Just home from our stay in this amazing hotel. We were a bit weary as everyone is in these times but as soon as we walked through the door you could see the steps taken to make sure all guests and staff followed the guidelines with ease. Joesphine was the girl that checked us in such a polite and vibrant young lady who upgraded us and was so helpfull from start to finish. the room was spotless clean spacious and airy and the bed was that good i wanted to take it with me !! The food in Kavanaghs bar was fab with very reasonable pricing and the staff again out did themselves with their service and hospitality chatting away to us as they were working. Overall cannot fault anything and will be back as soon as we can thank you all for a wonderfull stay x

Staff were excellent , courteous that work hard .
A few things to mention ,
Was served soup on both nights, no soup spoon but was left a fork. ?????

On the second night they ran out of Sauvignon Blanc couldn’t believe that....

Asked for more soaps was given the bare minimum one shampoo small bottle and shower gel for 2 people

I know we are difficult times but

Pool not worth it for 45 minutes
Queueing for meals not worth it .

Dear DavidM, Let me begin by saying thank you for providing me with your feedback. It gives me a great sense of pride to see you mention the staff in such a high regard we are very lucky here to have such a hard working team behind us here. I apologise that there was some hiccups along the way from the F and b Point of view and i will be sure to investigate this. I do apologise that you found the duration of your pool time to be too short but in order to accomodate everybody it is essential. I do hope you choose to come back to us in the near future and let us change your opinion. Kind Regards Gemma Jordan General Manager

We had family stay in The Mcwilliam last night and joined them for dinner. We ate in Kavanaghs bar, we hadn't seen it since they done it up. What a transformation! We booked the six o clock sitting. We were greeted by Eimear who was so friendly and welcoming. The food was out of this world. Everyone at our table commented on how amazing it was. Service was spot on, our order was taken quickly and we had our meals in no time. The waiters were great craic and so friendly! We will definitely be back very soon! Precautions regarding Covid-19 were brilliant. Hand sanitiser at each entrance and door, waiters were all wearing facemaks (can't be easy!) social distancing in place all over the hotel. Not an easy job to do in the current climate but the gang at The McWilliam are leaders and take it in their stride. Other restaurants and hotels could learn a good bit from them! 5 star service with 5 star staff. Keep it up guys! Can't wait to come back.

We have just returned from a weekend in this hotel. I’ll start off with we booked a family room and things didn’t got off to good start we got to room and noticed we couldn’t knock the heating off we rang reception later that night as room was still roasting and said they would see could they get it sorted they didn’t,as my wife is heavily pregnant this wasn’t an ideal situation for her,we got little sleep first night and went to reception in morning and they moved us to another room they should have offered us this when we rang down !
As for the service in the bar it was a shambles it got off to good start as our mains came out quick but it was all downhill after that, no cutlery with meal or condiments had to ask server for them then my wife ordered a dessert 40 minutes later no sign and her tea had gone cold at this stage asked a server to check she never got back to me ask another it came 10 minutes later told it was a mix up in kitchen! Then I ordered a Guinness and two meals for the kids as they had been in kids club 20 minutes later no sign of Guinness I went to bar and in fairness I got a very helpful young man who said the order was never placed by the guy who took the order! So we went again 2nd night and unbelievably they balls it up again 50 minutes waiting for food again had to go to bar to check where food was! Little tip for the servers us the notepad you have to write orders down instead of trying to memorize it and set table when you take order !The changing area is the swimming pool is very run Down takes away from good swimming pool. On a positive the kids club is excellent and the food was great too when it did arrived!
Definitely not 4 star hotel 3 star at best

My mum and myself stayed in room 222 on Friday night 3rd July.
My issue started the next morning when i went to have a coffee in the room, both the decaf coffees were out of date since March 2020.  When i mentioned this to my mum she said "i didnt want to say anything but" and this is when she told me on arrival to our room the afternoon before there was a present looking at her in the toilet, to be blunt a number 2!!  I was horrified as this brings into question the sanitisation of the room prior to our arrival, and mainly the toilet and bathroom been sanitised and Aerosol droplets produced by mum flushing the offending toilet.  In hindsight i did wonder why the cleaning lady burst into our room not 5 minutes after our arrival, perhaps she was aware of what she had failed to cleanup?  This is a serious breech of health and safety and in the midst of covid-19 most worrying. I advised the girl on reception on checkout of both issues and handed her the out of date coffees but she was quite blase. Since roughly 2pm Saturday my mum had an upset stomach and the runs but thankfully it ran its course and she recovered. I emailed management of my complaint but frankly their response was lacking. To just be told how wonderful their staff was, how they have not 1, not 2 cleaners, but also a supervisor and a manager that checks every room before a guest arrives, the manager who rang me sadly missed my point. Not one of these wonderful people noted a poo sitting in a toilet and that the toilet was clearly not sanitized, and not one of them noted and removed the coffee which was out of date since March 2020. Mistakes happen but in light of covid apologies do not suffice, I shall not let this one go. I can simply vote with my feet. We have stayed in this hotel before, I have also reviewed them on here before, but in light of this experience we shall be taking our custom elsewhere in future.

We received a gift voucher from a family member and decided to stay a night.
Down side no interconnecting rooms, so we booked a family room and a single room.

Check in was fine, friendly staff.

Room was fine, clean and tidy. Rooms can be noisy from other guests in the corridors and slamming doors

We went down for late lunch with the children 4.30pm. This was not a good experience.
We were greeted by a staff member Nathan and he showed us to our table.
We explained we would be back at 6pm for a meal as a family and we wanted to just feed the children at this time. Be said this was fine and no need to book for later.
The staff in the restaurant were terrible, really disorganised.
Didnt seem to have a clue what they were doing.

We ordered 1 pint, water for the children and 2 teas, pasta with tomato sauce for the children.
We literally waited 20 mins for the drinks I'm not exaggerating I timed it.

When the pasta arrived it was a cheese sauce, I was confused and asked if we could have tomato sauce and that's what the menu said.

The waitress returned with tomato sauce which was a tin of chopped tomatoes blitzed. The acid in it was awful. I was told we had asked for cheese sauce, I can assure you we did not!

When the drinks finally arrived, we got the pint the water and a pot of tea for 2. I had to ask the waitress for cups, and milk. She looked at me like I had 2 heads.
Youd think this was a given seeing as you ordered tea but obviously not.

Was it busy in the restaurant hence the disorganised state. No only 4 other guests ( 2 per table)

We said we would eat again with the kids, give them a second chance.

We got off to a rocky start but finally got an ok meal.

Arrived at 6PM and was greeted by nathan again, he asked if wed booked and said no ( he had told us no need) had to wait 10mins for him to check.
There was clearly seats and tables free.
A manager came over while Nathan was off checking for the table.
She showed us to the restaurant which we were literally the only people in the room.
We were served by a waitress unsure of her name but she put the team from earlier to shame. Completely different experience, please get this lady to show the others how to serve customers.
Food was okay, hot and tasty.

Breakfast was very average but ok.

We have been staying in the McWilliams hotel every year for an extended family reunion. It is a great chance for members of our extended family to spend time with grandchildren, nephew, nieces and siblings, and catch up with old friends who still live in the area. We generally stay at the hotel for a number of days and then do day trips to nearby attractions and places of sentimental value such as schools and churches.

Every hotel has difficulty in providing a high level of service all the time despite their best efforts and we understand this especially during a pandemic. Unfortunately the food wasn't of a high standard with the exception of the cooked breakfast. We ordered pizza late in the evening for the kids and it is the first time I have seen children refuse to eat pizza. The restaurant unfortunately was very poor. So we ate there once and only once during our stay.

There are other numerous minor complaints or disappointments between our expectations of the hotel and our previous experiences . But in fairness to the hotel this would not prevent us from using it.

My main concern is that we were treated extremely poorly and rudely by the bar staff and night porters. The hotel has a policy of closing the bar at 11 pm sharp without any notice except a printed warning at the entrance to the bar and the counter. Thereafter residents are expected to go to their rooms promptly. Initially this was comical with night porters visiting each table in the lobby in turn informing residents young and old to go to their rooms immediately. When we didn't react with the haste required of the night porters they threatened to call an garda siochána. An offer that we gladly accepted and told the night porters we would no longer communicate with them and would only do so with a manager. A manager eventually and reluctant appeared who offered no reason as to why we were being treated so harshly.

At this point we decided to retreat to our rooms and put the horrible incident behind us. Thankfully all the children did not experience this however there were teenage children for other families in the lobby at the time. However I was absolutely shocked and deeply offended to the treatment of my elderly parents and their siblings. We managed to keep the situation from spiralling out of control. But the treatment were received was deplorable.

The next morning we asked to speak with a manager, repeatedly, who eventually met us in the lobby. She never fully introduced herself beyond her title as General Manager. We told her what happen and explained that we would never stay at the hotel again. She thanked us for our feedback, said it would be raised internally with HR and that was the end of the matter.

I am very sorry for the rest of the staff who were lovely, always helpful and treated us with respect.

We will not use this hotel in the future.

We had a lovely stay here for our staycation. The staff are all warm and welcoming, the restaurant is well priced with reasonable choices- even for the vegetarian. Loves the pool and was nice and clean. This said the rooms were not. The lobby is clean and it stops there. The carpets in shared areas are dirty and don’t seem to get cleaned. Our bath had hairs in it on arrival and mould around the tub and on the floor. The daily cleaning schedule of the room involves making the bed and putting in new towels, the carpet was not hoovered or surfaces wiped down. We were awoken on each evening by either the hen party sitting out in the lobby area or the golf groups again out drinking and talking loudly. Despite this and the weather we had a great stay and would recommend for families.

After a bad experience in Galway where we were only a number we arrived at this hotel not really enjoying out staycation. Boy did we get a surprise.
From the second we arrived in the lobby the staff could not have done more or been more friendly to us.
The receptionist met us with a hugh smile and a great attitude. Check in was effortless. Every aspect of the hotel was explained and the Covid 19 policy was outlined in a simple and effective manner.
Our room was sealed and all handles covered in an antibacterial film. The room itself was a big twin room with a massive flat screen television. Overall and excellent room.
We had booked afternoon tea. Again this was served efficiently by pleasant staff. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were very tasty. I would recommend this experience highly.
After a rest to digest the food we used the leisure facilities which we spotless and again staffed by friendly and helpful staff.
We had dinner in the bar but after afternoon tea we were stuffed and could only manage to share a pizza which was made fresh and was excellent.
We was served by Emma ( the hotel manager) and again the choice was very good and the quality excellent. Yet again everything was done in a friendly family manner and the staff seemed to be enjoying working in this very friendly hotel.
Overall a great experience at a competitive price and I have no hesitation in saying that we will be back.

Dear Guest, Thank you for you for your enquiry. Unfortunately, in county Mayo it would be very difficult to source Uber. Taxi fare from Knock airport to Claremorris will cost you approximately €40-€50 one-way. It would be quiet challenging to get taxi at the airport itself, but we will be happy to organize local taxi company to provide you with their services if necessary. If you wish for us to make the booking for you or if we can assist you with anything else prior your arrival, please do not hesitate to contact us directly. Warmest regards, Lukas Kodl General Manager The McWilliam Park Hotel
