My wife, 20 month old daughter and I visited the Hermes hotel in August this year. We booked last minute with our local travel agent and got a very good deal. The hotel is exactly what you expect from a 3 star, clean, tidy, very friendly staff and fantastic pool/views. The only down sides I would say are; the breakfast was very limited (but in town the breakfast range was great and well cooked), there are limited things for small children/children to do, the walk to the hotel isn't a problem if you are fairly fit and mobile as this would be a once daily walk to get food as the hotel restaurant was not open. Having said this the staff are incredible, nothing was too much for them. We moved from a double room to an inter-joining room so our child had space in her own room as a double with cot was cramped. Spearos and Contessa from the pool bar were fabulous with our daughter and their service and all the holiday makers. Food at the pool was prepared fresh (I recommend the burger). The views from the hotel are great and the village Kefalos/beach/harbour views are all stunning especially around sunset. Car hire starts at 30 euros a day and is a 2 min walk from the hotel it's so easy to do with a drivers license and means you can travel round the lovely loal ares/beaches as they are stunning (drive to Kos is about 40 minutes).
Thanks to Diana, Chris, the lady on breakfast and Sebastian too for our stay.

We arrived late at night and were quickly checked in, paid for all our extras, air conditioning €7 a night, safe €2 a night and a late check out €25. The lady checking us in was so lovely and the lady on the bar so pleasant. Our room was basic but we knew this when we booked it, it was spotlessly clean and out towels changed daily and the maid came in every day. The pool area was very clean and the loungers comfy, the little pool bar does the best greek plate. Its so tasty! Prices around the bar are very good, the family who own and run the hotel could not be any nicer. They really go out their way to get to know you, make sure you have everything you need. Honestly they make you feel so welcome and you leave as friends, we will be very sad to check out tonight but we will 100% be back, if your looking for a chilled out holiday this place is for you.

Just returned for a two week stay at The Hermes and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The staff, including the bar, breakfast, reception, pool bar, cleaners all made an effort to make our stay a memorable one.
We had a room on the top of block 3, lovely views across the bay and the little island of Kristi.
The room was spotless, roomy and adequate storage for two weeks worth of holiday clothes.
Mosquitoes plagued us the first two nights, solve it by keeping the room cool with air con or a fan, both available from reception.
Loads of restaurants within a 15 min stroll from the hotel, a torch might be handy for late night walking, some of the surrounding tracks are quite dark.
It is a little hilly around the hotel so those with walking difficulties might need to give the hotel a miss. I feel fitter for my stay, the walk up to the village is a tester but well worth it. The views from the top are amazing.
Thank you to the staff at Hermes, I Hope next year sees a return to normality for you all. God bless and stat safe. Nick and Jan.....room 322 (I think)!

After reading good reviews about this hotel before arriving, I am surprised to say that we did not find this hotel anywhere close to those good reviews previously seen.

Breakfast was shameful, 2 peices of toast (which weren't even barely toasted) and jam, i asked if I could have a bowl of greek yoghurt one day and was told it would be €3 extra each. We found all of the staff very rude! apart from the lady called Chris behind reception.

Air conditioning was charged at €7 extra per night! Rooms were full of various bugs, bed sheets and pillows were stained and had holes in. Our room was also not cleaned everyday.

We ending up hiring a car for the majority of our stay to get out of the hotel as much as we could! On checking out of the hotel, the lady behind reception was very rude and didn't show any interest or ask any questions on how our stay was, she was just bothered about us paying for the air conditioning.

The only good thing to come out of this hotel was the lovely lady behind reception called Chris she was extremely helpful and advised us of things to do in the area and ideas that made our holiday more enjoyable.

I am very disappointed with this hotel and it is defintley worth paying extra to stay somewhere that offers more for your holiday.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel. I was recovering from a knee injury and using crutches, so I emailed in advance and was given a ground floor room near the pool. Room was basic but useful to have a fridge and sink. We brought a travel kettle. Pool was lovely, always quiet, nice snack bar.
All the staff were lovely and so helpful with anything we asked, eg replacing a light bulb outside our room. If you ask, they will sort it, rather than just complaining afterwards in a review.
As other people said, you pay extra if you want aircon, but we managed without.
Breakfast was fine, enough variety and generous, whatever you wanted from the cold buffet served by the lovely Katerina. The room was cleaned daily, you must let them know when you check in. Everywhere was clean and felt covid-safe. There are quite a few steps but I managed, with the rails and ramps. It is down / up a hill into town, about 12-15 mins, not too bad unless you have mobility problems and there are no pavements.
The hotel is great value, anyone complaining about the 'extras', if they were included, it would not be such a great price.
Would definitely return to Hermes.

Just got back from a relaxing week at this hotel. The owners and staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. As Kos had only been open to tourists for a coupke of weeks not everything was open and there were very few peoe about but tbat made it calm and relaxing. Tbe hotel is on a hill and if you have difficultly walking I wouldn't recommend it as the restraunts are all down hill, the hotwl wasn't serving evening meals wheb we went. Tbe local bus service wasn't tunning as far as Kefalos either. Breakfast was a let down, mot what we expected as a continental breakfast. There were 2 types of cereal and toast with either jam or cheese and ham. The hot drinks machine only gave half a cup (not mug). Due to covid restrictions you were served your breakfast and the waitress was always cheerful and friendly. The pool was lovely with plenty of sun loungers and the snack bar there had a good choice of hot and cold snacks. The air con was a bit expensive at €7 per night and so was the safe at €15 per week so you've spent €64 before you get to your room. Tbe safes are in the reception area and not your room. The hotel wad clean and tidy.

We booked a last minute getaway and weren’t sure what to expect but this hotel was perfect! The staff are all so friendly and welcoming and couldn’t be more helpful. They really make you feel at home and the whole hotel has a family atmosphere. The hotel is spotless, there are always people cleaning and tidying, rooms cleaned daily except Sundays and all communal areas are immaculate. The pool is a really good size with lovely views. The pool bar has a great selection of food and drinks (best pancakes I’ve ever had!). Our room had everything you’d need and the view from the balcony was gorgeous, down to the pool and then right out to the sea across the bay. Breakfast is continental and the yoghurt and local honey is delicious. We even bought some of the honey to take home. The location is ideally placed between the bay and the town up the hill. The biggest selling point for this hotel though has to be the staff. They are wonderful!

Don’t hesitate in booking here. The place is immaculate, towels and bedding changed daily, pool is always clean and Covid procedures are in place. The staff really make it, so friendly and helpful. Pool bar is reasonable and has a great selection from salads to ice cream bar. Location being a little higher up means there is a slight breeze which is an absolute godsend. Bring a travel kettle with you if you want a cuppa in your room but rental of a kettle is only 10 euros if not. Sun beds and umbrellas a plenty and of high quality. Most importantly all well spaced out due to fixed umbrellas which is lovely knowing you have space from others. Never had a bad meal in both the old harbour area and along the main strip. Hire a car for a few days to see the island. Highly recommend manos just down the hill.

Hermes Hotel is a complex comprising of four double storey buildings in a spacious, open-air garden environment. The main block provides a large bar and lounge, dining room and games room. It has a large swimming pool and bar/snack facilities. The hotel commands an elevated position which provides panoramic views over the bay.

The services provided by this family run business was excellent, with the owners, Dianne and Sebastian being friendly, attentive and very accommodating, as were the other family members; Nick, Chris and Spiros. The standard of English spoken by all was fluent.

Covid regulations limited the choice of the complimentary breakfast however, the snack bar opened at 10:00 am providing meals at a reasonable cost. In fact, the overall cost of the holiday (Jet2) was amazing and we were fully expecting a ‘catch’, but nothing materialised! The prices were so good for the services provided, I speculated that they may have been dropped this season to capture the limited market. The hotel was certainly busy whilst the resort in general was very quiet, however this is pure speculation and I am perhaps being unkind to Dianne and Sebastian.

Overall, I cannot recommend this spotless and well run hotel highly enough.

I panic bought this holiday for a quick cheeky week away before another lockdown. I was a little apprehensive as I read a terrible review just before. All I can say is that person obviously had some grudge. ALL the staff we super friendly & attentive to every need. They really made my stay here! I felt welcome and at home. Gorgeous views as it is a little high up a hill. If you struggle getting about this probably won’t be for you. I think it forces you to exercise on holiday! Haha. The sheets and towels were changed daily which in my opinion is excessive but surely everyone will be pleased that way. Really decent hotel. Clean. Friendly. The breakfast was basic and continental but for the money it was adequate! Don’t listen to the bad reviews. It’s defo not a true reflection of the hotel and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Yes there are. A little further round the bay there is windsurfing and jet skis, kayaks and banana boats but all quite low key. If want full on beach activities (& prices) visit Paradise Beach a few kilometers along the coast. Kefalos is quieter and more laid back but we like that. Top tip if you go to the beach front Kefalos Supermarket buy some snacks (excellent sandwiches &cakes) and/or drinks, then the sun beds are free! Have a great holiday. Water Club Poseidon
