Quinta Alegre is absolutely what we were looking for. We based ourselves here for our walking holiday. Reception staff were very welcoming and I instantly felt relaxed upon arrival in this little piece of paradise. Our spacious, sea view room was bright, fresh and very clean. Website photos don’t show the new cream coloured curtains and bedspreads yet which are lovely. As well as having a sea view rooms also overlook the most beautifully kept garden and pool. Side rooms without sea view have lovely views of the garden. Shower had lots of power and there was hot water at all times. At dinner you can opt for the set 3 course menu or choose from the a la carte. Food was outstanding and made freshly everyday with local produce. Jams and preserves all made in hotel’s kitchen. Some vegetables and herbs were from the hotel’s own vegetable garden.
The hotel guests are mainly walkers and people who enjoy nature and the outdoors. Exchanging walks and tips with fellow guests was very enjoyable in the evenings. We opted for 2 organised walking tours offered by the hotel. Both guides were friendly, knowledgeable and multilingual and we learned so much about the flora and fauna as well as the island in general. When walking independently Levada Nova is a 45 minute walk uphill from hotel.
Lastly the amazing staff make this hotel so special who work hard to ensure all their guests have a wonderful holiday. So well done to everyone, it is very much appreciated. Quinta Alegre surpassed my expectations in every way and we can’t wait to return.

Very nice hotel where ecological principles are implemented. The hotel concept is good. The food is mostly grown by the owner. The food was delicious and the beds comfortable, the rooms great. We had made a hiking trip. Everything was very well organized. The lynx package that we could acquire always received sandwiches, a piece of cake, fruit and salad. The boxes for the salad and the cutlery were reusable, there was water in a reusable bottle.

Have visited this delightful little hotel previously for lunch, but this visit was part of a large group for Christmas lunch. The food (a set menu) was very good and there was white and red wine, sangria, juice and water included. The service considering the size of the group was excellent.
What sets this little hotel apart are the friendly welcome, the stunning views and the very good prices. It’s off the beaten track but we will certainly visit again.

We felt completely comfortable and well looked after. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied. The 3-course evening meal was delicious and always made from fresh ingredients. You can choose between fish, meat and vegetarian. The garden and pool area is beautiful. At the bar you can get drinks and coffee at fair prices from morning until late in the evening. On request we were given a soft topper for our rather hard bed and extra blankets so that we could sleep wonderfully. There are small electric cars to rent at the hotel so that the steep streets can be tackled easily and with fun. We would love to come back!

Great location and view, nice rooms and garden, delicious food (partly from the own garden), great sustainable, plastic-free concept (the tuber goods for the packed lunch could be returned in the evening. You can borrow electric cars). The only thing missing was a drying facility for the swimwear.

The Quinta Alegre is a hotel where you immediately feel at home and "arrive" straight away, even after a strenuous day of travel. The young staff are extremely friendly and attentive, the hotel complex is very well maintained, the rooms are the right size, breakfast and dinner are very good, and parking is available. Solar energy, heat pumps and its own large garden show that the hotel management is also investing in using climate-neutral resources.

We were in Madeira for the first time in August 2023 and felt very comfortable at Quinta Alegra. The extremely friendly, attentive and helpful staff deserves special mention. The hotel, our room and the garden were very well maintained and invite you to feel good. We really enjoyed the varied, delicious and plentiful breakfast buffet and the evening 3-course menu. We were impressed by the sustainable concept that was put into practice. We would be happy to come back.

A welcoming culture is lived in the Quinta, which makes you arrive very quickly and feel comfortable.
Country house charm with great service and a good and varied cuisine.
There is pure spacious gym and massages are also offered.
The sustainability concept is convincing.

The cozy hotel has a wonderful garden. From most rooms and from almost all places in the garden, guests have a very beautiful view of the Atlantic. The service is very good, but there is still a family atmosphere. It is a shame that some services have to be paid for in cash. We had a lot of fun with the electric rental cars.

Nice hotel with beautiful sea views from the swimming pool, the garden and the rooms on the 1st floor at the front. Customer friendliness is very good and delicious food. Swimming pool good temperature. A few small points for improvement, such as more choice of small snacks for the day at the pool and the insect screens on the windows need to be replaced. Everything else was perfectly fine.

Hallo Christiane,
Andreas
