Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On Saturday 11th November 2023 we held our Diamond Wedding Celebration with 28 family members and friends at The Nest Hotel, Buriton. On arrival Emily, Amanda and Shane made us all very welcome. Emily beforehand had been extremely helpful in planning the event with us. On the day, Emily and Amanda were so attentive to everyone and our guests were very impressed with Emily's professionalism ensuring everything ran smoothly. The food was excellent - very well presented and enjoyable. Compliments to the Chefs. Thirteen of us stayed overnight in The Nests 'Bird' named comfortable rooms and enjoyed breakfast in the morning served by Emily and Amanda. We all came away reflecting on a most successful, memorable and enjoyable celebration. Thank you to all the staff at the Nest Hotel.

Lovely lunch with three friends at The Nest. There’s a wide menu with lots of choice (and lots of home-made options too). The restaurant area has a nice ambience, comfy cushions and teal/orange colour scheme. The small plate 2 course lunch was excellent value at £15 and all our meals were delicious (and not that small either). We opted for the home cured ham and egg, the fish and chips and the chilli con carne - all were very tasty and nicely presented. The desserts - home made sticky toffee pudding, lemon tart or choice of ice creams were also lovely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and gave us plenty of time to sit and enjoy each others company. No rush here to be out of the door in ninety minutes! It was busy on Friday lunch time so best to book a table. Free car parking at the rear of the pub.

Another visit to The Nest, this time for a family birthday celebration. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble to make your visit a truly enjoyable experience. An excellent menu with something for everyone, including the little ones. The quality of the food is excellent, thoroughly enjoyed it. Service is excellent, what more can I say, except thank you to Shane and the family for another great dining experience. If you have never been before, try it, you will not be disappointed.

Went for Sunday lunch with family, inc. 4 children. Great variety to choose from on the menu with a specials board. Food absolutely amazing! Quality & portion sizes, fab. Warm, and cosy feel (in general, and decor). Spotlessly clean throughout including the toilets. Staff very attentive, and helpful - nothing too much trouble at all! I would highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed!

The Eagle room we stayed in was nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast was ideal for us, with freshly made coffee and tasty croissants etc. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Excellent decor excellent choice of beers and menu. This I guess is what you would call a boutique hotel and eatery. The food is presented beautifully and tastes as good as it looks. Very much the centre of the village for entertainment quizzes curry nights or bingo Its all going on at some point in the week. Suggest booking to make sure you get a table if you’re eating. Host and hostel couldn’t be more helpful.

Dined on Saturday night with friends who had previously been here. I'd say it was more of a Gastropub, yes it is a little more expensive but like everything in life you get what you pay for. The food was delicious and portion sizes were really good. It is extremely clean, and the decor is fresh and modern. We had interactions with a lovely waitress who was very polite and friendly and also the lady owner who gave us some background on how the pub has come back into their family. We will return for Sunday lunch very soon for sure.

Was recommended by many after asking where to go for a good home cooked roast. Honestly can not praise this place enough and deserves more then 5 stars. Absolutely beautiful inside and very warm feeling for the 1st of October. Extremely friendly family run hotel with polite and very welcoming staff. The food was absolutely amazing, the starter was a very good portion and the roast was very filling with superb mouth watering beef and pork (crackling yum) loads potatoes, amazing stuffing, yourskshire pudding and a side bowl of veg. Personally think the price is very fare for the quality of ingredients and excellent chef skills. Unfortunately couldn't find room for dessert so will be returning and make sure I have room. Looking forward to go back and trying other things on the menu.

Literally my favourite restaurant AND hotel. I’ve stayed in four of the different bird themed rooms now (Barn Owl, Eagle, Peacock and Buzzard) and each one has been even more flawless than the last. I adore the claw foot baths in some of their larger rooms, and the attention to detail in each room is second to none. Always super clean and tidy. Their bathrooms are stocked with the nicest smelling goodies too! Everyone who works there is friendly, chatty and just all round bloody lush. I work as an influencer and rooms are not only comfy and cozy but also HIGHLY Instagrammable (if that’s what you’re booking for!) Location wise there’s loads of gorgeous walks around, the scenery is gorgeous. It’s also not loud at all despite the busy downstairs, no matter which room you’re in. Food wise? It’s amazing. A plethora of gluten free options, the food is always quick out, hot and absolutely delicious. I’m proudly making my way through the menu and I’m yet to find something I dislike. The specials are always on point too! To summarise, this is the place you need to visit when you’re in Buriton. Wouldn’t catch me anywhere else. 10/10.

We stayed for one night at The Nest whilst walking on the South Downs Way. It was a delightful experience in every respect. We received the warmest of welcomes from Emily, had a lovely room and ate an absolutely delicious meal with impeccable service. The Bird family are wonderful hosts and have done a brilliant job of making The Nest a cosy, stylish and welcoming place to stay. We unreservedly recommend The Nest to all visitors.
