San Lorenzo is one of the oldest buildings in Poppi and it abuts the external walls of the castle. Its chapel was built in the XI century. The building was entirely restored and the hotel opened in 2006. With its 9 rooms with selected furniture, its terrace with an amazing view on the valley and the castle and its huge olive tree park, San Lorenzo is the perfect location for your holidays!

Albergo San Lorenzo is a small, quiet hotel in the beautiful little town of Poppi. We arrived by car and it took us a little while to find the hotel, but it was well worth the trouble. The rooms are lovely - high ceilinged, cool and very comfortable with high quality furnishings and good attention to detail.

We stayed one night in May. Lovely large room with a superb view over open country from the balcony (and the bathroom!). Great location, only a couple of minutes walk from the small town of Poppi.. The staff we met (Elisa and Carolina) were very welcoming and friendly and spoke excellent English. Can thoroughly recommend !

We stayed here for a wedding and were running scarily late. When we arrived, thankfully we were checked in quickly, shown to our beautiful room and given directions to the wedding! We didn't really have time to appreciate the view from the window until the next day....

Breakfast was great and set us up for the day and the hotel was located right by the castle and outdoor eating & drinking area in Poppi. The owners gave us a tip on what was going on in the area & we visited a market in Arezzo a short drive away.

Our room was comfortable, clean and suited our needs. There was no aircon, but the room was kept cool throughout the day due to the thick walls of the building. Parking in Poppi was difficult at times as there was a festival on while we were there and we would recommend a small car to get around the tiny streets!

We had a great stay and would definitely recommend!

Poppi is a charming and beautiful little town in Tuscany and the Albergo San Lorenzo is a wonderful place to enjoy the Tuscan landscape. It is located very near the main Poppi attraction, a beautiful castle where Dante wrote the Inferno. The views from the Albergo are fantastic and the grounds are gorgeous. The owners, Sabine and Michael, are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean. I went as part of a group on a painting vacation with The Retreat and we were treated to three fabulous meals a day cooked by Michael. If there is any way you can arrange to sample his cooking, do it! It is better than any restaurant. This is a very peaceful and beautiful place.

The building is beautiful, the views are wonderful, the rooms are charming and the breakfast is tasty. The proprietor is helpful, friendly and cheery. We stayed for 7 nights to explore the locality and I highly recommend it.

We booked this very last-minute after our planned hotel in another city fell through. Lucky for us!

The receptionist/proprietor spoke really lovely English (she could tell my Italian wasn't going to get the job done). I don't think there's a lift, so if stairs aren't an option for you, this may not be your best bet.

Our room had a lovely view out over the countryside, and the churchbells ringing nearby added that feel of bliss.

Breakfast was lovely -- a decent selection of breads, cakes, yogurts, meats and cheese.

The bed was fairly comfortable (a touch on the firm side), and the bathroom in our room was oddly shaped (it's an old buildings after all), but perfectly fine.

Remember that you're in a very old building in a beautiful hill town, and enjoy your stay!

Thank you for your review! Your Italian wasn't bad at all, do not worry! Some of the bathrooms are strangely shaped, as you supposed, since the building is quite old (about 2 centuries) and has gone through a major renovation during 2006 to be able to fit a bathroom inside each room. We do not have a lift, but we can provide 2 rooms at ground floor, so we can satisfy everyone's necessities! My best wishes, Elisa

Alissa greeted us with a warm smile and helpful suggestions for our time in Poppi. Our room was very large and had a beautiful view of the valley of Ponte a Poppi. On Easter Sunday we delighted in holiday breads for breakfast. The hotel is located just below the castle and is just around the corner from the town square of this medieval town. Very quaint and quiet. The hotel is filled with incredible works of art, it is like visiting a museum, so much history here.

This is my 2nd visit to Poppi (alta) and accommodations in the upper castello town are few, but staying by the charming town transports you to another feeling the lower town misses. Albergo San Lorenzo, like the town itself, is very low-key and with 10 rooms it felt as though I was staying in someone's home. As other travelers have said, the rooms are huge and mine faced out to the valley with drop-dead views. The rooms are shown accurately on the website http://www.poppi-sanlorenzo.com/eng-2/gcs-index-12-12-2-1.html. They are clean and equipped, but are not elegantly appointed.

Elisa, one of the co-owners, grew up in Poppi like so many of the residents. She was so very nice and happy to see to your needs, including a welcome espresso. My cousin was staying nearby and said she wished she'd stay at the Albergo San Lorenzo because nothing replaces an authentic experience when you travel, and this B&B exudes that feeling.

It is an easy walk down to the lower town bus and train station and the other businesses by taking a paved path. Parking is very minimal although Albergo San Lorenzo has a guest parking lot.

We have been four times in the charming village of Poppi. In different hotels, all good. But Albergo SAN Lorenzo is our favourite. IT has very nice rooms, some with a perfect view overlooking the valley. IT is very quiet, has good parking facilities and many good restaurants within a short walking distance. The owner, a young lady speaks fluently english.
Dont miss this opportunity!

Hotel is very small with minimum facilities but very clean it is very far from the city and transportation is an issue the receptionist leaves at 7:30 so if you are coming after that then there is an issue to collect the keys and check in room is very big but bathroom very very small if you are coming for business I don’t suggest to check in this hotel but if you want to come to releax from your daily life away from this plastic world then it is the best place

Good morning and thank you for your review! I am really sorry that you could not enjoy you stay here, I hope to be able to explain some of the issues you pointed. Poppi is located in the old town center of Poppi, in the Casentino Valley: if you are looking for an hotel inside a big busy city this is definitely not the right area for your stay. As you said, this place is perfect for those who look for a relaxing vacation surrounded by nature. The check in time is specified during the booking procedure, alongside a phone number and an email address where you can contact us 24/7 to arrange a more convenient check in time, when needed, just like you did. I really hope to have you again our guest, maybe on holiday and not as a business trip, so we can show you all that Casentino Valley and Poppi have to offer! Best whishes, Elisa Moneti

Good morning, thank you for your request. We still have vacancy for the days you need, but we can not take reservations via TripAdvisor. You can write us an email or call at +39 0575 520176 and I will give you all the details. Elisa Reception

Good evening, unfortunately motorhomes are not allowed to park inside the city centre. I would suggest you reach the city entrance ( insert in your gps "via Colle Ascensione 1") and from there reach the hotel walking (it is about 150meters). The reception will then provide you all the information for the nearest parking lot. Feel free to contact us for any further request.
