We found Discovery Lodge to be a great place to stay if you are considering doing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Team at Discovery Lodge were fantastic and very helpful and they gave us all the helpful tips. We used the shuttle service for drop-off and pick up and this was awesome. Very pleased with our overall stay and the experience...

This place was fantastic for all those attempting the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We stayed in a budget motel room which was small but modern and super clean. I'd highly recommend booking as early as possible the earliest bus to the start of the crossing to avoid crowds. The lodge arranged a 5am shuttle for us which arrived at the crossing...

We camped here for two nights on an unpowered tent pitch. For $18 per person/night, this place compared as expensive to other camp parks we have used, in terms of what you get for your money. The pros are that on a good day, the mountain view while you are washing up is stunning! Also, the fact the hot showers...

My wife and I stayed at one of the few private chalets at the front of the property. The views of the mountains were great from our unit. Unit was spectacular: new with separate bedroom, spacious bathroom, fully-stocked kitchen and pleasant living area. It was so comfy... had large windows and was our favorite accommodation during our trip. Staff was...

Discovery Lodge provides an array of accommodations from camp sites, motel units and chalet units. Our group stayed here in summer to hike the Tongariro Crossing. We chose Discovery due to their professionalism that we could sense through the website, and also when booking with them on the phone. (Miki was also super helpful with changing our dates for us...

After a day tramping this is where you want to be. Stayed in a chalet self contained room newly refurbished. Highly recommend the restaurant food was awesome. Great views. Perfect place to be in wet weather.

We stayed in a studio cabin which was clean, comfortable, compact and modern. We had a view straight onto the snow capped mountain too, which was spectacular. The room had good cooking facilities which was great as the restaurant at the lodge was closed when we stayed over Christmas day. There is the small village of Whakapapa with a cafe...

We stay in a studio chalet, it was spotlessly clean, with cooking facilities, we used the microwave but were also easily able to prepare lunch/breakfast. The location here is amazing but the best part is the service that you get, Callum was amazingly helpful with ensuring that we only hiked the Tongariro Crossing if it was safe to do so,...

Three of us wanted a comfortable spot to stay for our Tongariro Crossing. Discovery Lodge exceeded our expectations. The chalet was modern, spacious, well appointed, very comfortable. (Note, we did not stay in a hotel room.) Incredible views. The restaurant prepared a fabulous lunch for us to bring on the crossing. The bus service to and from the crossing was...

Discovery runs the earliest shuttle to the start of the Tongariro Crossing, a truly awesome and beautiful place, so that you can get some time to experience the beauty without too many other people. The staff at the Discovery Lodge are very welcoming and helpful. They provided packed breakfast and lunch so, with accommodation, food and the shuttle, they provide...
