Everyone has their idea of what a perfect vacation spot is and nobody will ever fully agree. My husband and I are from Toronto and we travel several hours to stay at Silver Birches almost every weekend. The staff are fantastic to deal with and this will be the only time I refer to them as staff. They have become...

The property itself is beautiful and has an abundance of potential if the owners were serious about running a business. The 2 cottages I saw, need a lot of work. The owners do not keep their promises when they say they're going to do something. They were supposed to fix the hot water tank while we were out but they...

after reading all the reviews, my personal experience, and that of everyone in our 3 family party, is congruent with those who gave it 1/5. I would never go back there, ever. Rotten food in the stove, in the bed, mouse feces everywhere like in the bbq. cigarette butts absolutely everywhere. run down and sad, not a professionally run place.

I was really impressed with everything at Silver Birches in my recent four night stay there. Originally we had only planned on only spending one or two nights there but there were so many unexpected pluses to the accommodation. The spacious nicely decorated cabin came with a large fridge and dishes. The view of the water and the overhead sky...

I came here to get away from everything and have some me time. What a fabulous choice. Where can you wake to the sounds of the waves crashing into the rocky shoreline? Where can you have deer just steps away from your front door? Where can you set up your trailer site as you wish and make trails and sitting...

Hello friends and thank you for taking the time to write your opinion on this site. I am assuming that a cleaned lot would be where we remove all of nature's trees and rocks but that is simply not Manitoulin Style. Our restaurant is opening on August 1st as stated in the website that you booked through. There is a...

nothing works or is safe. No beach to speak of, swim with boats. Don't sit on picnic table, it will go over if one leaves the table. Need more lighting, unsafe stairs. Everything promised at deposit in fall did not happen

Hello freinds and thank you for your review. In our defense, Everything works and is safe. You might have chosen to swim with boats as they are only at the front of the resort and there are 3000 feet of shoreline here. All cottages are on a full acre of waterfront property. There is far too much lighting from the...

My husband and I spent a couple nights here as part of our honeymoon. We met Rachael when we first arrived and she and her family were more than welcoming and accommodating. We had an awesome time and will be sure to go back!

We arrived very late at night after travelling from Edmonton, AB. and were thoroughly exhausted from driving. Our hostess came down to meet us and was so kind. After getting to the cabin we offloaded our supplies and enjoyed a breathtaking view of the night sky filled with stars. The beds were extremely comfortable and we had a great nights...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are the largest resort on the north shore of Manitoulin Island with over 345 acres and some 3800 feet of the finest rocky Manitoulin shoreline. The shoreline is clean and clear of reeds of swamp and the wind from the lake and the terrain makes this area suprisingly free of bugs. We have our own Spoon and Ladle Hiking Trail. Our cottages are well spaced with approximately an acre of land and the waterfront cottages have their own provate shoreline. We are looking for people who are "Silver Birches" material. People who are laid back and sociable and looking to get away from their high paced lives. We are people friendly and pet friendly. If you are high maintenance or complaint driven or afraid of the dark or getting dirt on your shoes of animals or nature then please do not book with us. The last thing we want to have here are grumpy people. If you wont miss concrete sidewalks or crowded places then come to Silver Bircjes Resort for a Canadian vaction. ... more   less
