I decided to stay by myself for three weeks at the end of September, beginning of October. I was a little worried about being on my own but I didn’t need to be. John the owner met me off the bus and it was all good from there on. Even though it was late he offered me food and drinks, and got me water for my room. My room faced out over the back furthest away from the road, it was typically Greek, basic but spacious and had everything you needed. The water pressure was good and hot water provided an excellent shower everyday. The room was kept spotlessly clean. The complex is split by the main road. The shop (which wasn’t open) and my room was on one side and then there are more rooms and the bar/restaurant on the other, that then leads onto the beach. I ate at the restaurant every day for two weeks and enjoyed everything. “Mummy” is an amazing cook. Then I went out to explore different places to eat. The food everywhere was amazing and surpassed all expectations. I was a bit concerned that there wasn’t any swimming pool at the apartments, but both Harry and John assured me that the sea was the best swimming pool I would find, and they were right. It was absolutely fabulous and I swam miles in the bay everyday. I also explored the ruins at the end of the beach and the harbour, then the old town on the top of the hill, which is a good walk directly upwards. (There is a bus for the less able). There are regular inexpensive buses to other destinations on the island and getting to the airport by bus is only 20 minutes and costs less than €3 one way. I was made to feel very welcome and one of the family. Harry, the dad is a legend in Kefalos. Everyone knows him. He keeps all the guests entertained. I sat with various people in the restaurant and made lots of new friends. Many of the people there have been coming to stay or eat with Harry for the last 30 years, returning year on year. I’m looking forward to returning. I’d recommend if you’re looking for a cheap, no frills, slice of Greece in a quieter resort, with a beautiful beach, and lovely helpful Greek people then this is for you.

We stayed for seven days at this family run property. The family are absolutely delightful and charming. Home cooking at the restaurant, friendly service, and very good value food. The accommodation provides just what was needed for a self catered short stay. A very clean room (maid service three times in six days), an en-suite, small kitchenette and balcony with chairs/table. Affordable air conditioning at 6 euros per day. Sun Ed’s on the beach for six euros a day too. It’s on the main road but Kos has one road. It is so quiet in the area it’s no bother at all. We really enjoyed our stay. Sharon works evenings in the supermarket in the accommodation and is really helpful and friendly too. I look forward to another visit in the future.

We were booked in to Haralambos for a week via Olympic Holidays. Regrettably the sub-basement apartment was not changeable as the property was allegedly full. The view of passers-by footwear , parked cars for the shop, noisy neighbours and unlimited amounts of car-park grit and dust was continuous for our stay. The main road that the property fronted was extremely noisy at night but OK for the local motorbike dragsters. The friendly owner family style masked a greedy and grasping approach to their customers. Harry, the "main-man" was loud, garrulous, opinionated and overbearing. He also managed to keep us waiting for an hour before delivering up the worst meal I have had in Greece after more than 30 years of visiting. Finally, Kefalos has some excellent beaches but not on the section containing Haralambos payable "private" beach.

I've just come back from a week in beautiful Kefalos, staying at Harambolos studios.
I've had a wonderful time, and most of that was down to the warmth and hospitality of Harry and his dear family. They really are delightful, and they do what they can to make your stay as happy as possible. When I took off from Manchester Airport, my self esteem was seriously low, following an operation that left me with severe facial palsy. I was very self conscious and low. After spending a week at Harambolos, having wonderful chats with delightful Yianni, and being welcomed night after night into their restaurant by Harry and his wife, I flew home with a lot more confidence. They reminded me that I have value as a person no matter what I look like, and that is something money cannot buy- the power of love. That is what this family offer They are just lovely people, right to the core.

My studio was basic, and cleaned everyday by a lovely lady. Sheets and towels were changed daily. The only real down was the road noise. It stopped me getting a good nights sleep. One of the blocks is right on the main road, and if you want a sea view balcony, (which I did), it is lovely to sit out on an evening, but sea view rooms face the road, so the noise is bad! People speed sown this road late at night at over 80mph, as well as big trucks zooming by. It was bad, so ask for a room at back, if you are a light sleeper. Unfortunately, even back rooms get some road noise, though, so take ear plugs. I also got bitten by mosquitoes, so you need to close balcony doors at night.

The other unusual thing and slight down, is that they do not provide loo roll after the first roll, so for any of you going for 3 plus weeks, get yaself down to Lidyl or Aldi and take a pack of bog roll with you, to avoid having to buy it when you are out there.

Kefalos is just beautiful. It is quiet and dreamy, and these studios are right across from the beach where I spent days swimming in crystal clear waters. It is a seriously chilled place and unspoilt by tourism. I just loved it. The village of Kefalos is ahike up the hill from the resort, but there is a bus for only 1 euro, 80 cents each way. It takes you up to the village, and goes about 3 times a day. Buses to Kos Town alos go from opposite the studios. Kefalos is lovely, and for any solo female travellers out there, this is the most safe and at ease I have ever been in a place- ever, and I was travelling out there alone.

The food at Limani's is lovely home cooked food, made by Harry's wife, who is wonderful. I will miss her bringing me my breakfast every morning, and Katerina, their daughter, makes s a wicked frothy coffee for those coffee lovers. Sitting and looking out to sea, drinking one of her Nescafe's at Harry's early on Sunday morning, is the closest to paradise I have been in recent years.

Its a lovely spot- a traditional family run joint, run with hard work and love.
Yianni, Harrys son, has the art of conversation down to a tee, and talks to everyone that comes into his shop like he has known them years. He is really helpful and lovely, and if you ever need refuge from the boiling hot sun, you can go and find him in the supermarket. He's always open to a chat.

Harry and his family have put me back in touch with what is important in life- people and love. So if you need reminding, get yourself out there. They are diamonds, and they have helped me heal. That is something money cannot buy- its priceless!
Harambolos studios and Kefalos resort is lovely place to be. I recommend a visit if you want chilled out, traditional Greece.

I stayed here in 2000 with my brother and it wasn't what either of us expected. The resort was sleepy and peaceful which was the last thing we wanted. I was sun stroked for the first week and spent most days in the apartments feeling awful. The second week was the week I started to understand this place. It's charming and traditional. All sorts go here, all ages, demographics and nationalities. I decided that if I was ever to return here it would have to be with someone special. It's that sort of place. Two years ago I returned with my partner . I wasn't sure she would like it but I hoped that she did. She adored it. Mainly this was the influence of Harry and his family but the resort and island for that matter is a sleepy warm cushion of loveliness and so we returned the following year as an engaged couple and this year we are off again to get married.
So what do you need to know.
Harrys is a basic place but with everything you need and a bit more. For a start all the rooms are self catering. I wouldn't have cared but in truth it's nice to have coffee cups, plates and cutlery. Breakfast was usually had on the windy balcony after a trip down stairs to get fresh bread daily. There are two hobs and a fridge in every room to so you can have hot fresh food and a great place to have oodles of cold drinks.
It is the standard two single beds with sheets changed daily apart from Sundays. The bathrooms are again functional but very clean. There is no internet so don't bother trying. You get a WiFi signal outside the shop on the bench and the bar across the road and the gelato place next door and depending on the room you are in then you can occasionally get a signal but you are better saving your time for just going to the bar and taking care of Facebook and news etc over a few cold beers or pina coladas.
Harrys is family run. During the day you will meet Yannis (son) who runs the shop through the daytime before running the restaurant with his dad every night. Yannis is a good guy. His English is perfect as is his French and Italian amongst others. He will tell you expressly what you need to know if you are looking to get out and about and will order taxis for you and advise you on pharmacies etc. Well that my experience anyway. There is a daughter Katerina. She is extremely sarcastic probably after spending her time studying in Stirling. She is a good laugh and will come everyday to collect your 5 euros for sun loungers each day. She looks after all the rooms through the day along with bookings and FB messenger etc. She is also on hand in the restaurant through the day.
The restaurant is perfect. I have eaten all over the island and in most of the places in Kefalos and I have to say that although some other places have the views and the glitz, you cannot beat Mamas cooking. The food in Greece is often pretty filling stuff. Lots of stews etc and it can be pretty heavy. That said Mama has a flare for making astonishingly good food. I can see Rick Stein causing a stir about it. It really is that good. It's fresh daily and cooked to order. There are new specials daily and always a lot of fresh fish dishes. The restaurant sits by the beach and is surrounded by grape vines and vegetable gardens. Here you will find Harry through the day after he has returned from the farm, picking fresh garlic, potatoes and tomatoes from the evening meals. Its heaven.
Harry is the star attraction of Limani however. Early evening you will find him cuddling a very strong coffee or two and a few cigarettes. This is his routine before he bursts into life bringing light and life to the restaurant. Harry doesn't talk, he shouts. He will pretend endlessly to hate all the men and love all the ladies. He'll tell you " I hate you, I love her" Why are you with such and ugly man my darling.....etc etc . He is a hoot. It's done in a friendly way and never creepy or sleazy. The best thing about Harry is when the restaurant gets a little quieter and he will sit with you nursing an Ouzo pontificating about the world. He is remarkably well versed in world politics. Extremely opinionated but gracious. He's old school and he knows it. He revels in it and it makes him feel like a wise father. He is comforting and kind. He's a family man and extremely hard working. He has unbelievable energy and he is infectious. When you meet him as a stranger he will make you feel like you belong. When you meet him after that and he claps his arms around you he hugs you like he might be greeting a long lost relative. It's truly a home from home. Many people here are regulars for this reason (every year for 30 years, 25 years and so on) and I get it. I will be one of them thank you very much. Although it's inhabited by regular faces it doesn't feel territorial. The guest will invite you sit with them and drink the night away. This place wouldn't suit the young folk looking for a good time every night but they are around from time to time and have a nice time regardless of expectation. I have recommended this resort and this accommodation to many friends and family and so far it has never failed to impress.

When we go on holiday we like a home from home but this accommodation isn't really up to scratch. The rooms are very small and felt and smelled damp. The shower was not at all powerful and the bathroom door didn't shut properly and the yoilet was continually running water. The kitchen was virtually non-existent and was located in the entrance to the room. There was a lack of decent equipment.
There is a small shop on the ground floor but we found that the supermarket near the airport offered much better prices and selection.
The taverna menu was not particularly Greek and the quality of the dishes that we did try (Stifado, Mousakka and Lamb) were certainly not the best we tasted whilst in Kos.
The place is located on a noisy road, even in the middle of the night the noise doesn't stop (motorbikes, dustbin men emptying bins at 4am!)
Overall, I couldn't recommend neither would I return. Too basic by far and I wouldn't consider us to be particularly fussy travellers but these rooms offer very little.

My partner and I have just returned from a fortnight's holiday at the Haralambos Studios. Upon our arrival, we were disappointed to find that our studio block was actually on, and at right angles to, the main road. (The Olympic Holidays brochure gave a slightly disingenuous presentation and a photograph from a clever angle.) However, contrary to what another reviewer has said, the road noise was minimal; this is hardly surprising given the sleepy and tranquil ambience of Kefalos, so our disappointment was shortlived. Indeed, one of the advatanges of our room (No. 24) was that we had a wonderful seaview from both windows and the balcony, despite it being billed as an "inland view". The studios are typically Greek - basic but comfortable - and are well maintained, Our studio was cleaned almost daily. Air conditioning was available for a very reasonable 5 euros a day. The studios are owned by a Greek family, who also own the Taverna (Limona) and other apartments across the road. They are managed mainly by son Yani, who also runs the supermarket over which the studios are built. Yani and his sister Katerina were both very warm, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. There are several Tavernas within easy reach, but our favourite was "Rainbow" just a coupl e of hundred yards down the road on the beach side. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly, although we noticed that they lost the plot a bit when large parties arrived. We found Kos to be a delightful island, and Kefalos just the serene retreat we needed. There are many other islands and resorts to explore, but we might be tempted to return one day, and would certainly consider staying at Haralambos again. For those who value peace and quiet, an accessible beach and beautiful views and who can cope with the Greek way of doing things, this accommodation is to be highly recommended. We travelled with Olympic and flew with "Sky Wings" about whom the least said the better. (Olympic really should find another carrier whose planes are less aged and depwendent upon masking tape to hold things together! ) Despite the flights, an excellent holiday!

Don't be surprised if Harry wants to kill you so he can marry your wife! Changing his religion seems to be a daily event so he can have more wives!
Harry and his family run a very pleasant block of studios, supermarket and restaurant.
The accommodation is basic but very clean with near daily changes of linen and towels. Don't expect massive rooms or huge balconies. What you will get is a room that is a practical size with everything working. If there is a problem, Yannis, Harry's son, will be there to sort it out. Harry says 'we're all family' and yes you do get that feeling.
The supermarket has the essentials to get you thru' the holiday and at competitive Kefalos prices.
Harry's restaurant is as good as any in Kefalos. We ate there on several occasions and had no complaints. Don't be surprised when talking to fellow diners that this isn't their first visit to Kefalos or to Harry's. At first we did get the feeling of being 'outsiders' in a local village pub. Eavesdropping on conversations it did seem it did seem 'who's been here the most' competition. As virgin travellers to Kefalos maybe we'll also give it a second go!
We used the Rainbow restaurant's sunbeds. Two reasons, 1) the umbrellas are further apart so you feel less crowded and 2) there is a beachside shower to wash the salt and sand away.
The sea is unbelievably cool. The constant breeze seems to take the warmth out of it. My wife finally went in on the 12th day. (after I'd retrieved her from Harry's clutches)
We ate in the Rainbow most lunch times when we were using their sunbeds. Look out for their set menu's. Really good value!.
The other restaurant we were impressed with was the Argo which is on the way to the harbour. Great Greek and fish dishes. We did eat in other restaurants and never had a bad experience.
Although we never went looking for it, nightlife seemed limited for the younger generation. We were happy to sit in bars 'till the early hours. Melody bar is within staggering distance of Haralambos  and  has free wi-fi  available if you feel the need.
Would I recommend Haralambos ? Yes, to couples looking for a relaxing holiday and no of you want more nightlife. Kardamina is down the road for you guys. I also think families with small children may struggle. Personally I'd want a pool and more facilities on site. You can use any pool in Kefalos. the nearest one is about 200m away.
