Karioi lodge is a quaint hostel. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and beds comfy. The kitchen is big with plenty of utensils, pots, pans and cutlery and enough prep space so many people in the kitchen doesn't make you feel claustrophobic. The living area attached to the kitchen is the most homely part. The old couches and arm chairs...

We have been working here for a month. The team is very kind and it is probably the best place to lern surfing!! It's a bit away from town but there is a shuttle that goes into town. The town is lovely try the fish and chips and the sushi <3

Great location and brilliant views over the sea. Mattresses were not comfortable though so I had quite a restless night. Staff are all very friendly. There is also a great look out space to watch the sun set and glow worms that are visible at night.

Lovely little hide away retreat. A great little gem for any backpacker. Awesome place to chill out or learn to surf with one of their awesome surf packages. Raglan itself is a charming town with no end of funky surf shops and interesting thrift stores to find something unique.

We went to the lodge as part of a Raglan Surf School tour which is run by the same team and had a total blast. The lodge is gorgeous nestle in a stunning bush and Bing our surf instructor was on the ball all afternoon helping us perfect our technique. Kudos to the team!

This place has lots of room and authentic charm. The kitchen is totally equipped with everything you could ask for and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The vibe is very "island style" with lots of vegetation and privacy and yet only a short ride to town. The owners are very nice, friendly, approachable and knowledgeable, especially about surfing. We...

I spent a night there (can't recommend it) and left my towel there. I realized it after just leaving town and called/emailed them immediately. The "staff" was the rudest I have ever seen and they don't offer to make any offer to get the towel back to me. I know exactly where I left it (in the private room I...

I spent the day working on my laptop in town. At 9:15 PM I asked the restaurant to call me a taxi but they informed me that there was not a taxi in town, so I started the 1:40 minute walk back to the hostel figuring I would hitchhike. After walking 30 minutes and having only a few cars pass...

This is a beautiful little escape into the woods! Loved the vibes and views. The staff was very helpful and nice. Not a far walk to Whale Bay, but would have been a bit better if I would've had a car.

If you're looking for a nice get away then Karioi lodge is the perfect spot. Tucked right into the trees you'll find an outdoor kitchen and all of the cozy bedrooms. There's even a lookout point to watch the sunset. I would happily stay there again.
