Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Text: Stayed here overnight and had a lovely time. Such a warm welcome by Sarah and David and our 3yr old was warmly welcomed and very well catered for. We brought our own inflatable travel bed, they did however offer to provide one. Lunch and breakfast was really delicious, highly recommend. Our room was lovely, some nice little touches and refreshments tray. We stayed in the Thomson room. Large shower in bathroom. Spacious room. Hamish the ginger cat was gorgeous , anyone and anywhere that loves cats is all good in my book!

I booked the Plough Inn for an evening meal with my wife as we were travelling in the area with our little dog. We arrived to a warm welcome from David and chose to sit in the beer garden at the rear as the weather was amazing..The beer was cold and the food fabulous..we were well looked after..Our phone batteries were flat and they even charged them up for us.. We left after our meal relaxed and recharged and ready to move on to our next destination.

This was a treat from my son and his wife. I had no preconceptions but was overwhelmed by what I found. David and Sarah have created a real home from home, a welcoming bar, remarkable rooms and cleanliness to a high degree. The decor is tasteful and to a high standard with the placement of ornaments and touches of whimsy raising a smile at every turn, you can't go wrong with this one.

So comfortable to sleep in, very bright, airy and above all spotless. Expect a country pub in reality, but with excellent hosts and cooking. Hot water all day, towel rails, nice fittings. A relaxed and comfortable home for a holiday without stress or worry. Cannot recommend the Plough more. we stayed for six nights and did not long to be home. Breakfast was excellent and could not fault the cleaner. First choice on the Borders for us all.

Went for Sunday lunch, we both had vegetarian haggis roast dinner, followed by THE best apple pie! Plenty of veggie options and so nice to see traditional pub food on the menu. Lovely service from the owners, couldn’t fault it.

Despite having lived in the Borders for over 10 years I’d never ventured to Leitholm until now. The Plough Inn is a hidden gem in this peaceful and scenic area. The food was delicious and I had probably the nicest sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever tasted. The cook even came to speak to us to make sure we were all happy with the portion sizes and the food in general. Will definitely be returning!

Sarah and David are amazing hosts, their attention to detail could not be faulted. Our well appointed room, the service provided and Sarah's amazing cooking skills exceeded all prior expectations. So much so, that we detoured on our way home to spend another great night been spoilt.

We received a very warm welcome here with our dog. Food is excellent with plenty of choice. The beer on hand pump is great. I can highly recommend the pizza and the sticky toffee pudding. So good we returned later in the week. Thank you.

We had a takeaway tonight and it was just gorgeous!! 3 of us had pizzas, amazing and we had the veggie fish and chips (halloumi). Loads of good veggie options which is unusual for a pub, but great for me and my partner! Great home cooked food as per usual, couldn’t recommend more. Will have to get a sit down meal soon!
