. Thank you to you both for a lovely stay :)

Stayed here for 2 nights. Absolutely beautiful scenery, and such an accommodating and wonderful couple who run it. Friendly, helpful and nothing too much trouble, and as for the food, we ate in both nights, the food is fantastic! We are definately putting here on our return list of places to stay. Thank you to both Paula and John for making our mini break so lovely.
