Spent 2 weeks at Zeus Hotel as 2 couples. A bit anxious about safety due to Covid but that disappeared as we walked into the hotel All staff had masks on and sanitiser was freely available, with tables and sunbeds regularly cleaned. Beds were made and fresh towels provided each day in our recently refurbished room. The hotel is run by a family made up of 4 generations with the recent arrival of a new baby! Manos and Nicolas run the reception and bar and nothing was too much trouble. Nicolas knew our names and drinks order by the second night! Breakfast was basic but better than another hotel we had stayed in a few years ago in Kefalos. It consisted of juice ,coffee, bread, jam, ham and cheese which was all served to the table by ever smiling members of the family. And you could have as much as you wanted and could buy a full English if that's what you want. The hotel is popular with groups of friends who seem to return each year but, as newcomers, we were given exactly the same welcome as the regulars. The pool and pool bar are nice areas to spend time at, although as beach lovers we didn't spend much time there. 5 minute walk takes you to the bus stop for a trip to Kos Town or up the hill to the main village, although the centre of the resort is a 20 minute walk - good for keeping the pounds off though! All in all I would highly recommend the hotel - we would definitely stay there again if we return to the resort in the future!

We stayed here at the end of August 2022 in one of the newly refurbished rooms (de-luxe) which are on the first floor, almost level with the reception area. The first floor rooms are probably more suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to minimal stairs (there is no lift).
Our room was tastefully furnished and had comfortable beds. The bathroom was on the small side but perfectly adequate with a good shower. There was good storage space with plenty of hangers. The rooms and reception area are kept spotlessly clean. The hot water seems to be turned off each day during the afternoon until around 5pm, probably for energy saving? The Wi-Fi is very good, both within the rooms and in the public areas. There are no kettles or team making facilities in the room so take your own if you like a morning brew. I didn’t come across an iron in the room but there is a hairdryer and a small fridge.
The pool area is good with comfortable loungers. There are the usual sad, early morning towel reservations but on the few days we spent by the pool, we always managed to find a couple of loungers together.
The included breakfast at the Zeus Hotel is very poor just as others have described it. However, if you opt to buy breakfast, we had perfectly good omelettes for around 4/5 Euros. The eating area around the pool bar is quite tired and there were flies and wasps in abundance whilst we were there. However, there is a nice veranda with tables and chairs just outside the pool entrance where it is much more pleasant to sit and eat.

The majority of the staff are friendly and helpful, just one unpleasant gentleman who looks after the pool bar in the afternoon.

At the pool area in the afternoons there is rather loud music played. If, like me, you relish the luxury of time to read a book and have an afternoon snooze, you might find it difficult.
We spent most of our holiday at My Place which is just across the main road. They serve an excellent breakfast and you can use their lovely pool area all day as long as you spend at least 8 Euros per person (and the music isn’t as loud).

We had a late flight so we were able to reserve a late room until 7pm for 25 Euros.

Just outside the hotel grounds, there is a cafe called Tea 4 Two where they serve a very good breakfast.

The surrounding area is rather quiet but has plenty of very good restaurants within walking distance. (Hippocrates, Scorpio, Harry’s, Antonio’s).
The beach is pebble and shingle. There were plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas at different points along the beach and the sea is very clear. We didn’t see any clear signs to indicate a way onto the beach so we just walked along the main road until we found an opening.
In summary, a reasonably priced hotel in a quiet area

Honest review from a Female Solo traveller. The Zeus Hotel is very friendly, all the staff know everyone's first name and never forget, very welcoming and work tirelessly, they greet you morning, noon and night. The rooms are very comfortable with a fridge and hair dryer, with balcony, cleaned every day. Breakfast, included, is continental with cheese, ham, boiled eggs and cereals, with tea, coffee and fruit juices, more than enough to keep you going until lunchtime/dinner you can order a breakfast from menu at very reasonable prices. Very nice pool area and the only criticism I have is that most days sunbeds were hard to come by, towels are on beds quite early. Situated in a quiet area of Kefalos but restaurants, supermarkets all within easy walking distance with the beach a very short walk away.
To the person who gave Zeus hotel such negatives remarks it is Not a 70s age group only, there were families with young children, family with teenagers and some young men, also couples, you must have been staying somewhere else. Would I say again, yes, most definitely. Thank you Zeus Hotel. Best Regards Hilary

We stayed here from 20/9/22 to 27/9/22. We booked our stay, based purely on the reviews we read. However, although we was not expecting 5 star service for 2 star money, we was a little disappointed. The location is fine, to use as a base, if you intend to visit other parts of the island, but I wouldn’t want to stay there 24/7 of a holiday! Our room was very nice. Clean, and well laid out. The maid came in daily to make the bed, with fresh linen, but our towels were only changed once during the whole week. Our room was down the right hand side of the hotel, facing an open space, where someone had put chickens, with a (damn) cockerel. EVERY morning, from the early hours, i.e. the cockerel would crow non stop until approx 9am!! We never managed to get 1 good nights sleep throughout the whole holiday, which was very annoying. Other people said the same! As for the breakfast menu, it was exactly as has been mentioned in other reviews, basic. However, everyone knows this before they book, so it should be no surprise! Although it is basic, it is fresh, daily, and can be appetising, depending on your appetite. Most people walk the 100 yard across the road, to The Tea For Tea cafe, where you get the best breakfast in Kefalos. The pool is of a nice size, and with ample sun beds for everyone, so no problem there. The two boys who work the bar at nights, Nicholas and Manolis, are very good hosts, and helpful, but we found Nicholas to be a bit loud and OTT, at times, but we just took that as to his way of being friendly, so just accepted it. Apart from that, we did manage to enjoy our time there, (although we mostly only stayed there at night time) We travelled the island every day. Anyway, should you book to stay here, enjoy yourself, it’s a beautifull island to visit and explore.

I have stayed in many budget accommodations. Even by their standards, it is obvious Hotel Zeus's goal is to offer the bare minimum. The breakfast is disappointing (instant coffee, Tang instead of OJ, white bread, overcooked hard boiled eggs, ham and cheese). Communication prior to check in was inadequate. I emailed asking what was a good way to get to the hotel from the airport. Their reply was a mere "bus or taxi." No effort to send a bus schedule/ number or a fare estimate for a cab.
I booked through Hotels.com because they offered a better rate than the property quoted me when I contacted them directly. Greece is the only country that I've been to where A/C may be charged separately, so I was careful to book a property that included it. When I checked in, I was told I would have to pay 6€ per day for A/C. Under the terms of Hotels.com, there was no surcharge for the use of the A/C. On my second day there, I showed the terms to the owner, Nikko, and his brother, but was told I "made a mistake." It was then clear to me that my mistake was booking this property. Their mistake is not monitoring what third-party booking sites offer on their behalf. They wanted me to spend my precious vacation time calling a third-party website I had never of (who apparently works with Hotels.com) to prove to me that I should pay a surcharge for the A/C. Instead, I called Hotels.com, got a refund for the rest of my stay and checked out early. Luckily, even in high season, it was easy to find a more suitable accommodation.
I could put up with the dusty floor, paper thin doors and the twin beds pushed together instead of a proper double bed, but not with the arguments and aggravation. Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel.

We have just returned from Hotel Zeus which is a small hotel on the approach to Kefalos and close to the beach opposite Kastri island upon which stands the pretty church of St. Nicolas. We were greeted warmly by the family here and all the staff were compliant in wearing facemasks due to covid 19. Tere were signs stating facemasks to be worn in reception area and although guests arriving off the coach wore them it seemed as soon as they had unpacked the masks came off and I was the only person during our stay to actually wear one when in or going through reception and also when ordering food/drink at the bar/restaurant. Why ? This virus doesn't suddenly disappear when you are abroad and it is disrespectful to the wonderful family who run this hotel not to wear a facemask thereby putting them at risk. The accommodation here is exceptionally clean, modern with recently refurbished rooms and excellent power showers. You have to use the toilet in your room as the communal ones are locked out of use due to covid...good idea.. We have stayed in Kefalos many times over the years but not at this end of the resort so we walked a half hour most evenings to the main strip as we wanted to see how our favourite tavernas were doing. This is a lovely hotel for a relaxing break run by a caring family who truly wish you to enjoy your holiday. Would definitely return here.

What an amazing friendly family run hotel! We booked a deluxe room with Jet 2 and it could not have been better. On arriving at 10.30pm we made our way from reception along the brightly lit modern hallway to room 206. The room was modern, bright and airy with a view of Kefalos village on the hill from the balcony and a glimpse of the
Sea to the left. The bathroom was modern and very clean with towels and soap provided. A small fridge also in room.
The bar was also bright and modern and Nick the barman was very welcoming and entertaining all week.
Pool area is clean and plenty sunbeds available at the time we were there (mid October) .
Breakfast was simple but tasty, buffet style with toast and ham, cheese, tomato and hard boiled egg with juice, tea or coffee.
We had a late flight so opted to keep on our room for €25.
It was maybe a 20 min walk into the harbour area with restaurants etc and 15 mins along to the ruins and the sunbeds we used for the day (€10)
We did a day in Kos Town - booked with Z tours - €15 pp - well worth it!
We ate out at a different place every night, Every meal was delicious and good value.
We loved this hotel and will be back in the future.

Stayed here with my wife for 10 days. The hotel room was very clean and nice at arrival. We communicated the first day that we didnt wanted the room cleaned because we were tired and wanted to rest. After that the cleaning lady handed us two towels and wished us a good day, all good. Sadly after that the room wasnt cleaned for 3 consecutive days. After communicating this to the female owner of the hotel (the lady at the reception) she said that she was sorry and would take care of it. 10 minutes later her son came knocking on our room door with a very unpleasant and passive-agressive attitude telling us that it was our fault because we asked for towels??? Then we were told that somebody would clean our room the same day, this never happened. The cleaner eventually came the day after and cleaned the room. That morning we went to the lady at the reception to remember her that we really wanted somebody to clean our room. This lady proceeded to practically scream at me and my wife in the mids of all the guest "it was your fault you lied you said no cleaning!!!". Me and my wife are very calm people and dont like conflicts so we just told her that i supposed it was just a miscommunication in order to calm the situation. This lady just walked away mad and started saying things in Greek while looking mad at us. It is safe to say that this says a lot about her profesionalism, communication skills and her coping mechanism with problems. It is very sad that problems had to be solved in this manner. Wont be returning here ever again and definitely would not recommend this hotel to anybody.

My family (7 adults and 1 toddler) are just home after a lovely holiday at the hotel Zeus. 2 couples upgraded their rooms and they were lovely although the other rooms were perfectly fine. We had to pay for air conditioning and our safe but this is perfectly normal for Greece. The breakfast was typical Greek fayre-unlimited tea and coffee, cereal, cheese and ham, bread and jams which was perfectly adequate for us. The cleanliness at the Zeus is outstanding in all areas and we felt safer there in these strange times than we do in England. Within minutes of us arriving Nicholas knew all our names and remembered them throughout being particularly lovely to our 2 year old grandson. All in all we have had a lovely holiday full of happy memories and we cannot praise the hotel Zeus highly enough. If we came back to kos we would definitely stay here again and would return in a heartbeat

The family are nice enough, but we we given a room with mould in the shower and springy mattresses. First morning was the start of the holiday from hell. All sunbeds were taken by 7.45am everyday. There were some Scottish women who were obviously the sunbed hoggers judging by the colour of the both of them. Lying there all day making nasty comments , heavy drinking and being aggressive about other guests. The cost of the drinks at the bar are a rip off, breakfast was chewy toast and ham and cheese or some cheap cereal, dishwater tea and coffee is the worst we have encountered in greece. How this hotel has good reviews i dont know, unless you pay extras for a premium room you get a tatty, outdated room with beds not fit for purpose. Benidorm style sunbed wars with other guests. Will never return to this hell hole. The hotel really need to address the breakfast situation, get the poor rooms up to a decent standard and clamp down on the typical brits abroad sunbed situation
