We managed to get away for three nights between travel restrictions and were delighted to find this 'home-from-home'. From a beautifully set Christmas table (with gifts of crackers that the children loved) to the spotlessly clean kitchens and bathrooms, we really appreciated it all. There are books and toys and lots of interesting things in the house and then the grounds lead on to quiet little paths through the woods to explore. The close proximity of the Highlander Bakehouse was just an added bonus. We will definitely be back! Thank you Alistair.

We couldn't have wished for a better place to spend Christmas all together.
Tomidhu Steading is owned by Alistair and he did us proud. From decorating the table for Christmas and making the living room very Christmassy it was very cosy and welcoming. In addition, he left us essentials, bread, milk, jam and shortbread which was very welcome as our Tesco delivery was being delivered later in the day.
Tomidhu is in a good location, 15 minute walk to Crathie Kirk, Balmoral on the doorstep and a short drive to either Ballater or Braemar.
It was also a great location for walking the dogs as we had two with us.
The bedrooms were done out beautifully and we couldn't have wished for anything more.

Would we stay again, you bet we would.

Highly recommend it.

Thank you Alistair!

This is a lovely building in a great spot. We were travelling as a group of 9 so had all the bedrooms and access to the large lounge diner and kitchen.
We had a warm welcome from the owner and quickly settled in.
Bedrooms were good and well equipped as was the kitchen. There was plenty of space for the 9 of us and we had a great time. It was a brilliant spot for us to attend the Braemar highland gathering(just a short drive away)
We would definitely recommend staying here, and wished we could have stayed longer.

On every front this was excellent accommodation. The location for Deeside is perfect. The rooms are spotless with well kitted out kitchens. The living and dining space suit a large family gathering. Plan to return when things settle down.

Having visited the Speyside during the day, we spent one night in the B&B to visit Balmoral Castle the next day. However, the B&B is situated in a beautiful area and would be perfect for a longer holiday in Desidee/Cairgorms. The room (we stayed in Glendullan) was spacious, absolutely clean and quiet. Alistair is a very hospitable and considerate host. Overall, you can see in many details that he cares very much about the B&B and offers services, that make you feel really welcome (e.g. information map about the area, slippers, welcome sweets, free wifi). I would definitely stay there again, preferably for a longer walking holiday.

A perfect holiday is not just about the accommodation but also about the host and the surrounding area! Everything we love for a holiday was there at Tomidhu Steading. We had wonderful accommodation that was clean and had everything you needed, and if not you just needed to ask. The host was a wonderful and honest gentleman whose main focus was to ensure that our holiday was special and memorable. The surrounding area is peaceful, spectacular and breathtaking due to being central to some of the most wonderful scenery in the cairngorms. Historical villages and places (walking distance to Crathie Kirk and Balmoral castle) - ski slopes, golf courses and a number of lochs. The walks around the steading are so very beautiful and for a number of days we decided not to go travelling around but to stay and go for numerous walks near the steading. We have two boys in early teens and were a little worried whether they would get bored, just the opposite and although we had travelled around the UK, their most favourite and memorable place of the whole holiday was here. If you want a wonderful holiday and great memories then you need go no further than Tomidhu steading.

Alistair greeted us on our late arrival with a plate of traybakes and a cuppa. We stayed in the Lochnagar Room which was perfect for a family of 4, very spacious and had everything we needed. He made the children feel very welcome, so much so that my 6 year old wants to live there! Rooms were spotless, warm, cosy and had a modern feel. Loads of room for bags, luggage etc. Breakfast was continental style with a fantastic variety and something for everyone. Zivi and Abi the dogs were great and the children would have played with them all day. There is an off road quiet track that we walked along into Crathie and to Balmoral castle. Beautiful location and convenient for both Ballater and Braemar. Alistair couldn't be more helpful and he has a wealth of knowledge about the local area and beyond. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a place in this area.

We stayed on a self catering basis at Tomidhu Steading for February mid term break. I found the accommodation to be truly superb and excellent value for money. On arrival we had a welcome pack of groceries and a lovely bottle of wine.
Rooms were spotlessly clean and had a TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. The kitchen was well equipped. The property also boasted a beautiful and welcoming lounge - a home from home!
Alistair the owner was very friendly and had a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding area. His two lovely collie dogs never tired from chasing sticks!
Tomidhu Steading is perfectly located for visiting Balmoral Castle, Crathie Church and also Lochnagar Distillery which is within walking distance.
Tomidhu Steading Self Catering is truly outstanding and I would definately recommend !

We stayed here in the family room for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it! The rooms are very nice and the breakfast spread was excellent. The host and his two dogs were very friendly and made us feel very much at home.

This is an excellent choice of accommodation for anyone staying in Deeside. One of the best B&B's we have stayed in in the country.

There was cereal, smoked Scottish salmon on toast, fruit, juice, coffee, tea, pastries -- pretty much everything one would want other than a full English breakfast. I'm not sure if it is like this every day, or just because we were the only ones there that day. But breakfast was perfectly adequate -- I don't know how many of us can manage a full English breakfast day after day!
