We stayed overnight on route for a week in France. We were welcomed and made to feel at home very quickly. The Chateau was an incredible historic piece of architecture and a guided tour was an amazing insight into its past. The rooms were very comfortable with beautiful views over the town of Durtal and surrounding Loir Valley. Breakfast was...

We stayed here on our way through the Loire Valley and it's certainly an atmospheric place. Staff were friendly and accommodating. We booked a family room which had two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. We felt that perhaps our accommodation was a little shabby compared to the non family rooms based on the reviews we've read here. Our family room...

Durtal is conveniently only a few minutes off the Autoroute. This is a lovely historic castle, with a really friendly Marion, fluent in English and daughter of the owners, to help you enjoy your stay She even drove us out to dinner and picked us up afterwards from a super restaurant she recommended (see Restaurant des Plantes, Durtal). I suspect...

What a great place to stop, a good breakfast is served by the owners daughter, there are several good restaurants close by. The setting is excellent with the river running close by and good views from the 3 floor rooms.

A friend and I stayed at the Castle because of a wedding being conducted at the Castle's Chapel and everything was wonderful. The Castle, or Chateau, has only a few rooms they open up to guests but you can tour the castle and see what life was like and see what enormous restorations are going on. This castle is owned...

We had a wonderful afternoon and evening at the Chateau in the company of charming and knowledgeable hosts. We would endorse all previous comments on the Chateau itself but would like to praise the Table d'hôte. After an excellent local aperitif we were treated to a lovely meal and entertaining and interesting conversation. Everything that makes a really good Chambre...

We enjoyed our stay at Chateau Durtal very much - from the distance as soon as you arrive in Durtal and see the Chateau towering over it you know you will be impressed. On arrival the owner gave us and the other couple a personal tour of the Chateau which was wonderful as the Chateau is steeped in so much...

We were in Durtal for a wedding and our hosts provided this option vs. a standard hotel in Angers. We were delighted! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were treated truly like royalty. Considering it's a very old building, the rooms were pretty modern (nice bathrooms) and pleasant smelling (not musty or old). Although the...

“The rooms are fine. There are no elevators however, so if you can't handle stairs, ask for one on the main floor. There are also several apartments that share a bathroom. Whereas the standard rooms on the main floor have their own. All of our friends who stayed loved their accommodations.”
