Just returned from two weeks at the Villa Sonia. Beautiful setting, spectacular views from our bedroom, pool and breakfast patio. It is well worth upgrading the room to make sure you have a view of Etna. What a wonderful experience to wake up to this view every morning. The staff are brilliant at the hotel, especially David on reception, he truly is the jewel in Villa Sonia’s crown. A true gentleman nothing is too much trouble, many thanks David. We thoroughly enjoyed our walks up to the village, sitting in the square, people watching and eating the amazing ice creams. You could have a different flavour each day! We found some brilliant restaurants in the village so well worth the climb up the steps, beautiful authentic shops for those souvenirs to take home. Villa Sonia run a courtesy bus down into Taormina which we used, beautiful ride down allowing us to drink in all the spectacular views. Villa Sonia has an amazing restaurant just a short walk up the road, well worth a visit. Ask to have a table in the cave, we loved it! Villa Sonia is a quirky individual hotel, with many beautiful artefact's in the whole hotel. It would have been good to have the bar open in the evenings to relax and enjoy the surroundings before retiring to our room. We are so pleased we found you.

Spent a fantastic week at the hotel villa Sonia this October. Staff are really friendly and hospitable. Very helpful despite some language barrier which is all part of the experience. The views are unbelievable and I just couldn’t get tired of looking at them from the room balcony or the pool and dining area. Location is perfect for a short walk to castelmola or a quick bus ride to Taormina. Castelmola has restaurants and shops, a small well stocked mini market and a pharmacy. You could easily eat at a different restaurant every night for a week. The caverna restaurant attached to the hotel is a great experience with lovely food. Highly recommend hotel.

We arrived at the hotel late Friday and didn't get to see any of the hotel or amazing views it offered. I woke up like an excited child at 5.30am and sat on the balcony waiting for sunrise to see Mount Etna. Yes the extra fee for the room was worth it, the view is stunning after an hour and a half of enjoying the view we went for breakfast and sat watching the Volcano again. The hotel sits just below the village of castlemole and if tranquility and peace is your thing then this is it. The front desk team are amazing and very knowledgeable as is Antonio the Jet2 rep. We spent the first two days totally unwinding exploring the village and also venturing on the free hotel bus the Taormina a ten minute drive. Cannot recommend this place enough

Had a lovely stay at this beautifully positioned hotel with a wonderful view of Mount Edna from our balcony. Special mention to David in reception for all his kindness and patience and of cause Marie , Carmen and all the restaurant staff for their warmth and their delicious food. Our room was kept spotless by the cleaning team It's in a quiet spot , so if you are wanting disco lights , noise and glitz this is not the place. Hired a car and got chance to see some of the island ,be warned its not for the faint hearted . Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Most important thing to know is that you need to have good mobility to get around here. The hotel and its restaurant are below (70 steps) the village which is perched on top of a hilly outcrop above Taormina. Very good spacious old fashioned rooms, really helpful staff - particularly on reception, great pool area. The buses to Taormina are erratic but there is a hotel shuttle I think 3 times a day. The walk down the hill is interesting undemanding - wouldn't attempt to walk back up. Restaurant food ok, service is ok at start of evening but becomes erratic as it fills up. We were half board - would recommend just B&B - there are some great bars and places to eat up in the village and also down in Taormina. Lovely people and superb location.

This is a hard one because we did enjoy our stay even tough I give this place only two stars. Hotel is in good location, everything (not much in catelmola) is nearby, the view is amazing and its nice they have a pool. But everything in this hotel needs an update, rooms are quite clean but the shower is horrible, drainage does not work properly and the sink faucet was also broken. Room was decorated with pretty oldfashioned furniture, a bit gloomy and heavy. We had a big terrace in our room but there was only one smalish table with few chairs in it. Few sunbeds would be a good idea! Breakfast was pretty poor quality, nothing fresh or home made. Canned fruits, bad coffee, no fresh juice.. There is so much potential but needs work done badly!

We stayed at Villa Sonia for 11 nights and would recommend it wholeheartedly. The warmth of the welcome and the service we received were exceptionally good. Nothing was too much trouble and although the whole team were great, David and Mario on reception deserve a special mention. The rooms were beautifully clean and housekeeping did a marvellous job cleaning our room daily. We had room 410 with an awe inspiring view of Mt. Etna - truly magnificent. The pool area was clean and plenty of sun beds available. Probably one of the best views from any pool anywhere in the world! The “old world” Italian furniture and interesting decorative furnishing gives Villa Sonia a quaint, individual and relaxing atmosphere.! Thank you all for a wonderful holiday and your wonderful welcome.

Amazing Hotel from the front desk service to the housekeeping staff. We arrived in the early hours due to a flight delay, but the warm reception we received was much appreciated. Our room 511 was spotlessly clean with a balcony and stunning view of Mt Etna and surrounding countryside. The room had a safe - key and lock from reception- and a mini bar with bottled water. Traditional furnishings, which is our preference and air conditioning. The breakfast caters for a more European clientele but does include scrambled eggs. My only criticism would be that small jugs would be useful to put the milk in for tea and that a lot of the crockery was chipped. The pool area has plenty of sunbeds with cushions and loads of umbrellas lovely swimming pool, including a small children's one and a bar which serves lunch. The hotel is a bus ride from Taromina or taxi at €25 and Castlemona is a five minute walk uphilll. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful holiday

This is a lovely quaint hotel right at the top of Castel Mola with original Italian furniture everywhere you look. The hotel staff were excellent especially the reception guys giving advise on the local area nothing was too much trouble. Good size bedroom with very comfy bed. Pool area clean and plenty of sunbeds and towels with bar pool. Breakfast could have been more exciting with more choice would be my only criticism but it was fine.
